This is my second SimpleHuman 45L kitchen trash can. After purchasing a rose gold color several years ago for recyclables, the only problem I had with it was I dropped something heavy on the lid leaving two dents. SimpleHuman corrected the problem in their new design with dent resistant lids, so I purchase one in stainless steel grey color for regular trash. The Costco bags I buy fit perfectly with no extra stretching required. I prefer not having a plastic insert, which would add to the weight of the trash can, making it heavier to move around when cleaning. Excellent and attractive but pricey product. Extra bags and a scent dispenser with scent came with the product.

Quality garbage can that stops the smells, has a gentle open and close on the lid and lets you store bags and filters on the bin itself so it all together. Comes with a special bag size but you can use standard bags n there almost as well. Will be purchasing more of these for other houses and family members.

I hesitated buying this trashcan because it’s a 45 L. Our previous trashcan was the earlier model from Simple Human, which was a 50 L. I liked that one a lot. I was also worried about whether I could still use glad forceflex kitchen trash bags. They were a tight squeeze on our old trashcan, but I just felt like that held them on better.We have been using this trashcan for a couple of months now, and I love it! The 13 gallon kitchen trash bags fit perfectly. I’m still using the glad force flex. They are not a tight squeeze so they’re easier to get on and off. At first I was worried that they wouldn’t hold on as well, but they are very secure. This is an huge improvement on the old trashcan. I look back now, and realize how much we struggled to get those tightly fitted bags onto the liner compared to now.Because there is no liner, like with the old trashcan, taking out the trash and replacing the bag is a more streamlined process. The trashcan also is visibly smaller, which I like. Presumably because it’s 5 L smaller (a difference I have not noticed), and because there is no liner (that plastic bin that goes inside the trashcan that I had to remove from the can each time I wanted to change out the bag).I was worried that the size difference would be a problem because we generate a lot of trash with five people in our household and frequent guests. But I find we are filling the trashcan at the same rate as before.Aesthetically, the trashcan is also a winner. Every family member commented on it. They were all impressed with the look.I’m extremely happy with this trashcan. If you are on the fence, I would definitely recommend getting it.

Amazing can! It’s ridiculous how excited people get about trash cans now and how willing we are - myself included - to shell out over $100 just to throw out what we don’t want! Yet, we do and we are :)My wife and I LOVE this trash can. The rectangular shape with curved edges around the top lip of the can REALLY adds a lot more room than our previous Simple Human can, without adding much extra floor space in our kitchen at all. In fact, it added maybe a little over 2” in width, and less than 1” in depth from our previous 40L can. Again though, amazingly, these slight differences do make up for the extra 5L we get in this can.I love the fact there is a “double-lid,” the top of which is used to clamp on top of the rim of the garbage can opening after you place the trash bag inside the bin. I LOVE this feature and it keeps the bag always nice and neatly aligned without snagging, getting a side pulled down inside of itself accidentally, etc.The trash bag compartment accessible both on the backside and interior of the can to pull a new bag is icing on the cake and makes changing out trash bags WAY easier. This process in our old Simple Human used to be much more difficult and messy at time. And even when full, I don’t get the horrible air vacuum suction effect when trying to pull the bag up and get it out of the can. This would happen frequently with my old can and it became a pain in the butt and took a lot of strength to pull a full bag out. Not so with this one!No motion-activated lid which I actually like a lot. Motion sensors often break after a whole, then you have a half-working can. So J like this is purely manual. AND kudos to Simple Human realizing a matte finish lid is much better than a stainless steel lid which always shows fingerprints and yucky stuff constantly. Love the matte gray on this so it hides imperfections and doesn’t stain with fingerprints. A+!Last thing is, though the step to open is on the front perimeter of the can, my wife and I set this up so that the top lid faces sideways. The only place we could fit this was on the left of our kitchen island. And even stepping on this from the side I don’t feel any difference nor encumbrance doing so. Works great.All in all, five stars. Couldn’t be happier. So weird I’m rating a trash can but it’s great!

Attractive, well-designed, easy to use, practical, good customer support, worth the price. If you use the Odorsorb pod, make sure not to center it on the lid: the bay separator will prevent lid closing--center the pod over the trash bay (not the recycling bay) to prevent odors escaping.

Love the trash can. Unfortunately, it was damaged during shipping and has a dent in it.It lines up with the box. 😕
