There are approximately 30 balls (didn't count them, sorry), and the handful that I mic'd were all on the same tenth. The bearing races were ground to an impressive finish, and showed no signs of contamination or uneven wear. Speaking of contamination - I was shocked to find an o-ring on the inner side of the bearing to prevent the grease from being washed out when using through-coolant. This seems to be the real deal, even if the price is a fraction of what a big-name ball bearing nut would cost. Review: Works as designed - This is the nut I've been looking for! I tried balancing the other ER20 collet nuts too no avail! This collet nut fits my 2.2kw spindle perfectly. My spindle vibration at 12k rotation speed is gone. With a little finessing of my cheap collet, I can get zero runout on a ground 1/4" pin in a 1/4 inch collet. That works for me just fine. Here is the issue with this, the spring inside is made wrong. It is extremely difficult to snap in my ER40 collets. Whats more is being so tight when you do get it snapped in a 1/2" collet will not accept a 1/2" drill rod! I spent an hour with it and then went back using my original nut.
