Cal Hawk Tools 5/8" Hitch Pin Lock

I had this hitch pin lock. It seemed to function great and have a very positive feeling it was locked: you cannot remove the key otherwise. That was fine and dandy until one day the lock failed, my tow car, tow bar etc. came lose from the back of my vehicle and did significant damage to it all.I conversed with the merchant who told me that was the last straw and they were no longer carrying these products anymore. I was about the 5th or 6th person who had a failure they reported to them.We are all just lucky I had good safety chains attached and only damage was to my motor home, car, tow bar, safety cables etc.The good news is nobody was injured do to the internal lock failure of this hitch pin.Furthermore the manufacturer Cal-Hawk / CTT Tools absolutely has zero customer service and could not care less of the safety problem that exists.
