Isn't the ingredient "Alum' still aluminium that people wish to avoid?

Yes, but it isn't aluminium chlorohydrate, which is what you should avoid. This form of aluminium is perfectly safe. In fact it's found in lots of food so you eat around 50 mg each day anyways.

I have heard that that 'Alum' ingredient listed is actually a form of aluminium. Is this true?

Our deodorants (sprays, roll-ons and crystal sticks) contain potassium alum which is not the same as aluminium chlorohydrate which is found in many other brands of anti-perspirants/deodorants. Alum is a type of chemical compound which is a salt of aluminium, and is a naturally mined mineral salt, which has a long history of safe use as a deodorant ingredient. Due to its size it cannot be absorbed by the skin and only acts positively on the skin surface. It is the aluminium chlorohydrate, a synthetically made product that can be absorbed by the skin, which has previously had health scares associated with it.
