We received it as a gift today, but will be out of town** A: I wouldn't put pink oyster spawn/substrate in the fridge. Other oyster mushrooms would be okay, but I understand the cold might kill pink oyster mycelium. Your best bet is to keep them closed and in a cool, dark place. I suspect they'd be fine. (In my experience, some of these could use more time to colonize anyway.) **Q: What type of lighting is needed for these and how much light do they need?** A: Mushrooms only need ambient lighting to grow, meaning you can grow these right on your countertop with overhead lighting, no problem! **Q: Why would the block of sawdust turn green? It only produced one small flush of 1.5 oz and then stopped when the whole block got all green and fuzzy.** A: Mine also produced one small flush then stopped and just produced little malformed bits that never turned into anything. I am new to growing mushrooms (or anything really) and was really looking forward to getting into this, maybe as a hobby. But then if I can't get the "easiest kit" to work... I was very disappointed. **Q: What state are these grown in before shipping?** A: They are still in the spore stage. In just a few days after watering they start to grow. Bought two for our grown kids for Christmas, they both loved them. They are fun to watch grow and look just like the picture on the box at harvest. Oh and the mushrooms taste great. ## Frequently Bought Together - North Spore Organic Pink Oyster Mushroom Spray & Grow Kit (4 lbs) | USDA-Certified Organic, Non-GMO, Beginner-Friendly & Easy to Use | Handmade in Maine, USA - (2-Pack) North Spore Organic Lion's Mane Mushroom Spray & Grow Kits (4 lbs each) | USDA-Certified Organic, Non-GMO, Beginner-Friendly & Easy to Use | Handmade in Maine, USA - North Spore Organic Golden Oyster Mushroom Spray & Grow Kit (4 lbs) | USDA-Certified Organic, Non-GMO, Beginner-Friendly & Easy to Use | Handmade in Maine, USA --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.jp/products/170389192-north-spore-pink-oyster-mushroom-growing-kit-organic-spray-grow](https://www.desertcart.jp/products/170389192-north-spore-pink-oyster-mushroom-growing-kit-organic-spray-grow) --- *Product available on Desertcart Japan* *Store origin: JP* *Last updated: 2026-10-21*
