Too sweet - glucose syrup and sugar
I needed to buy chestnut puree to mix with cream for a crepe tarte, but it was not in stock so I ended up buying this. After searching around for the list of ingredients, I understood that it contains both sugar and glucose syrup, but decided to give it a try anyhow. My tarte turned out extremely sweet, even though I never added any sugar either to the crepes or to the cream; the sweetness only came from this spread. When the tarte was served cold, you could taste a margerine-like substance, which could not have been the butter I used; I wonder if it could be due to the glucose syrup. In sum, this spread is overly sweet - only 40 grams of chestnuts per 100 grams product, and 63 grams sugar per 100 grams product, according to the package. Why on earth would they put in both sugar and glucose syrup? For the same amount (8 dollars per can), I could have bought a few packs of cooked pre-packaged chestnuts and mashed them myself for a good naturally sweet chestnut puree.I do not recommend this chestnut spread.

Great Spread
If you are looking for chestnut spread look no further. I grew up in the region of France where all chestnut products are manufactured and everyone there knows that it is superior to the more widely distributed Faugier brand. If you are looking for Chestnut puree as the other reviewer then this is not what you want (although this brand carries it as well).
