Wow, does this work! Way better than I hoped for, super signal everywhere. But read on to learn about setup...
Can I give this six stars? Ten? We have a barn some 300 feet from the house. It has no power. We want to use wifi there. After much research, I found the Ubiquiti products. Basically, it's a mighty radio. Hook it to your network via an Ethernet cable and it makes you a broadcaster. Configure as a hot spot (access point) and you have wifi many hundreds of feet away. It's directional but is so powerful that I am getting the signal all around the house as well as at the barn and inside the barn. Running Speedtest, I got tons of bandwidth. (They have non-directional products in case you need to blanket an area, and these devices can be networked so that you can cover any facility (this is how stadiums and office buildings are networked). Plus: - OMG, does this work well. Blasting signal everywhere. - Quality: Beautifully made and attractive - Can mount indoors or out. - Includes Power Over Ethernet. You hook your router to a supplied power box which has a power cord; then you plug a long Ethernet cable into the other port on the power box and it goes to the Nanostation, which only needs the one Ethernet cable. Minus: Configuration is not for everyone. Pretty technical. But that's a consequence of how flexible these devices are, and there are many online guides and videos from Ubiquiti and others; and their online support is terrific. If your need is covered by one of the videos or online guides, just go step by step. While I am fairly experienced in IT and networking matters, I failed when I did it without a guide (some arcane settings -- in my case bandwidth had to be set to 20 MHz because most phones, iPads, etc. do not support the 40 MHz default. There were some other hard to guess settings.) A final shout-out to their online support, which I pestered several times before purchase. Their product line is very complex and it took a while to determine what would meet my needs. But they have the experts and gave me my answer. Rock solid, high-performance solution if you need a super-strong wifi signal.

Great product, good RMA support (after initial hiccup)
This is a 5-star radio that I rate 1-star for the following reason. I have configured and installed over 2 dozen of these radios and they are fantastic. They operate very well and are a terrific value, which is why I will likely continue to purchase and deploy them. That being said, if one of your reasons to purchase them is their warranty and/or after sales service / RMA support, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. The words 'Ubiquiti' and 'responsive support' don't belong in the same sentence. I had one of two NSM2's that I purchased through amazon fail after 8 months of service. On Saturday, April 30th I filled out their online RMA request form and received an e-mail acknowledgement of my submittal which read "...Thank you for submitting an RMA with Ubiquiti Networks. Your RMA is now in the process of being approved by the Ubiquiti RMA team. Typical approval time is within 2 business days. If you haven't heard anything about your RMA after this time, please send an email to [...] and we will check on the status for you. All the best, Ubiquiti Networks" . When I had received no more contact from them 5 business days later on Friday May 6th, I e-mailed them at the supplied e-mail address and inquired about the status. On Monday May 9th I filled out a form on the Sales Dept. page stating lack of response from the RMA folks. Their own Sales Dept. forwarded my concern that day to their RMA section asking them to 'please assist' and CC'ed me. On Wednesday May 11th, 8 business days after my initial April 30th request, I filled out the RMA form a second time and in the description of the problem I stated that I lacked a response from my initial 4/30 RMA request (no RMA number, no address to ship to, etc.). Again I received the acknowlegement which read "...Thank you for submitting an RMA with Ubiquiti Networks, yada, yada, yada, blah, blah....". So there you go. Bear in mind this could have been a unit that was DOA instead of 8 months old and the same level of response from Ubiquiti for an RMA could have happened. Hey, I could market a radio with a lifetime warranty but if I never respond to RMA requests I could make even more profit! In summary, buy it for value, not for support after sales. Ignore their warranty, after all, Ubiquiti Support does. Heck, they even ignore their own Sales Dept. ! Good luck if you purchase a Ubiquiti product....you're on your own if it ever fails while it's 'in warranty'. UPDATE: Sat. 5/14/16: On Thurs. 5/12/16 I finally received an e-mail from Ubiquiti Support with my RMA info, 9 business days, a couple of e-mails and 1 re-submission after my initial request. They said my request was approved on 5/2 and to 'check my spam filter'. I replied that no such replies from them existed in my spam folder either and that this was first contact I had received from them since the beginning. Who knows? Anyway, I shipped the unit on 5/12 and the USPS is to deliver it on Sat. 5/14. I'll keep you posted how the RMA process plays out. UPDATE: Fri. 6/3/16: On Wed. 6/1/16, 3 weeks after I shipped the defective one to them, I received a brand new NSM2 to replace the defective one, a rapid and positive response to my RMA. Way to go, Ubiquiti! I have no immediate need to install it, but will say this: hopefully my week of frustration trying to get an RMA is not typical and has been addressed. I am still a big fan of the company and their products, so I plan to upgrade my initial rating from 1 star to 5.

BANG FOR THE BUCK!
What a great product! I run avery large network and up until now all of my wireless back-hauls have been with equipment from the largest companies in the business and most expensive equipment on the market, (10-25 times the cost of this entire solution). I will not do this anymore We first tried this product on a mission trip in the Caicos to remotely connect the only Christian radio station in the area. At the time we chose it based a few good review from colleagues but primarily it was the price that encouraged us to take a chance. I am glad we did! This was a simple install and it went perfectly. It is still going nearly two years later. It worked so well there that we ordered a pair for a mission critical link for our Agency and I am very pleased with this product. The documentation that came with it is light but the online WIKI is terrific. I have a rather advanced network and intall need for this so i ended up calling support. I had to wait on a call back, random not scheduled. It did not take to long and the gentleman I got was courteous though we very quickly got to deep for his knowledge. I found it difficult to get escalated to amore knowledgable tech however the information he was able to give me explaining how the unit behaves relative to certain settings gave me enough info to figure it out on my own. The equipment is great, the software interface is fantastic! Worth far more than I paid for this product. It was very easy to get a basic configuration up. A little more complicated to pass VLANS and Trunk etc. But all in all a great experience. I went with the Winegaurd J tube Mount and it worked OK but the tube bracket on the back of the Untit is slightly smaller than the diameter of most generic mounts so you may want to order the one from Ubiquiti if your looking for a perfect fit. I will use this product again and so should you!
