This equipment produces beautiful light with easy adjustments for brightness and cool/warm white balance. However, the on/off switch became temperamental in mid-December, about 6-weeks after I first opened the box in late October 2020. Sometimes the rocker switch wouldn't immediately turn the unit on, so I'd need to switch it "off" and then "on" again to get it to work. This wasn't a big deal to me, although with hindsight, I should have been less accommodating of this quality flaw. In late January, about 3-months after I received the lighting system, the light began turning off in the midst of using it. This was not due to an overheat situation as this randomly occurs within moments after the system is activated or 30+ minutes after it's being used. This lighting unit sits pristinely on a desk and has never been transported beyond the original shipping, so this isn't operational handling damage, simply a poor quality on/off switch. I sent a trouble ticket to the manufacturer at the start of February 2021, and received a quick response from them via email asking for my order number and a video of the issue. I responded on February 10 with the order info and video, and on February 20, they asked for my mailing address to send me a replacement unit, which I provided the same day). On February 23, they committed via email to sending me the replacement unit, and it's been silence ever since (today is March 22, 2021). I would love to give this system 5-stars, but the faulty switch and slow action to address give me pause recommending it to others. I'm giving it 1-star because it's a beautiful piece of equipment, but with a lousy on/off switch that randomly cuts off operation. I'll update this review when if I hear from the manufacturer. Update (March 24,2021): I received a UPS tracking number today for a replacement part. Once it arrives, I’ll provide an update and reevaluate the overall rating. Fingers crossed. Update (April 10): I received the replacement 2-weeks ago, and it’s been working great with near daily operation. I’m once again impressed with the quality of the equipment. I’ve had no issues, and I’ll update my review in about 2-months. I’ve upgraded my rating to 4 stars, and if the light continues doing its beautiful work, I hope to rate it at 5 stars. Since getting the replacement, this has been a top notch piece of equipment. I’m updating my rating to 5 stars.

Product is solid (it works quite well). Easily a 4-star product. EDIT: Adding a star for their great customer service! (They helped me find replacement cables for the arm lights after I lost mine.)

Update 03-17-2021 They finally got back to me using the amazonsupport at gvmled address. I received a new complete unit and was told to keep/recycle the old one. Right before the replacement arrived the power switch gave out completely. After opening it up I saw the pcb was pretty messy but that the main issue was a colder solder joint on the switch connection at the On position. The top (On) pin is right next to the plastic wall and probably so hard to solder right during rushed factory line work. The pin was also not bent over to secure it. So the colder solder and lack of support disconnected it over time. That's why the people having the issue noticed it after a few months of use and then it progresses. It took about an hour to research the issue, open the main unit, remove the solder (longest part be careful not to smear) and then carefully resolder. The switch felt so secure. Even better than the replacement when it arrived and works great. If this happens after warranty (or if they let you keep your old broken unti) do not throw in the landfill or recycle. It's worth cracking open and fixing if possible. Good Luck Everyone and Repair pics attached. Original Review: I use this light in my studio and liked it for the first month. It gets turned on for meetings or filming 2-3 a weekday so switch is flipped 4-6 times, 5 days a week, sometimes less. Switch started to not work consistently a month in but was only now and again, 2 months in you have to flick it back and forth up to 10 times and get the switch in a weird middle catch zone that it powers on and stays on. Even when it's on, it will randomly go off sometimes. I thought that part might be heat, but used direct fan air to test and nope. Seems power switch issue. Emailed GVM through their website over 4 weeks ago and then a week ago. No responses at all. It had asked for an order number and everything. I definitely still under warranty. Had to comment in an GVM IG post on this very light to get a different social media amazon order email address. Tried that last week and no response yet. Will update when I hear something. BTW this does not come with an app and don't bother using it with a smart plug. The light resets to it base tungsten value and 50% brightness whenever power is disconnected, so you are better off setting it and then powering off via switch. Or are you? Depends on how good these power switches are long term.

Takes time to assemble. Not ideal for travel due to several moving parts. Dimmable but lacks RGB. Good quality tripod. Screw attachment site is made of plastic and can easily break. Ideally, leave in place once assembled and it can do the job. Good lighting effect on the eyes. Removable detachable lights are limited by wires. Can easily be pulled accidentally and the whole thing can fall over.

I bought this mainly for self portraits and to upgrade a small ring light I previously bought. The difference is INCREDIBLE. HOLY CRAP. I’ve posted photos below or before and after the lighting so you can see the difference. It was really easy to assemble, I didn’t even look at the directions. And it was also super easy to break down and pack up. You wouldn’t expect something that large to be able to fit I’m such a small suit case. It’s perfect for studio lighting and the reflection in then rues is a very nice touch. I’m wowed but this product after using a crappy small ring light for so long. I would recommend it to anyone and am considering buying another one as a gift for my photographer friend. The only thing I wish that it had was a phone holder. The images made it seem as if it was included, although looking closer in the product details it’s clear it doesn’t. It’s fine because I can get one for very cheap, but I use my iPhone to take most photos so it will be necessary. This is way better than the box light, 3 inch ring light, and 10 inch ring light that I’ve used before. The light diffusion and the versatility of the lighting settings gives something for everyone.

Color seems fine, altho it's at least 400k off and it's pretty light and portable. However construction feels cheap, light stand was pertty toy like and not strong or stable at all... And the main problem, which renders it useless, is the output... I can't picture a scenario where this is going to be enough as a key light. Apart from a dark room, and only this light. Cause as soon as you introduce anything else, it gets drowned out. Idk what they did, but this is no where close 90w. I have 40w LED panels A LOT brighter than this. I get this isn't a high end lighting kit, but I was expecting this from a 50-80$ light, not 150.

What’s not to love? This is a great system. It has a good variable for brightness and warmth so could be used as a fill light, sole source light and you can even mount your camera on it to create those special portraits. With the ability to have a range of brightness and warmth, it can be used to create different looks for photography. The warm and dream look or cold and crisp or anywhere in between. It would also be good for product photography or macro photography. A make up artist would also make good use of this tool. It is like a ring light but with more flexibility. Two extensions can be removed and used either separately or at a different angle than the main light. This is great for any harsh shadows that you wouldn’t normally be able to remove with just the one light The tripod is sturdy and goes up to about 6 feet. It is pretty sturdy and really easy to adjust. I would probably use a sandbag or something heavy on the bottom in an outdoor situation. It is so easy to assemble and disassemble and comes with a carrying bag which makes it super portable. I could see this becoming my go to when I need extra light. This is a product I would definitely recommend for a photographer to have in their toolbox. For this price, I don’t think you can beat it.

So far, this ring light is fantastic! The tripod is extendable and fits on a table or on the floor. It goes quite high if you need it to be high! The light itself can be dull or incredibly bright (0 to 100 brightness), the photo is only at about 50% brightness. I also love the carrying bag so it packs up small to store or transport to photoshoots. The cords are also quite long so you don’t need to worry about finding an outlet that’s not convenient for your photoshoot. The camera attachment is quite sturdy for a smaller camera/lens. I have an iPhone attachment I can add to mine (bought separately) that works really well for videos! Overall, I am very excited about this product and would definitely recommend it for someone looking for a ring light!

if you didn't have the budget for multiple lights and wanted something that can work for many different scenarios, this will be the one. The small circler ring light can work with your smartphone or professional camera putting the lens through the hole in the middle, you can add the sticks that come with it to expand the area of light and diffuse it even more, what I like about it is that not only you can hook on the circle but can also wire it and move to whatever position you want. The light comes between 3200k-5600k but you can have any color effect if you wish by simply adding gels. The one downside is that it does not have a battery so you would not be able to use this outdoors, and I see a lot of use for it outside, but the product is mainly focused for YouTube use and live broadcasting so it does make sense for the design decision. The light also has two hot shoe adapter which you can use for microphone or other equipment. Overall I did enjoy the compactness and effectiveness of this light and would suggest to anyone who is in the YouTube content and broadcasting.
