Replacement Brush Bar with End Caps and Set of Belts, Made To Fit Dyson DC07 DC04 & DC14 & DC33 #904174-01

Belt replacement is not like the old days. Clutch technology is interesting. The construction of the Dyson DC33 is very well thought out. The amount of clips and screws to replace the belts was minimal. The replacement took about an hour from start to finish. A few things to note.- Remove the beater bar. The sole plate is removed by turning the three clips that hold it in place. If you don't have a large enough flat blade screw driver you can use a quarter. Lift straight up on the sole plate to expose the beater bar. There's a special tool to remove the beater bar from the belt. I was able to use a pair of needle nose pliers to pry the belt over the bar.- Take off the brush housing by trying the ends from the clips. Lift up and then remove the hose.- remove the U bend. With a flat blade screw driver, remove the cover for the clutch control knob. Use a torx T15 screw driver to remove the belt/clutch cover.- Use a flat blade screwdriver to help pry the clutch out of the housing. Pull straight up. Remove the belt from the motor if its still in place.- Disassemble the clutch with a T10 torx screw driver. Use a small flat blade screw driver to pry the cover for the drive belt off the clutch. Using spring clip pliers remove the clip on the opposite side. Be sure not to loose this. Be careful of the contents of the clutch. There are three ball bearings, bearing retainer, bearing cap, spring and washer that are on the shaft. There's a small silver clip to remove, that will help make it easy to pull the belt and the roller out of the clutch.-Reassemble the clutch by installing the new belt over the roller and pull it through the clutch housing. Make sure the three detents for the ball bearings are facing you. Set the clutch housing on a flat surface and install the three ball bearings, the bearing retainer, the other bearing holder. With the clutch shaft install the washer and spring. insert the shaft through the clutch housing. It will help to have a long socket on the flat surface and you will use it to push down onto while the shaft is going through the clutch housing. This will aid in pushing the shaft up high enough to insert the other sealed bearing and clip. While pushing the clutch housing down on the socket install the bearing then the clip. I used another long socket to push the clip and bearing into place. Then attach the belt for the motor onto the roller and snap it into the clutch housing. Screw the two T10 torx bits back in.-Install the clutch assembly into the housing. There is a ridge that the clutch slides into on the housing make sure this lines up. It should drop in and give it a push to snap it in. Stretch the belt over the motor shaft with a flat blade screw driver. Install the clutch/belt cover. Make note of the long silver pin that the cover slides into. Reinstall the three T15 torx bits. Don't over tighten.- Reinstall the brush housing. Make sure to attach the hose and then snap the cover into the clips on the side.-****THIS IS THE HARDEST PART***** Pull the belt through the assembly. If you have the special belt tool here's where you'll need it. I didn't have one. I used a pair of long needle nose pliers to pull the belt up through the housing and stretched it over the beater bar. It wasn't easy. After the belt was over the beater bar I dropped it into the housing.- Reinstall the sole plate.Job Done.The vacuum works like new. Belt engagement is strong and there's not more clutch noise. We bought our DC33 maybe 12 years ago and this is the first time it needed a belt. Time will tell how long this will last.

The beater bar change out is relatively easy and the belt for the beater bar is difficult to reach but not much of a problem. If you need to change the motor to clutch belt, this is much more difficult and requires some special tools to remove spring clamps and such on the clutch. At the end of the day, it is doable, but I believe that ordering the clutch with belts installed is well worth the $28!! The belt tool would have been very nice to have also. It can be done without but it turns the 30 minute job into a few hours of trying to figure the best way to manage the belt installation and a few pinched fingers! The product is great, the installation is not so easy without the tools and understanding the clutch disassembly. Take pictures, they will come in handy on reassembly!

This fits my old Dyson DC14 perfectly. The only issue is that it doesn't have as many bristles as the original. But this is well worth it for the price to bring an old vacuum back to life.

Thank you for such a wonderful product especially including the belts needed for installation. Tools I used and needed were a T-10 and T-15 Torx bit and driver, screwdriver, 6mm deep socket, small curved needle nose pliers and a wood chisel or long flat metal to lift the belts for installation. A special thanks to ( VACUUMS ETC ) on YouTube titled "How to repair a Dyson DC07, DC14 & DC33 - YouTube" for a thorough repair video on all facets of this vacuum type!!! In the repair/replacement video at the (11:20 timestamp) he mentions using a dowel to push the "c-clip" back on the clutch pin to secure - a 6mm deep socket can be also used to achieve this nicely as well; also, at the same time track of this video he flips the entire "clutch assembly" over while depressing the clutch pin in with spring tension. This is hard on your fingers, so I found putting the other end on top of a bottle while pressing down on the spring loaded clutch pin was easier to put back the bearing & "c-clip". HIGHLY recommended cleaning all old belt debris from in and around the motor & old clutch assembly prior to re-installation to prevent old debris causing new belts to slip. While the purchase of the entire "clutch assembly" with installed belts would have been easier, it would have costed $28, but I was able to replace the much needed brush bar and just the brush bar belt as my clutch was working properly. The vacuum works as it should now - thank you !!!

I bought this and a replacement hose for a DC33 at the same time. This took under 5 minutes to install and the hose took about 3 minutes.I read the reviews and several people claimed it took 30 minutes to an hour to install and some just gave up... Not sure where the issue was for them but mine took a few minutes and a bloody knuckle. We have used it daily for about a month or more and no problems yet.How I replaced the roller. I didn't need to replace the belt so this is just for replacing the roller:-Make sure the floor selector is on "Bare Floor" or whatever so that it disengages the clutch. This will make it much easier to pull the roller out.-Place the vacuum on a table or counter so the bottom is facing up (after you unplug it of course).-Use a coin or flathead screwdriver to turn the 3 clips holding the roller cover on and take the cover off.-While the bottom of the vacuum is face-up, have the handle and body facing away from you. Slide the retaining clip on the left that holds the roller in place so that it is completely out of the vacuum (the right side of the roller is where the belt is). This retainer clip will pop right off the end of the roller and rod if you give it a little pull.-Pull the right side of the roller up so that the retainer clip is completely out of the vacuum. You will need to use a little force as the belt is still a little tight. Use your finger or a screw driver to leverage under the belt and pull up enough to slide the old roller out.-Replace roller starting with the right side first. After you put the rod through the new roller and place the retainer clips on the correct ends, put the belt end (right) retainer clip into it's slot. Now put the other end into the slot where it belongs.-Put the cover on and use a coin or flathead screwdriver to turn the clips back into a locking position.-Use your hands to roll the roller back and forth a couple times to properly seat the belt. Now you should be able to put the selector to "Carpet" and it will engage the clutch so that the roller will spin like normal when turned on.This only takes a few minutes.

Brush bar works great - easy to replace. Arrived quickly.

Perfect replacement belts and brush for my DC33. Found a simple video on YT and had my vacuum working again in less than an hour. Very happy to not have to buy a new vacuum.

The clutch belt does not fit my older (2010) Dyson DC33 Animal like the description states. Searching google some state the belt is tight and requires a good amount of force to stretch, but the belt is a different size than the removed belt and will not fit without bending the clutch housing. The brush bar fits and tge brush belt fit fine.
