Family of (5) African Cichlids 2" Live Tropical Fish Assorted Alonocara Peacock Cichlid Fish

My husband told me I was crazy to order live aquarium fish online, but the reviews were good enough I decided to chance it - I am so glad I did. They all look healthy, have beautiful colors and were very active right from the start. I have a 60 gallon tank so they were a bit difficult to get good pics. They were moving too fast, lol. The delivery was a little wonky. They were to be delivered on the 5th. I received an email notifying me they would be delayed until the 11th. I received them on the 6th. I was really glad I happened to be home at the time! I'm not taking off any stars for the delivery because the fish are so nice. Update Jan 15, 2025: One fish died within a week of receiving them, and one other died about 2 months ago, so, about 16 months old (might have been female, not much color). HOWEVER, of the three remaining, "Big Blue" is very big (probably 6"), "Yellow Boy" is about 4 1/2", the last fish I'm fairly sure is female is about 4" (yes, she looks rather bad)- but WE NOW HAVE BABIES! I can see 2 and maybe 3. I have been watching them grow for the past week. Not sure how they have survived but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

So far so good. All five arrived living and four days early. I fed them some brine shrimps and their color started to come back. Some of them are pale, but, I associated that with being shipped across the country. One strawberry peacock as you saw in the picture and one looks like an Eureka red the other three not sure yet. Keeping them in a breeding box just until they transition to the tank.

I recently purchased the “Family of (5) African Cichlids 2” Live Tropical Fish Assorted Alonocara Peacock Cichlid Fish" and I am extremely disappointed. The listing shows photos of beautiful, healthy, vibrant, and colorful cichlids, but what I received was far from that. False Advertising: The fish in the photos are stunning, but the ones I received were tiny, colorless, and no bigger than a guppy. This is blatant false advertising. Dead on Arrival: All five fish arrived dead. They were floating in nasty water, which was a heartbreaking sight. I understand that shipping live fish can be challenging, but this was unacceptable. Unresponsive Seller: I tried reaching out to the seller multiple times to resolve this issue, but they have not responded to any of my messages. This lack of customer service is incredibly frustrating. Poor Quality: Even if the fish had arrived alive, they were of such poor quality that I wouldn’t have paid more than $5 each at a local pet store. They were tiny and lacked the vibrant colors promised in the listing. Overall, this purchase was a complete waste of money. I strongly advise against buying from this seller. Save yourself the disappointment and look elsewhere for your cichlids. I hope this helps you convey your experience effectively. These are gorgeous fish! I was surprised with the speed of shipping. They were all in the same bag, but none were harmed. I tested parameters and they were near perfect. They love their new home. Will def buy from seller again. These do ship from California it seems so please keep that in mind when ordering your fish. Added:: I made a decent second order with them. They are really awesome people to work with. The reviews talking about ich/ick are old and with the 3 batches i got NO ICH!!! These guys have great customer service. 1 out of 25 died during transport. (Cant blame these guys. Its the handlers at that point.) The fish are getting adjusted to the new home but seem to love it. I check parameters everytime when I come home to make sure its close and then I can decide to do quick or slow acclimations. Trust me on that. Ive been doing this for years. No fish has died from it. I digress, The reviews I saw were a year old... These guys are doing great in their new home.

4 arrived alive and even for babies they have great color but the one i was most excited for arrived dead and already stiff. Update: another died a couple hours later but the other 3 are doing fine.

I loved that all the fish are healthy. However, the smell from the bag made me hesitant to put fish in my tank. But it is fresh live fish so maybe that’s normal. But better than expected as far as ordering live cichlids. Beautiful but so small. I hope they survive my tank. Would buy again.

I have never ordered fish online before let alone through Amazon. But I decided to roll the dice on these guys and glad I did. All fish arrived alive and in good health and have great color. They also came early, and I was really impressed with the packaging. The vendor also packs in a little heat pack to keep the fish warm upon arrival. Would definitely order again. Update: Fish are all still alive and doing great! But the vendor definitely uses hormones to get there colors to shine. After a few weeks their bright and vibrant colors started fading.

I have purchased from this supplier in the past and was very satisfied with my purchase, however; the order I received today is of poor quality. Their life expectancy looks slim.
