I'd Really Like to Eat a Child Paperback – Picture Book, March 27, 2012

I'm a librarian and saw this book at a publisher's book fair. The title grabbed me instantly as hilarious. I have a three year old nephew so ordered the book for his birthday. When it arrived I sat right down and read it. The story is just as cute as the title; about little Achilles the crocodile who had a steady diet of bananas from his Mom but really wants to eat a child. After pursuing this ambition and meeting a possible child to consume Achilles realizes his mistake and happily goes back to Mom and his regular diet. It's a simple yarn for a child up to about the age of six. The pictures are delightful; colorful and well drawn. I think I'll order it for myself. My nephew has certainly enjoyed his copy.

We bought this as a gift for our nephew's birthday. He is only 1, but they have a ton of toys and clothes from their older son, and books are what they just need most right now. His mom opened the gift more so than the baby. And when she saw this particular book among the others, she laughed so hard! She asked where did we find it because it was so different and funny. So I would definitely recommend this to buy for people who like really silly books to read to their kids.

I bought this book for my son's Easter basket. Like me, he has a somewhat twisted sense of humor, and he absolutely loved this book. It's laugh out loud funny. He liked it so much he took it to school yesterday to show his friends and they enjoyed it as well. As a mama I'm always looking for books with children of color in them, so I was delighted to find a little brown child in the book. My son has probably read it three or four times and laughs uproariously each time. I highly recommend it.

My 3-year-old girl adores this book! And so do we - her parents. It's cute, fun, a bit irreverent... but it's also a nice subtle little lesson for picky eaters. Our daughter has actually eaten bites of things she previously avoided because she said she wants to grow bigger like Achilles does! That's an added success I wasn't expecting.

Bought this book as an Xmas gift for my nephew(18 Months) and he seemed to enjoy it when I read it to him. The pictures are funny and the book is hilarious and age appropriate even if the title is misleading!(His mother gave me a wary look upon unwrapping but quickly decided it was harmless) The only thing I give it four stars for is its delivery which which was a bit slow, but being so close to Christmas this is understandable.

My son In first grade, was a VIP of the week and had the chance to choose a book that I would come in and read for his class. He chose this one! All of the kids absolutely loved it. Would totally buy it again and I’m interested in seeing what other books this author has written as well! It’s a funny little story!

I got this for a couple kids I babysit (ages four and five, siblings) and they absolutely love it! This book is so adorable, vibrant, and certainly has that subtle capacity to be a teaching tool without sounding too obvious. Plus, if the kids keep asking me to read it, then it's gotta be awesome to them too, five stars for the great laughs we got from this one :D

Hilarious!! Haha I love this book and I'm 23. I bought it for my little brother, of course, but I definitely read through it first. Then I read it to my husband, THEN to my little brother because that's how much I liked it. If you're tired of all kids books being super dull to read to them, get this one. You'll enjoy reading it just as much as they'll enjoy listening, even if they don't understand the humor.

I love this book. I love the story, the illustrations, the child viewpoint and the underlying adult viewpoint. Every time my nephew comes over he asks me to read it to him - a year later and he still loves it. Good value, good quality, quirky - a fabulous buy all round!

My 9 year old daughter loved it. My adult friends loved it. It's cute. It's funny. It's well written. Illustrations are great.
