In this funny Caldecott Honor – winning fairy-tale retelling by Janet Stevens, wily Hare solves his family’s problems by tricking rich and lazy Bear into giving up half his crops. Once a upon a time, there was a lazy Bear and a clever Hare. Bear had lots of money and lots of land but all he wanted to do was sleep. Hare had nothing but hungry children, so he came up with a plan to convince Bear to split his land down the middle—tops and bottoms. Hare can work all day and Bear can sleep. It’s the perfect solution! Or is it? A trickster story sure to spark giggles at home or in preschool and kindergarten classrooms, this hilarious Caldecott Honor picture book is perfect for fans of Louis and Unicorns Are the Worst! Fun book with a good life lesson. I read this book to my kids many years ago. I bought this for a friend's child.

A Kid’s Gardening Must!
I love this story. Not only will kids learn about the parts of the vegetables and how they grow, there are life lessons to be drawn out (hard work, laziness, know the facts before you make a deal)!

Fun book to read!
I absolutely LOVE this book. The illustrations are fantastic. This book lends itself to reading in voices if you are so inclined this way. I'm a teacher and this book has so many facets to it--directionality of the layout of the book (vertical instead of the usual horizontal), a funny moral lesson, and references to previous folktales...it's funny and the kids love it. Lots to discuss makes this a valuable read aloud. (PS. I read the hare's words with a southern drawl. I read the bear's voice in a big, grumpy grouchy style.) A valuable book to any classroom teacher's read aloud library.

Great book, but doesn’t work in a digital format
A lovely book but the format doesn’t work at all in Kindle so I’ve returned the digital book and will but the physical version instead. The first photo shows the page in Kindle versus the second photo from the book.
