Leick Home 82431 Corner Computer Writing Desk with Drop Front Keyboard Drawer, Oak

I've gone the Sauder furniture route too many times, and never again. I didn't need a big heavy MDF office desk, but something small and stylish that fits neatly in a corner for a desktop computer. This fit the bill nicely. You get what you pay for, but in this case the quality seems to be a little better than what I was expecting. The desk came in a large box, which meant there was little assembling to do. I had it put together in 20 minutes. It seems quite sturdy, though I always assemble furniture with wood glue even if it is a bolt-together design like this. I have plenty of leg room, but FYI I'm not a tall person. There's lots of room for the desktop computer and a battery power supply on the bottom shelves with some room left over. The keyboard drawer has nice action, very smooth. It's just wide enough for a compact keyboard and a mouse, but no more. It works for me. I really love the corner design. I will definitely give this 5 stars for the price I paid for it.

What you see in the pictures is what you get. The desk has a solid build and clean presentation. No, it's not assembled from solid oak planks, but it also doesn't cost $600. I don't have the woodworking expertise to tell you much about all the negative reviews, but I did spend my 20s limping from one Sauder to the next. This product is substantially better than anything I've ever gotten in its price range.What I look for is obvious places for a stick-on veneer to start peeling or unsound structural joins. This desk has neither. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that you do not simply turn screws into wood. Leick has sunk metal anchors into the wood (picture attached).As the material says, this desk is very easy to assemble. As a 6' tall, 220 pound guy, I had little troubles assembling it myself. Bless the person that decided that every customer-installed bolt should be exactly the same size!There are only two steps (depending on how you count steps, of course), but essentially you start with the unit upside down, attach the three sides, then attach the floor shelf. When I was looking at the directions, my prediction was that flipping the unit back to its upright position would be the hardest part, and that turned out to be true.In that second step, you need to manually suspend the shelf while attaching it to the legs. Since this desk has no visible exterior bolts, this attachment is done from the inside out. If that's not making sense, picture your typical Sauder-type furniture: there's a hole in the outer shell and you stick a screw through that and into the inside piece. Conversely, the Leick furniture has a hole on the inner piece and you stick a bolt through that into an anchor on the back/interior side of the outer shell. So, with the Sauder-style, you can sit on the floor, hold the suspended piece with one hand while driving straight in from the outside. With this piece, you can sit on the floor and hold the shelf up, but then you won't be able to see what you're doing. And, since it's a metal screw (no pointy end), it takes a bit more guesswork to blindly guide it into the anchor than a wood screw. After a bit of trying to get a screw into the center/rear leg, I decided instead to thread into one of the side legs. That was easier. As soon as I had the first bolt set, the rest was a snap.Reading back over that, I made it sound worse than it was. I don't think that I spent more than a couple of minutes total on the lower shelf. If you're much smaller than I am, though, get some help. Two people of any size working together will have no problems assembling this unit.As other reviews have stated, this unit is a bit small for a 6' person to use as a computer desk. I adapted very quickly, though. The drawer is too small to use for a keyboard and mouse and for someone of my height, it's too low anyway. It's true that you can't get a chair with arms adjusted for a 6' person under the desk, but I don't know what's a problem (rolling the chair under at night?). My elbows are resting on my chair arms and I'm typing comfortably.Leg room is OK... If I sit with my knees bent at the ergonomically-correct 90-degree angle, the top of my legs just barely make contact with the bottom of the desk. Not nearly enough to bother me. As I shift during a normal work day, I have no problems. I occasionally bump up against that lower shelf, but that hasn't been any big deal either.I think this unit would be ideal as a writing desk for someone of my height, but as a computer desk I think it would be better suited to someone a few inches shorter. If you're in that 6' range like I am, then you're already accustomed to a world designed for someone a few inches shorter, so it's about what you expect. If you're much taller than I am, I would look for something else.

My purchase was received July 2017. It is now January 2019, 17 months later. I stress 17 months because it is now 5 months out of warranty and my desk is falling apart. I totally loved this desk for its size, design and utility; however, I have had a huge let-down and suspect it will just remain a broken desk because the Leick Home (since 1910) customer service department (Debbie) does not take action in a meaningful way. I called to ask for a simple part: the hinge that connects the drawer door to the drawer since it literally just snapped in half last week. I was asked to take a photo and email the pic with my request so it could be reviewed to determine what the part is and if it is available and how much I would have to pay before they would mail it to me. Really? I did what was asked and received no reply. I emailed again the following day to ask if my email was received and was advised yes, but, it could take several days before they could address my need. Wow. I was shocked at such poor customer service for such an easy request. Also, it was noted that they have to figure out how much to charge. The part is literally probably less than .50 cents for them and I would buy it locally but it is not a standard size but smaller which is probably why it broke shortly after the 1 year warranty expired. I cannot believe how poorly this has been handled. Buy at your own risk if you are willing to have a desk for only 1 year. I received a response to my inquiry for this part from the manufacturer, Lieck Home, and was advised I could mail them a check for $30 for the hinge which is on sale from Amazon for $4.50. No customer service. I ordered the hinge replacement from Amazon.

I received my desk today and the box was damaged. Not a good sign.As I opened it I found two sections of the under side suffered catastrophic damage.I define it this way due to the fact that screw holes and structural strength have been destroyed or severelycompromised.Had these pieces been been solid wood and not MDF (medium density fiber board) it would most likely survived.1/4" of styrofoam did noting to stop the force applied.I have given this failing grade in waiting to see response from manufacturer. This item can't be assemble per instructions as there is a failure in structure.Failure to mention that non solid wood was used in construction and in adequate protection in packaging.In addition the craftsmanship is sloppy.Update ... absolutely no communication from the supplier or amazon regarding this. Avoid this supplier.

These desks are perfect for our sunroom. They fit nicely into the corner and still leave lots of access to the patio door. Quality is very good. Totally satisfied. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a smaller, more quality computer desk at a reasonable price. One of the few options for corner desk on the market that look like a good piece of furniture rather than a mess of black steel and glass. Very sturdy. Well finished. Exceptionally easy to put together.

We were very happy with our new desk. It was back ordered but worth the wait. We needed a small desk and this fits perfectly into the corner. Came well packed without any damage. Easy to put together and all pieces fit well. Very sturdy. The finish is lovely and well done. We looked for a long time to find the proper desk and so happy we took our time and waited till we found this one. Believe it or not this is our first time we had ordered from Amazon and very impressed with our decision. I guess we are hooked now just like everyone else.

The Leick 82431 Corner Computer and Writing Desk checked all of the items on my checklist: good-to-great quality, unique design, dimensions to fit the space, and all for a reasonable price. Leick, via Amazon, delivered what it promised, and more! First of all, the desk arrived right on schedule, just before Christmas. It was packaged so well, there was no way it would get damaged during transport. I wish other suppliers would take a page from their book. I couldnt believe how easy it was to put together - 12 bolts, that’s it! I did have to get my two sons to help with the bottom shelves, which was a one-piece instalment. Those shelves serve a double duty: storage and sturdiness. The quality is amazing, the pictures online doesn’t do it justice; it was actually “real wood”, not veneer-covered particle board. The design is beautiful, especially for a small desk; not your standard rectangle writing desk. At my house, it’s a conversation piece. Now, let’s talk price! I had this desk in my cart for a couple of weeks, trying to talk myself into paying the $400+, but continued to watch it decrease day-by-day, until it hit $204, and then I knew I could not pass it up. I’m so glad I did! You will not be disappointed if you purchase this desk!

I bought this to match my existing mission desk. The desk is beautiful and solid. Shipping was a nightmare but the desk arrived in one piece without any damage. I'm very happy with this purchase.
