Much more than just a cane. This thing helps ...
Much more than just a cane. This thing helps me get out of bed and out of deep chairs with no arms. The light in the handle never worked and I doubt it would be of any use anyway. For a person who needs a cane and is tired of the old cane falling on the floor after leaning it against the wall or furniture, this cane, if ordered with the optional four-pronged foot, will stand up on its own. However, it is $10 extra and well worth it.

Very good cane.
The double handle helps in rising from a sitting position. The push button system for extending and retracting is much better than the twist system found on some canes, which tends to come loose and collapse. This is by far the best cane I've found. My only criticisms: it should gave a clamp on gizmo at the bottom to switch between the rubber tip that it comes with and a sharp point for walking on ice or mud. I bought one, but it would be a nice built-in feature. Also, the placement of the button for the light on top of the handle leads to its being turned on by accident quite often. Consequently, if you need the light, better buy extra batteries.I lost the first one of these I bought, so now I have three, just in case they stop making them.

Problem Solved
I purchased this for a friend who uses a cane. Once she is up and walking, she is fine, but her problem was being able to get up from a seated position without something to hold on to. After some practice, she is able to use the cane to help her, and she seems to have completely replaced her ordinary cane with this one, thus I would have to say it seems to be a success.

Helps a little when used as a lift assist to stand up.
If you decide to buy this, strongly recommend you get an additional tip that allows the cane to stand on its own. I got the:Drive Medical Deluxe Impact Reducing Able Tripod Cane Tip, Black, 3/4' Tubing , which I also reviewed, With just the tip that comes with this cane, it is very hard to find a place to rest the cane when you are not using it.I bought this cane to do double duty - as a cane and an assistive device to rise from sitting to standing. As a cane, it is a bit heavy but works just fine. As a lifting device, it is some help but not much. If you look at the mechanics of using arm chairs to help in getting up, you see you are pushing down from a good position. With this device, you lose stability because all your pushing it directed at the center, and so it is easy to lose your balance and sway left/right. The handle itself is of little use as a push point, because your hand is up high and does not exert that much force. The lower handle is the workhorse, and it is of some use. But it does not take the place of well-positioned arms on a chair.

I'm a big guy and these are really sturdy. Also taller than most
Bought two of these. One the light worked the other did not, however I was not buying for the light. Half the price of those in the Drug Store. I'm a big guy and these are really sturdy. Also taller than most, but will adjust down as well.

Disappointed Buyer Since Light Does Not Work Despite Replacing Batteries
We were so excited to receive the aPallo 2 cane. It seemed like the perfect birthday gift for my mother. Her eyes lit up when we discovered this product on Amazon. Well, we are all disappointed for her when she tried to use the push-button LED light. It does not work. I just realized other people have complained about the same thing. I read all the suggestions about replacing the batteries with fresh ones. It still does not work. I then realized the contact inside doesn't look exactly look shiny and new. It looks slightly corroded, as if battery acid has damaged the contact. I wish this cane didn't have a light. Then it would not be an issue. But for the money I paid, this product should work properly. I want to send this product back to Amazon.

Didn't work for me at all.
Seems to be over hyped. The cane did not work for me at all. I'm a big guy, 6-2 and 215 lbs. I did what they say: bend forward, push up, etc. But I felt very unsteady getting up. Almost fell on my third try out of a straight back kitchen chair, which should be the easiest situation. I tried setting the lower handle at various heights, but to no avail. And getting up from a couch? No way, no how. I noticed the three photos of the gentleman getting up from a chair, the position of the lower handle, relative to the upper handle is different on all three photos. It looks like they set the lower handle at the optimum height so it looks right for each picture. No fair! Anyway, Amazon approved a full refund.

Two-handed walking can a boost
This is a great help when I have difficulty getting out of a low seat. I showed this to my rheumatologist who said he'd promote this with other patients. I'd like to have had a colorful one, as black is sometimes difficult to find; however, I'll wrap colorful tape to help me. So glad to have found this style.
