The dual-sided 600 over 1500 grit Seido combination whetstone allows for sharpening knives and then honing the edges to a smooth finish. With a coarse to medium grit, this stone works best when wet down for both lubrication and cleaning. This premium whetstone makes a great gift for any kitchen enthusiast, knife collector or butcher. The stone easily stores away in a cabinet or kitchen drawer when not in use.

This stone might be all you need
I am a home cook with several Wustoff Classic knives and a few Global knives. I do not prepare sushi. I have tried a variety of whetstones ranging from 600 grit to 4000 grit. This stone, with 600 on one side and 1000 on the other, is the one stone I use every time. It's usually all I need, frankly, to get my knives super sharp for the type of cooking I do everyday. .

Which I love. Everything works great
When I ordered this, it was for the 600/1000 grit stone. Which I love. Everything works great, and my knives are getting sharper and sharper. I just received the 3000/8000 grit stones today. I'm looking forward to getting my kitchen knives ridiculously sharp.

no matter how long i soak it it just continues to take more water and is always too dry unlike my good stones.
Not a fan. Maybe OK for the price, but i would much rather spend a lil more and get a quality stone. this is the most thirsty stone ive ever seen, no matter how long i soak it it just continues to take more water and is always too dry unlike my good stones.

Versitle, Good Combination
So far l like these stones a lot. Highly abused knives like my early navy use bayonet needed the 600 grit and the 1000 starts off to a good point. Also use the 600 to level other stones I have instead of buying a separate stone just for that.

Five Stars
Works very well for all my knives. I keep it in the kitchen for a quick hone as needed.

Great stone for the first phase in sharpening your knives
Great stone for the first phase in sharpening your knives. The 600 grit sides works very well in getting a dull knife back to a decent edge.

Sharpens well the 1000 side is not as fine as other stones are work with but it does the job if you want to have a more polished edge you will need something between 4000 and 8000 grit stone

are the grits marked correctly?
well, i bought it, cannot ask a question, so here is my question: does it seem that the orange side marked 600# feels smoother to the touch than the white side marked as 1000#? mislabeled?HELP!!!
