Travelon Anti-Theft Essentials Convertible Backpack/Tote

Great "Mom" Bag. While traveling abroad for almost 4 weeks this bag was my "go to" for the day trips. Front pocket: this got decorated with traveling pins was able to pierce the fabric easily without permenantly puncturing the fabric. This pocket held the itenary for the day, left interior pocket cell phone (Iphone 11) for easy access to take pictures, and right interior pocket held a backup battery with charging cord. Possible improvement would be for a two way zipper on front pocket for easier access but is good in current form. Main Pocket: Interior zip- held thin wallet and keys. Big Main compartment: 32oz Hydroflask, Small umbrella (for sun), thin zip-up (in case of chill/sunblock), Large bottle of Sunblock, and snacks. Great for securing/storing all things neccesary for the family for the entire day but not to large to feel like you are carrying a beach bag everywhere. Love the light colored interior this made it easy to find all the necessary things while on the go. I did not use the card slots as I carried a travel wallet. Straps: Love the length. The long adjustable was long enough to carry messenger style for both my husband and I, both of us are around 5'11" ~225lbs. I was able to easily shorten it for a tight to the body fit or keep it loose for ease of taking on/off. Short loops are great and was easily able to slip it onto my shoulder during crowded areas. Side water pocket: held our 24oz hydroflask easily or the 0.5 liter (non-insulated) that we got in Istanbul after our hydroflask was stolen. We learned to use a carabiner clip to connect the water bottle to the bag... Nothing else was taken from the bag. We tried to stay very aware of the people around us but traveling though the busy market/riding the buses in Athens is where it got lifted, but that is the only thing they were able to take as everything else was clipped shut. One downfall: the durability of the mesh fabric did not meet the long term wear test. This is the only part of the bag that has shown the constant use. Color: GREAT love the dark grey color did not show dirt/dust/stains. We went to lots of areas with a high amount of dust (the ancient ruins of Greece/Italy) and it did not show it at all. Overall: love the size and features and will continue to use it as a day bag.

I’m a “bag lady” trying all sorts of bags for travel. This has worked extremely well for me. It is a great size and weight. I can shove in a sweater or lunch or use it for daily use with minimal inside. The backpack conversion is not ideal for all day carry but is very functional. It is a great “personal item” size for airlines since I can put my IPad and other essential flight items in it plus regular purse items. The pockets are well organized and all the safety features helpful. I took it to Argentina and came home declaring it was “perfect”.

Great bag, perfect for traveling in Europe safely. However, on the last day on my 12 day trip the main safety latch stopped working, so when you tried to open the main compartment even when it was latched close- you still could, the latch just slipped off. Completely defeated the anti theft part that made this bag so expensive. Very disappointing.

I love love love this bag. I have traveled a million times with it. Great material cleans well with lots of pockets for all my small items. I wish it was just 2” wider and deep. Tight fit for my laptop and cables.

I would give this bag ten stars if I could. It was so perfect for a trip to Paris - the little locking zippers were very secure and made me feel so much better about holding my wallet in there. It’s fairly simple to access if it’s on your body, but would definitely be very difficult for someone to get into without you noticing and definitely not while you’re moving. Plenty of pockets and lots of space. I LOVE that it’s convertible to a backpack. I switched back and forth a lot depending on what we were doing. Highly recommend!

The quality of the bag is not like other travelon bags, it seems to be inferior. As evidenced by the lack of checking the details. All 3 of the RFID credit card slots are upside down on the inside pocket of the bag, clearly shown by the zipper of the pocket opposite and the open pocket next to it. The picture is taken from the top of the bag and looking into the bag, the RFID logo is facing upwards. The construction of the bag does not appear as sturdy as others.

First and foremost, if you're considering this bag for the purpose of securing your things while traveling (whether abroad or just the next town over) you should know that the front zipper pocket does not have a locking zipper. It's fine if you're wearing it as a tote or shoulder/crossbody bag, because you can put that side against your body for added security. However, that pocket is wide open for thieves when wearing it as a backpack. It seems like a bit of an oversight on Travelon's part. That outside pocket is actually great storage space but, if you're concerned about theft, you'd likely only want to put cheap, easily replaceable things in it (chapstick, sunblock, etc.) If you plan to use this bag primarily as a backpack and want more secure features, you might be better off getting an actual backpack from Travelon. The main compartment does have the locking zipper, so it's not completely useless as an anti-theft bag when in the backpack configuration: just maybe not the top option, depending on your needs. My goal with this bag was to find something that could fit all of my things, plus a few extras for the kiddos, while we transition away from using a full-sized diaper bag. I do believe this will do the trick! Plenty of space in the main compartment (not a lot of organizational pockets, but I can deal) and there are two slip pockets in the outer zippered compartment which also has a very slight gusset to create a little more room. The convertible strap options will be helpful for long days, allowing me to change how I wear it depending on how many hands, hips, shoulders, or arms I have free and how heavy the bag feels. An added bonus is the water bottle pocket: I really like that it can be zipped "shut" when not in use, making the bag look more sleek and less like a bulky "I'm a mom and have to fit everything in my frumpy Mary Poppins purse" kind of bag. Finally, the bag looks good. I wanted something I could take everywhere and I think I found it. The only exception would be a black-tie event: this definitely wouldn't go with a full length gown. But it is suitable for just about any other scenario, be it professional, casual, travel related, or just every day errands.

If I don’t have it, things may or may not happen. 😂 💊 My menopause go-to medications and essentials — easily accessible, not buried at the bottom of the bag. 💧 Water bottle (easily accessed and fits 1L yeti) 🌬️ Small personal fan — because apparently travelling through Europe while experiencing menopause requires its own climate-control system. 😂 🧥 Light sweater — because airports, planes, trains and restaurants apparently can’t agree on a temperature. 📱 Phone, wallet, passport, chargers and all the other little things that somehow multiply when travelling. I took the chance & ordered it, substantial size difference ) This BAG ROCKS!!! 👍The light-coloured interior means I can actually see what I’ve packed. 👍The multiple compartments and pockets mean my things have a home instead of becoming one giant archaeological dig 🪏 . 👍The built-in flashlight🔦 is brilliant for finding something inside the bag when it’s dark. 👍The expandable 💦water-bottle pocket gives me room for my bottle without sacrificing the interior space. 👍Security: 🔐RFID protection, locking compartments, locking strap and 🔪slash-resistant construction. Most importantly, it can be worn as a backpack when I’m walking all day but still looks like a proper tote when I want something a little more polished. Now to the 👎CON : straps are not padded but I fixed that with padded baby car straps from the $ store ♥️

Tasche ist auch als Rucksack verwendbar, etwas steif, diebstahlsichere Gurte, sehr geräumig, außen sehr schmale Tasche für eine dünne Trinkflasche oder einen kleinen Schirm. Diese Tasche ist bei einer Flugreise ideal, wenn man den großen Koffer aufgibt. Insgesamt ziemlich teuer, wie die meisten Taschen dieses Erzeugers. Ich habe aber schon ein paar, die alle sehr haltbar und praktisch sind.

I loved, loved, loved using this bag on our recent trip to Italy. It is fully transformable from a purse, to a cross body to a backpack bag. Because of the anti-theft features, I had no fears of having my stuff stolen while it was in backpack mode, which is how I typically kept it. The only times I transformed it into a cross body for safety were when we were on the subways in Rome and down at Trevi Fountain because of the crush of people. It has lots of room inside and great pockets. I highly recommend this purchase, especially if you’re traveling someplace that is known for having people with sticky fingers. Also when in Rome, do not buy bottles of water from the people on the streets. Bring a refillable one and use the public nasone (public drinking fountains) to fill your bottle - there are over 2000 in the city. Buying water is a rip off. And you can put your bottle of water in the water holder of this bag for easy access!
