Excellent lense for 61megapixels.
For my Sony a7cr this lense comes alive. This lens is cheap, but if you read the reviews, it is stellar. You will see how clear and contrasty the pics are. Excellent buy.The lens is NOT a value lens. It just happens to be inexpensive.

Great budget lens
Bought this recently to use a wide for wedding photography and it’s a superb lens that performs beyond what I expected from a $200 lens.Lens build quality leaves much to be desired but still a great lens overall

Unbeatable Price to value
I didn't have any expectations for this lens but honestly for the price, it's amazing. I've shot portraits in everything from full sun to nighttime cities with it on my Sony A7Rii and they turned out good. There are definitely better more expensive lenses around but for 199$ it's the perfect lens to try out a new focal length.

10/10
Great image quality, very sharp, good colors and contrast, compact, light weight, small enough for travel. Didn't experience distortion when shooting leveled. Used for landscapes and it delivered. Had no issues with the auto focus on a Sony 7R body however, it is a bit noisy. This may only be a concern when shooting video. An overall excellent lens for a great price.

Great sharp image quality, absolutely terrible mount and AF performance.
I can't add anything substantial that other reviews haven't already cited. I got this lens in 2020 for hiking and occasional city or astro photography. It focuses VERY close and works as a decent macro. Distortion makes architecture challenging but not impossible. Color and contrast are excellent. Sharpness is surprising for such a cheap lens, too. What isn't great is the ridiculously poorly designed lens mount that requires real force to mount on an A7 series camera. The other is the autofocus, which has difficulty in all lighting and with the slowest-moving of subjects. It's not just the speed but the accuracy and software seems amiss, here, somehow. Like the camera doesn't know what information it's getting, half the time. I suspect Tamron licensed this out to some company and just let them produce something they could cheap out on, aside from the good optics. It's worth $199 - but be warned this isn't a street, party, event or infant lens. It's a flower, (dead) bug (on a calm day), canyon vista lens.

A quality lens at great price--but also compact and light as well, perfect for our Sony A7C
As a telephoto lens fan, I once again am enjoying the unique perspective and storytelling ability a wide-angle lens can offer. Christmas around the tree in our little cottage took on new life, as our grandchild took his place in the family circle, and this lens beautifully captured the controlled chaos of the moment.I had owned a 24-40mm zoom years ago, and had appreciated its ability to capture a unique perspective for black & white landscapes on 35mm film and color slides. But on our latest mirrorless camera, the Sony A7C, it has demonstrated how a wide-angle lens can capture interesting elements in a busy scene without getting in anyone's face.I'm going put down the teles, and mount this lens more often!
