Survival or Emergency Use Tool...
I am not sure why someone would want to use one of these for any serious work. So, I have to look at this and just say that it is 100% just fine for its designed use. What is that..?? Well, I would imagine that you could describe it as an emergency type of tool.I received this saw and immediately decided to try it out. I have an oak tree in front with several branches that I have been meaning to get after for the past several weeks. One of the lower ones was within easy reach and looked to be an ideal candidate for testing. Its was about 1 1/2" to 2" in diameter at the trunk. I threw the chain over the limb and went after it. During the first minute or two it cut fairly well...up until the time I started to sweat and get tired. It wasn't the saw's problem, it was mine. I just didn't have the incentive to work so physically on such a small job. And believe me.... You wouldn't want to attempt a large job.!!!So, here is the substance. This tool works. Pretty much just like it is designed to do. It will definitely cut those branches that offend your sense of purpose or ones that you just need to cut for some reason. Would I want to do this for any normal reason...NO.!! Not as long as I had a chainsaw or even a bow saw available. Even a small axe might be better for some jobs. It is NOT a problem with the tool. It is a problem with time and effort expended to get reasonable results.This saw is perfectly described by the title... "Pocket Chainsaw SURVIVAL Gear" ... And that dear readers is what it should be saved for. I now have this saw carefully packed and stowed in my BOB in my truck. (Bug Out Bag..).
