I had my doubts about bar shampoo and conditioner, especially since some tend to leave your hair waxy and most bar soaps dry out my skin. But I’m trying to eliminate plastic waste as much as possible and beauty products are where I have the most plastic waste, so I got this sampler to “test the waters”.I used the Bliss Bar sample first. Nice smell and lather, felt good on my face. Then afterwards.. omg my skin feels amazing. It’s very moisturizing without being oily.So then I showered, and again, I was skeptical. I have thick, naturally curly hair so I need a lot of moisture. The shampoo bar lathered well and it didn’t take a ton of product to coat my hair. The conditioner didn’t lather, so I was confused about whether or not anything got in my hair. After the shower I used the body butter bar. They were right about a little going a long way. The body butter was immediately my favorite thing. I have really dry skin, and it only took a little bit for my skin to feel amazing.My hair is dry now and I am beyond impressed. No frizz and my hair is so shiny! Even my fancy salon tea tree lavender conditioner doesn’t make my hair this shiny.All in all I highly recommend all these products.

This is my first foray into shampoo bars and conditioners. Glad that the products came in a sample pack- I figured if I liked them, I could re-purchase the larger size and then travel with the sample sizes. On initial use, I did not like the way my hair felt. It did not feel completely clean and my hair was somewhat frizzy after blow-drying. On second use, the shampoo bar and conditioner performed wonderfully. My hair and scalp feel clean and soft. (I heard that one's hair has to adjust to shampoo/conditioner bars. Perhaps my first try was user error, but I am happy I only needed one more attempt to get it right.) The scent is very mild - almost not there, which is okay with me. No competition or clash with a perfume scent if I choose to wear one.I also like the facial bar. I have extremely dry skin so I normally use a creamy cleanser (Cetaphil gentle skin cleanser). This is a nice alternative to that. I am experimenting with Aveeno's facial cleansing bar - Ethique's foams up a bit more but still left my skin feeling good. The moisturizing body bar (aka Butter Block) is interesting. It's best used when skin is damp. It might feel greasy to someone with oilier or normal skin. It's good for me because mine is dry all over. Ylang ylang scent was nice and subtle. Give this sampler a try - it's reasonably priced. I look forward to bringing less liquids on my airline travels, and it will be good to contribute less packaging waste to the landfill.

I purchased this sample pack because I wanted the bliss bar facial cleanser. I tried a sample of it before and was excited to use it again. It's creamy and moisturizing without drying my skin out. I also love that it is in a small heart shape so I can fit it with my other zero-waste bathroom products. However, I did not like the shampoo or conditioner and found that I had a lot of flaking and dandruff after one use. The butter block was kind of nice, but I found its smell to be somewhat earthy and not in a pleasant way. My main disappointment is in the difference in the bliss sample bar. This bar seems more soft than the last bar I received. Even keeping it covered and dry has not helped its taffy-like texture, which is making it dwindle quicker than I had hoped. I love the direction of this company, but may need to stick to my Lush solid conditioners and shampoo.

Hair Type: Dry and fine with a slight wave. I have a lot of hair so it gets tangled very easily. I wash my hair almost everyday. I like feeling clean.I bought this set for the Shampoo and conditioner so my review is focused on those.Background:The only other shampoo bar I’ve used so far is the Blue 2 in 1 from Love Beauty and Planet. It smells AMAZING however, it is VERY drying and even if I use conditioner in conjunction with it, it’s still a bit dry. It also melts a lot. Since Ethique is ethical and uses better ingredients, I wanted to try it even though it is much more expensive and not sold at target.First impression upon opening the box:Solid bars and good sizes for a sample. However, the scent of the moisturizer made all the bars smell earthy, which i personally didn’t like. When I bought a full size of the frizz wrangler separately, I was pleased to find that it wasn’t an earthy scent, it smelled of waxy coconut which i prefer. So you might have the earth scent mask the others if you buy this set.First Impressions of Products and prolonged use:Body Butter - Messy, didn’t even try it. But to be fair, I was never interested. Smell is a no.Face Bar - Made my skin soft, not life changing, but nice. It was easy to use. Again, smelled earthy.Shampoo - Lathered fairly well. Since I’m not used to many shampoo bars, its kind of a learning curve to figure out if you’ve used enough. Felt like normal shampoo.Conditioner. Easy to get product and distribute, and my hair did feel smooth after rinsing. Its conditioner, again, with a learning curve.When I got out of the shower, I noticed a difference in how my hair was much softer even when soaking wet. There was no residue left behind. Yay!My hair has always turned into a tangled nest no matter what I do, so i can’t say my life was changed with using these products, HOWEVER it was easier to brush my hair out. Much smoother than the other conditioners I’ve used. No smell really.When dry/ Throughout the day:There is no scent and my hair was left super soft and not heavy. It still got static, but in the winter, that’s a given for my hair. My hair felt clean all day.The soap bars, with the help of the ethique container don’t seem to melt at all. After 3 washes, there is really no noticeable difference in size.After washing my hair every day for 2 weeks, the shampoo bar is down to half size while the conditiner bar looks barely used.Overall, i’m impressed because they don’t melt really.Overall review: Awesome products will keep using and purchase full sizes. Again, beware of these having an earthy scent to all products because of the moisturizer.
