Hunter Safety System Treestalker Tree-stand Safety Harness Deer Hunting Vest

Saved me some broken appendages
I walked out into my hunting area and climbed up the tree stand, with my gear I'm about 290lbs. Older treestand that has supported my weight for the past 3 years. I attached myself to the tree as I always do since my old hunting buddy fell 25' and snapped his leg in half. After a couple hours sitting, I stood up slowly to stretch my legs and get ready for Bucky to walk in on me, lifting the seat towards the tree I stood up straight. The next thing I know, it was like a dunk tank, except I was hanging 20' in the air on the side of a tree...The cables let go on the stand and this rig caught me. I will never be in a tree without it. The stitched shock lanyard worked like it was supposed too as well.Don't be a statistic. Get yourself one of these you will be thankful you did!

Has fallen short of previous versions.
I purchased this harness since I out grew my last one from Hunter Safety Systems, which I gave to my brother who also loves it. I was very pleased with my last harness which led me to believe that this same style harness would be comparable. With my previous harness the inside of the vest had material that helped to manage the straps and keep them tangle free. The straps were held in place between the two layers of material. I would put the vest on and snap the connections in a matter of a few seconds I was ready to climb. This vest however turned out to be nothing of the sort. the straps are loosely attached on the inside in only a few spots. There is no inside fabric to manage the straps. The straps tangle up every time I take it on and off. I spend 10 minutes each time I want put it on untangling the components so that it fits properly. It appears that there is little advantage to using this harness over just a normal non vested harness, if not worse. The straps are thinner then they used to be which certainly raises questions. This has made the straps far more prone to twisting and not fitting properly even after untangling. I'm very disappointed that this system has changed for the worse. I use a summit titan climber to hunt from. I have a wife and two kids and I take the possibility of falling out of a tree and not being able to support them very seriously. I tie off the moment my feet leave the ground. This system has made that process very difficult and even more so in the dark. After this season I will be depositing this harness in the garbage and start searching out better alternatives. I'll look into it but I'm pretty sure HSS will not be on my shopping list.

Manufacture date and life span
I bought this harness based on price for my son. It fits him fine and I think it will work perfect for him. My complaint however is the warning label states to take it out of service after 5 years from manufacture date. Even though I just bought it from amazon, the manufacture date was 03/2016. So you’re saying I have already lost 2.5 years of service due to it sitting in warehouse? That is rather disappointing to say the least.

Perfect fit
I am a big guy and this harness fits me perfectly. The 2X/3X says on the tag that it goes out to 60" and I didn't need that much but I can see where it would definitely fit a bigger guy than me. Great price compared to other ones that don't have the vest keeping everything from tangling up. Great product, thanks for thinking of the plus sized boys! Also, was supposed to deliver Tuesday and showed up on Saturday, definitely a welcome surprise!

Best thing I ever bought for treestand hunting next to my cougar claw stand
This is actually my first harness to ever purchase. I've always used the ones that would come with the climbers but we all know those are not always the best. I normally get a little freaked out in a tree and it takes a while to calm down enough to enjoy myself 20' off the ground. I bought 2 things this year. A cougar claw den2 climber with the LS system and this harness. For the first time in forever, I got to the 20' mark....and actually settled in and relaxed. Partly its the stand. But that harness just gives me so much more peace of mind while in the tree. I know I can't fall and I'm not "going anywhere". It is very comfortable to wear, easy to put on and is adjustable to fit your body. You can't even tell you are wearing it. It goes well over a big bulky coat as well. Doesnt make a sound or impede my movement be it drawing a bow or sighting down a barrel. I can get up, turn, bend at the waist etc. No impedence to movement, no jangling or metal sounds either. It has a great accessory list as well and I love that I can latch on to the line while i climb and use the harness while I'm in my climb. Highly recommend.

Great Quality
Seems to be good quality. Easy to put on with heavy duty clips instead of one with crazy straps everywhere. I feel that my husband will be safe wearing it. Got this style for a great price.

Budget model, not so good
Definitely a step down from my other HSS vest/harness. Lighter, cheaper materials, thinner straps that get tangled... it’s going to be a back up after I repair my older / better HSS vest.
