Bodum French Press Replacement Glass - 34 Oz, Thick Heat Resistant Borosilicate Glass Carafe

After owning my Bodum 34 oz french press for 5+ years, I managed to break the original glass beaker 2 week ago, so I found this replacement beaker here on Amazon and I had to order it because the price was excellent. Two days later it was delivered in perfect shape in a cardboard box and the beaker is double bubble wrapped inside of the box. Amazon gets credit as they put the box in a bubbled recycled hard paper package when delivered by an Amazon direct.When I took this 34 oz. Pura Vida beaker out of the Pura Vida box, I noticed the following:1. The glass is noticeably thicker then the original Bodum beaker, which is excellent because the original one was thin and fragile.2. The edge of the beaker has significant flare that gives it a good edge when inserting the press and when cleaning the beaker.3. The beaker itself is 1/8" taller then the original beaker because the glass wall is thicker, but the outside diameter is perfect to slide into my original Bodum metal holder.4. The inside diameter of beaker is perhaps 1/32" narrower now because of the thicker glass wall, but my Bodum press slides in perfectly fine and creates a tight seal with zero coffee grinds escaping.Overall, I've been using the new Pura Vida beaker for 3 days now, it is awesome and looks great, but best is it functions flawlessly. If you are replacing a Bodum 34 oz. french press, do not fear because it is a perfect fit and works perfectly!

Annoyed that the Bodum carafe for my 34 ounce French Press costs almost as much as a new entire unit, I was about to place the order when I saw this. At least one review said the glass was thicker than the original which sounded good as the original one has always worried me as it seemed so fragile (but, it lasted for years and only broke because I accidentally hit it with my heavy glass coffee mug). The replacement unit doesn't fit in the metal holder as tightly as the original, and is very slightly shorter, but neither is an issue, and most importantly the plunger works fine inside. I weighed the two carafes (the old one was missing a tiny part of the spout where I hit it) and the old one came in a 279 grams and the new one at 270. If you look at the image of the two of them, you will see that the original is a different type of glass with the distinct green cast. Reviews have mentioned heat-related breaking, so I am guessing this is a lesser-quality glass. Note also in the other image that, amazingly, the manufacturer didn't properly place the nice graphic BELOW the band. All in all I think it will be fine, and I certainly liked the price!

I got this as a replacement for my Bodum french press. It fit perfectly and seems very sturdy and durable. It was priced well, too. I would have spent twice as much to replace the entire unit when all I needed was the carafe.

The replacement glass is thicker than the original and other replacement options that I have used. Because the glass is thicker, it doesn't fit perfectly. However the fit is secure, functional, and for me, good enough. The the added durability is worth an imperfect fit. I have found the thinner replacement glass is porcilin thin and easy to break. This product is much more robust. I have several Bodum French presses distributed in my camper, our cabin, and at home. All of them are the plastic frame type that have some play to accommodate the thicker glass, I'm not sure how this glass will fit in a metal framed press.

I have used this french press glass vial for a month or so, and it has always maintained appropriate social distance. So I'm keeping it.In seriousness, why doesn't anyone make a higher-quality french press glass thingy that doesn't break when you drop it in your sink? My Corningware glass baking pans don't ever break, ever. That's why Corning sold the production rights to the product and moved on to other things--you never need to buy new ones. I suspect the answer is like airlines--when customers primarily care about cost, quality suffers.Anyhoo, I'm one of those folks who cares about cost, and at the time of purchase this was the lowest bidder in the French Press Glass Refill category. So far, it hasn't broken or lived up to any of the horror story posts. It's great as long as a) you don't drop it while washing it, and b) you don't mind the nice logo on the glass.

After several years the glass of my Linkyo press cracked. I could not find a replacement but took a chance on this on. Fit is a little loose, but works fine. I wish the Linkyo was still available, I would have purchased a whole new unit. Most presses available seem to use plastic tops...... no thanks.I preheat the glass with hot tap water before starting the coffee process. I'm hoping this reduces the thermal shock to avoid cracking the glass.

Item was well packaged and secure when it arrived. The material was thicker that the original glass but this is good. Still fits in the holder and is more durable and just has a more solid feel to it. Very happy with this product and will be replacing my other carafe's with this item.

So far I've been using this new glass replacement and I am not having any issues. Works wonderful
