Highly Effective, Gentle, and Worth It for Acne-Prone Skin
This acne treatment gel is one of the best skincare products I've used. It’s powerful yet gentle, and it really delivers on clearing breakouts and preventing new ones. 🔹 Clears Acne & Helps Prevent New Breakouts It works deep into pores to target acne at the source — rather than just drying out existing pimples, it helps stop new ones from forming. After a few weeks of use, I noticed fewer breakouts and smoother skin overall. 🔹 Gentle Enough for Sensitive Skin Even though it’s a retinoid and highly effective, the formula is water-based, oil-free, and non-comedogenic. It didn’t irritate my skin or cause excessive dryness — you get the power of a prescription-strength product with a surprisingly gentle finish. 🔹 Improves Skin Texture and Reduces Acne Marks Over time, my skin tone looked more even, and old blemishes faded faster. It not only treats active acne but also helps with discoloration and overall smoothness. 🔹 Easy Daily Use & Real Results It integrates easily into a nightly skincare routine. Once applied, it absorbs quickly and layers well under moisturizer. Within a few weeks, skin felt clearer and healthier — you can actually see the difference on breakouts, tone, and texture. ✅ Pros: Powerful acne treatment that works deep in pores Helps prevent future breakouts instead of just treating existing ones Gentle enough for sensitive/acne-prone skin Improves skin texture and marks over time Easy to use daily and delivers real results ❌ Cons (minor): Skin may feel slightly dry at first — best to pair with a good moisturizer Overall: If you struggle with acne or frequent breakouts, this gel is a game-changer. Effective, gentle, and noticeable results — a solid 5-star product that I’d recommend without hesitation.

Worth Stocking Up On
Every time I'm in the US, I make sure to pick up Differin. It's much harder to get abroad, as in many other countries, you either need a prescription for adapalene or it simply isn't sold at all. As long as your skin tolerates adapalene, I think it's a great addition to a skincare routine. This is my first time buying the pump version. I'd only used the original tube before, and while it was a little more travel-friendly, the tube would eventually crack. Because the product lasts such a long time, once that happened, it would get messy, and I'd end up wasting some of it, which was always frustrating. It's not an expensive product, but it's still a shame to waste it. I guess my only concern with the new pump is whether the cap will eventually break as well. Time will tell, but so far I think it's a great improvement. This was also my first time ordering it through Amazon, and I had no issues with the packaging or delivery. Happy to have this back in my skincare routine.

Works for hyperpigmentation
This has really helped with hyperpigmentation. I use it only at night and layer a PM moisturizer. For daytime, I use Vitamin C, moisturizer, and tinted sunscreen. The tinted sunscreen is also an important factor in this process. I used mild hydrating face cleansers daily and did a gentle exfoliation or clay mask once a week. I had some dryness and skin peeling during the first 2 weeks but that steadily improved and was pretty much gone by around day 40. What pleases me even more than the decreased hyperpigmentation is how silky smooth my entire face feels. Picture is plain face with maybe only moisturizer, but no makeup and no retouch.

My skin feels dry
I’ve been using Differin gel to help with breakouts, and it has noticeably improved my skin over time. It works well, but it can make my skin feel dry, so I recommend using a good moisturizer along with it.

A great option for teenagers struggling with oily skin and occasional acne.
I bought this for my teenager who has very oily skin and was getting tired of dealing with stubborn forehead acne. She has been using Differin Gel 0.1% Adapalene on the areas where breakouts appear, and we have been very happy with the results. It has helped calm down her acne and seems to prevent some new breakouts from becoming worse. She likes that it is easy to apply, the pump makes it convenient and keeps the product clean, and a little goes a long way. This has become a great addition to her skincare routine. It does take consistency and patience to see results, but for us, it has been worth it.

Cleared up my acne!
I struggled with acne for years, and I noticed a huge difference after pairing this gel with Differin's 10% benzoyl peroxide foaming cleanser every night followed by CeraVe moisturizer. Before switching to Differin, I tried Tretinoin for a while, and it made my acne worse. I simplified my morning products as well. I either pair COSRX Snail Mucin face wash with Cerave moisturizer or a Neutrogena sunscreen. I also started using a washcloth on my face to scrub in the products. I was only using my hands before, and I didn't realize how dirty my skin was until I used a white rag. I use a clean one each time I wash my face. I'm Black, and I grew up using washcloths. I only switched to solely using my hands to wash my face when I started watching skincare videos in high school. I should've known better... You live, and you learn ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I use generic Walmart washcloths. I go through a lot of them because I use a different washcloth every time I shower as well! If you struggle with body acne and don't use any type of exfoliating tool in the shower, I definitely recommend trying one out 👍🏽

Might irritate and burn your skin, will also possibly break you out at first
This makes my skin very dry when I apply it, my face also burns when I put my moisturizer on. If I don’t use the differin, my face will not burn with my moisturizer, I think it can be normal to have a burning/stinging sensation when using it. For me a pea sized amount rubbed into my skin so quickly, I had to use more than that. I still had acne while using this, I think it may have reduced the size of my pores a little. But I already have inflammation and redness in my face and this did not help it, I think overall it irritated my skin barrier and didn’t resolve my acne. Everyone’s skin is different, so it may not be like this for everyone!

1 YEAR REVIEW for Pimples and ANTI-AGING!
I am writing this review after being on Differin for 1 year. I started Differin just a few months before my 45th birthday. I had never really dove real deep into a skincare routine before. Just washing my face and using a basic retinol cream. You can see from my photos that I definitely had deep wrinkles, fine lines, uneven tone, texture, and dry skin especially under my eyes, occasional breakouts, blackheads, large pores, and some scars from popping pimples. I still don’t have a real complicated skin care routine now. I’m just starting to add more active treatments, so the results in the photos are primarily Differin and moisturizer. I have to say what gets me the most are my under eyes and lips in these photos. Because retinoids migrate up to 2 inches when absorbed, I didn’t really use a separate treatment product on my eyes or lips. Just a cream and lip balm. I got the idea to use Differin AKA Adapalene from watching Dr. Maren Locke (The Budget Dermatologist) on YouTube. She said it’s a great budget option for a powerful retinoid that’s prescription strength when you’re dealing with wrinkles but still breakout. If you haven’t seen her videos I highly recommend you check them out. Especially the ones about Differin and how to introduce it to your skin. I followed her instructions to a T and I’m glad I did! Don’t think that if you’ve used retinol for a while you’re safe from irritation. I wasn’t, this stuff is Retinoic Acid just a little more gentle than Tretinoin. It does not have to make any conversions in your skin before it gets to work. Unlike retinol- 2 conversions and retinal- 1 conversion. It is strong!! And it absolutely works for pimples and everything else I mentioned above. I do not regret trying this and giving my skin the time it needed to adjust completely (it took about 8 wks). During your adjustment period I strongly suggest you put aside anything with Hyaluronic Acid in it. It will pull the Differin deeper into your skin and can increase irritation. Also maybe lay off other actives if you can. Sunscreen is an MUST and my skin did not like chemical sunscreens during this period. I had redness during this time and increased sensitivity to the sun. I didn’t have too much peeling but my skin definitely liked moisturizer. Here’s what I used to help adjust and keep the irritation low and bearable. Morning: Vanicream gentle facial cleanser (pump), La Roche-Posay Toleraine Double Repair Moisturizer, Australian Gold mineral tinted sunscreen spf 50. Night: same cleanser, then I used the sandwich method for applying the differin. I used the same moisturizer, applied the differin, then applied more moisturizer. Doing this really helped me! My result photos: I’m gonna give full disclosure so you can make an informed decision about this product. My before photo was taken during the day, indoors with the light on. I was also about 30 pounds heavier than I am now. Yay! My 1 year later photos I am almost 46, they were taken at night but indoors with the light on. My skin looks red but it’s not. That’s just the lighting difference. Both photos are just straight up my skin, up close and personal lol. I’m not wearing makeup nor had I done my nighttime routine yet. I also don’t have any lip balm on. It’s just me. Before picture is on the left and 1 year on the right. My forehead photo before is on the bottom and 1 year on the top. I’m also going to try to find an adjustment period photo. It won’t be split and I am super red. I will without a doubt continue to use this as my retinoid everyday. The only way I’d stop is if I was able to get Tretinoin. THIS STUFF WORKS and it’s AFFORDABLE!

Dried my skin
I used it only for 3 days and it dried my skin so much that I had red patches. Stopped using immediately
