Well Worth The Price
If you are having difficulty with sight picture alignment because of "old" eyes, like I was, I looked for a solution and stumbled across the UM tactical sight mount for red dot sights. I read all the reviews, and finally pulled the trigger (pun intended) and purchased the UM tactical sight mount, Burris fast fire III red dot sight and UM tactical UMH3CR universal holster for my 4" XD45. The mount goes on easily and in seconds. It is a great fit and is a quality build. The Burris fast fire III is really, really small, but fits the XD45 size perfectly, and the UMH3CR universal holster is a great fit for the UM mount. It is a great hip holster and is not as cumbersome as it "looks" like it would be. I could not have made a better choice and am very pleased with this 3 item addition to my XD45. I highly recommend these 3 items to any of the many handguns, and their owners, that they will fit. My only snivel (there is always 1 right?) is that Burris's red dot will, at times, go off, then within 2-3 seconds come back on after taking the shot. I don't know if this is natural (for $214) it shouldn't be, but all I had to do was (if it was a hurry next shot) use the iron sights that 1 time and for the next trigger squeeze the dot would be back on. Being retired Army Infantry from many years ago, I am kinda used to items that don't always work as they should and have "quirks" that must be dealt with. All in all, I am happy for the purchase and overall "ease of firing" that I now have with my XD45.

Quality for the money!
So I initially wanted this for my HK P30sk but I have a matchweight attached to my pistol so the UM3 rail mount won't fit. Otherwise, it woulda been a great mod to add to my firearm. However, I did attach it to my Sig X5 Legion and works fine. I have yet to attach the optic to it so we'll see! Quality and build is A+!

Great performance on a metal frame. Mediocre on polymer guns.
So, I am a competitive shooter. I'm not sponsored, but I do pretty well at the amateur level in 3-gun and Steel Challenge. I win my class in most of the local matches that I frequent, and they are usually more precision oriented. I am not really a fan of optics on pistols, and I shoot in the most restrictive classes where I have to use iron sights on my pistol anyway. However, I have been itching to see what kind of accuracy my pistols are capable of without having to go all-in on a ransom rest. This mount seemed like a good choice since I could use a pistol scope or red dot from a bag rest to get a good idea of what the pistols can do. Today was my first time using the mount. I tried it on a Gen3 Glock 17L, a Gen3 Glock 17, a Polmer80 PF940 frame, an M&P45 Full Size, a CZ P-09 9mm, a CZ SP-01 9mm, a S&W MP22 Compact, a Beretta M9A1-22. The mount slid on snugly on all the pistols, and when my red dot (Bushnell TRS25) was tightened onto the rail, the connection was solid. Since you can still easily use the iron sights while the rail is mounted, setting the dot to the same point as the irons was easy and got me on paper for the first shot with each pistol. When I began testing different ammunition from each gun I found some issues that potential buyers should be aware of. I can usually shoot 2-2.5" 5-shot groups from a rest with each of these pistols using the iron sights and ammo that they like. My polymer-framed guns were doing around 3" on average with some uncalled fliers. Clearly, when the polymer rail on the frame flexes under recoil it does not reset to the same spot each time. On a metal-framed pistol this mount really shows what a pistol is capable of. On the SP-01 I fired five 5-shot groups with 5 differenmt types of ammo. With irons I normally get my same 2-2.5" groups at 25 yards. With poor lighting and a red dot on the UM3 my best group was 5/8" using Browning Performance Target 147 grain. 4 out of 5 shots were touching, and the 5th just left a tiny bit of paper between the rest of the group. 3 of the other ammunitions grouped around an inch, and the final ammunition was about 1.5". I honestly had no idea that this bone stock pistol could shoot so well. I went to the 50 yards line and was able to stand and shoot steel PPC 10-ring sized plates over and over again without a miss. I cannot do that consistently with irons even on a good day. Unfortunately, this mount will not be capable of showing me what my polymer-framed guns are capable of, which is disappointing. I think potential buyers should be aware of this issue on polymer pistols. While it is not really a shortcoming of the product itself, and really that of the rail on a polymer gun, it is still an issue of compatability. Now, if you have a polymer pistol, and 3" or a little worse groups at 25 yards are acceptable for your application, by all means go for this mount. The added weight of the mount and a red dot made recoil even more controllable, and I was able to run a Glock plate rack a little faster than I usually can with irons. All-in-all I think this is a good product, but it doesn't fully fill the role that I hoped it would.

I rarely write a review but felt like I should for this product
I rarely write a review but felt like I should for this product. After a couple of hundred rounds the mount appears to work perfectly on my CZ 75 SP01 AccuShadow mounting a Trijicon RM06. The mount installs easily and holds its zero. I plan to buy another in the near future. While I would prefer a milled slide, this is an excellent option for mounting a red dot without the hassle of having the slide modified on the pistol. There's plenty of room between the front sight blade and the mount so the slide cycles without any problem and since the shell casing ejects while the slide is cycled toward the butt of the pistol, the mount doesn't interfere with the ejection port. So far I couldn't be happier with the product and it arrived promptly as promised.

Caused slide friction with CZ P07 polymer frame
Bought this to use with my new CZ P07 (polymer frame). The mount functions as advertised and is well made. However, when the sight was tightened and the top rail halves were brought together, the bottom part that attaches to the rail also squeezed the sides of the frame enough to increase friction on the slide. You could rack the slide, but it was much harder. The gun would fire, however the slide did not stay open at the end of the magazine because it wasn't going back far enough. Had to return it. I imagine it would be fine with a metal frame, or with a more rigid polymer frame.

Needs shim to zero
Usage Glock 17 with Advantage Arms 22lr conv. Shooting in club steel challenge matches. The good. The mount itself is decently constructed. Finish is smooth and even, it even matches the color of my glock slide well. The mount is easy to install and fits securely to the firearms rail. The bad. I tried several red dots, my go to rds for 22 the fieldsport red green, burris fastfire and the hs507c seen in photo. Due to the height over bore i could not achieve a proper zero. The holosun w/ 50 moa elevation came the closest, but was still several inches high at 20 yds. The fix is simple, use shims to mount the rds. There are shims available for rmr, vortex and most major red dots. I used a single rmr 1 degree shim($8). I just wish i had known it going in so I would not have wasted so much time trying different sights and waiting for shipping. Bottom line...I would buy and use again. I would just make sure to order the appropriate shim at the same time.

Some Difficulties
I had a few issues when installing the mount. I have a set of Recover CC3 grips on my 1911 instead of an actual rail. The rail on the grips is slightly lower than an actual frame rail. I had to do some grinding to the mount due to contact with the slide. It also seems that the sight I have mounted is slightly rolled to the left. However, I am able to hit my target fine and I am not seeing any adjustments when firing. I was not expecting a racegun quality mount, but I was hoping for an easier installation and for a level sight mounting. Overall quality is good, not great. I would recommend a more precision mount if you are wanting to do serious activities. For plinking, this seems to work fine.
