First-time Juicer
So, this is my first juicer purchase. I can't compare the Waring to other juicers, but it worked perfectly and is competitively priced.Out of the box impressions: It was about 25% larger than I expected (picture posted to compare to single-serving Keurig coffee-maker). Assembly was easy. The directions were simple and clear, and, fortunately, provide you step-by-step instructions on use (not just assembly, disassembly, and cleaning), including how to feed common items into the machine. The instruction booklet also contains some sample recipes, which is nice, as the internet juice recipe sites are ad-riddled and/or written by people a bit more into that juice/detox lifestyle than I'm looking to commit to, and I wasn't sure where to begin. Great-looking piece of equipment, as expected and pictured.First use impressions: Very easy to use. Similar in sound and time to a garbage disposal. I didn't notice any oily smell--just juice. I got one teeny-tiny bit of blowback from a cucumber before I got the feed tube over it. I got a full 16 ounces of juice from 4 carrots, 3 celery heart stalks, 1 fuji apple, and a third of a medium-sized cucumber. Clean up is reasonably easy (there is a lot of pulp in the collector, which is kind of gross); all the parts in contact with the food and juice that require cleaning are machine-washable, but they will take up more than half of the top rack of a standard dishwasher (also pictured).First taste impressions: I expected disaster on my first attempt (4 carrots, 3 celery heart stalks, 1 fuji apple, 1/3 cucumber). With a squirt of lemon juice, it was actually somewhere between okay and good. I'll cut back on the celery next time, and probably just make half as much.Bottom line: From start (cutting up and cleaning produce) to finish (all parts rinsed and in dishwasher), it took me about 20 minutes. With regular use, I expect that time would be cut in half. If you're like me, and want to experiment with making juice a couple of days a week, I doubt you could do better for price and performance. You'll probably even be pretty happy with the end product. Clean up isn't an excusable deterrent either. This juicer offers a do-able way to try adding juice to your diet without a tremendous front-end investment.

My First Juicer is a Keeper
After considering juicing for several months, I finally decided on this model as my very first juicer. I knew I wanted an extractor type rather than a citrus or masticator juicer, but was leery of the lower price of this model. Would it be a disappointment, would it break after 2 or 3 uses, would I wish I had spent $100-150? Would I even like carrot juice or would I lose interest after one or two attempts? Well, I have been delighted all the way around with this juicer and the whole juicing experience. First, right out of the box, it is easy to put together. The product manual is simple but thorough, including easy to understand instructions on how to assemble and clean it. (No recipes however.) The black plastic is sturdy, and the stainless steel cup for collecting the juice is nice and easy to grasp. I have arthritis in my hands and these parts snap together and apart very easily with no strain on my hands. Easier than my blender actually. The juicing process: the chute will hold 2 large or 3 medium size carrots at a time, takes only seconds for each group to be juiced. No splashing of juice all over countertops either. Veggies I have used include carrots, beets, celery, and I have done apples, all with great results. I love the taste of the fresh juice.Pulp: I can juice a 2lb bag of carrots without having to empty the pulp. Might could do more, but I don't think it would hold 2 2lb bags worth. I found a good recipe for carrot muffins to utilize the pulp (delicious). It comes out pretty dry to me and I'm happy with the quantity of juice I get.Cleanup: OK - takes a bit longer than some reviewers state. The juicer blade gets pulpy and needs to be cleaned well after each batch of veggies with a scrub brush. If you don't, it looks like it might eventually get kind of clogged. The plastic and stainless parts wash up very easily, and the whole unit can be wiped off with a damp rag. Cleanup IS easy, it just takes maybe 10 minutes rather than 3-5 minutes, counting drying off the parts and putting the unit away in pantry.Other supplies I use: I bought a couple sizes of mason jars with the banded lids to store my juices in the fridge for a day or two. A bottle brush to get the carrot-y residue off the inside of jars, and a veggie scrubbing brush with handle to clean the veggies in sinkful of water before juicing.BOTTOM LINE: this is an excellent juicer! I can't imagine I'm missing anything by not spending that extra $100 - just doesn't seem necessary to spend that much. This one will work for me for quite some time to come.

Yeesh. Why did I buy this junk?
Sometimes you have to learn the hard way.First - this thing doesn't juice all that efficiently. Wanna find that out for real? Go buy a GOOD juicer, and use it. This thing starts looking like a massive waste of time and money the moment you try a better juicer.Next - think this is a good price? Think again. The lid on the pulp container is stupidly designed with an easily broken protrusion on the bottom right which acts as a safety - the juicer will not turn on unless the lid is on. Of course, when that protrusion breaks, it won't turn on then either. Replacements are $12 or so, plus shipping. Note that I got mine from an Amazon Store called "Small Appliance". Don't get me started. They suck beyond all human comprehension, but at least they called me a week after I'd already bought a better product. Hey: They may not be good, but they sure are slow! The replacements do not fit. So you get an RMA and ship the replacement back (your dime) and get another replacement...That does not fit. How the heck did this happen? Waring only has one part like this anywhere, ever, and it doesn't fit? So I get a lot of shipping charges to return the ill-fitting cover, and by now I have spent enough to buy a better product in the first place.TL;DR: Don't. Spend a little more. You'll be happier, it'll waste less, and it'll last longer.
