Excellent Study Bible for personal and family devotions. Although I will read certain modern translations of the Bible, I prefer the KJV because it was the first Protestant Translation I ever owned (having been born into a Roman Catholic family) and because I read the Douay Rheims translation in the Bishop Challoner revision. I rather like the use of "thou" and "You" rather than the modern grammatical simplification of the English language for scripture reading because using both denotes whether intimacy or formality is indicated by the scripture passage. Of course, I don't speak or write this way. I also own the ESV translation which is used for The Lutheran Study Bible, a copy of the NASB translation, and also the NKJV which is used for the New Testament in the Orthodox Study Bible. I still own a copy of the Challoner's revision of the Douay Rheims.Why did I pick the Reformation Heritage Study Bible over Reformation Study Bible published by Ligonier Ministries? They are both excellent study Bibles. Both would receive 5 Star ratings from me. In fact, several years ago I purchased an earlier edition of the Reformation Study Bible, which I ended up giving to someone who needed a bible. The Reformation Study Bible is an excellent study bible for students especially. The newer edition has even better commentary than the previous edition, and includes the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith in edition to the creeds and confessions included in the Reformation Heritage Study Bible. The latest edition of the Reformation Study Bible is the result of improvements going back to the New Geneva Bible. The Reformation Study Bible has withstood the test of time.Yet, the Reformation Heritage Study Bible has features that make it attractive for family worship and devotional study. At the end of each chapter of each book of the Bible there is a section called Thoughts for Personal / Family Worship. This helps to stimulate meditation and contemplation of the chapter that has just been studied. A similar feature exists in The Lutheran Study Bible. Also, the topical articles in the Reformation Heritage Study Bible appear to be more for family devotional study. Thus, the Reformation Heritage Study Bible is designed to meet the needs of the New Christian or a family, while the Reformation Study Bible is designed for the advanced student.For those who don't want to deal with modern Bible translations, where there is a need to engage modern Higher Criticism, the Reformation Heritage Study Bible offers the traditional KJV translation. If finances allow, I do intend to eventually purchase the Reformed Study Bible NKJV edition that will be available next month from Ligonier, but for me personally, the Reformation Heritage Study Bible KJV translation is one I regularly use.

When I first opened this study Bible, I was a little disappointed that there aren't as many notes as others. But after reading it, I can see that the authors focused on quality (which is excellent) over quantity. The study notes provide an orthodox Reformed view and helpful explanations for any archaic sayings in the King James Version. The reflection questions are thought-provoking. I also love that the main Reformed confessions and catechisms (with Scripture proofs!) are in the back, which will make using these study tools much easier.This is a well-made Bible too. The cover is quality. The pages are a little thin (but the tiny bleed through is not distracting or too much), and the type is easy to read. Also, I never realized how helpful two ribbons were until I started using them.All in all, this has replaced the ESV Reformation Study Bible as my main study Bible. I look forward to profiting from it in the years to come.

About 15 years ago I was listening to a sermon by Alan Cairns where he challenged Mike Barrett to issue a study Bible which updates and explains archaic words and phrases from the KJV. I am thankful that Joel Beeke brought Barrett on board to make that request a reality! As the name implies, the notes are from a reformed and covenantal perspective. Before this, I had not been able to find a KJV Study Bible that was not dispensation in nature. The "Notes for Family Worship" alone is worth the price of the book. If you have not seen a sample yet, at the end of each chapter the editors have one or two application paragraphs under "Notes for Family Worship." These are tremendous. I have bought the hardback and the kindle version. I enjoy both equally. I have been using this as my daily study Bible since purchasing it and have not been disappointed a single day. It is edifying, encouraging, challenging, and convicting.

Great timing of get this study bible before thanksgiving.This RHSB is perfect for devotional Bible reading! I have ESVSB, NIVSB, and RSB. I compare all comments on Mt6:31-34 in these four study bibles. I like the comment of RHSB the best. Although it's only a few verses, we could get a hint.Also, after every chapter, RHSB has a Thoughts for Personal/Family worship session. I like this the most!! If you use M'Cheyne' reading plan, this bible is the one you need.It includes some articles about different theology topics, a basic systematic theology preview. It will be a great help for personal study.A brief chur history, creeds and confessions are included at the end of the book.If you believe the Bible is the word of God and like the old puritans' teaching, get this Bible! You won't regret. If you want to find a bible for devotion, get it. That's what it's for.One thing you need to know is that there's no cross link system. However, I believe enough cross bible cites in the comments.

I love the large size of this and the cover feels and looks exactly like leather.I have the Macarthur study Bible and the Reformation ESV Bible but love this one best. I love the confessions in the back and especially love the family study section after each chapter. The study notes are easy to read and understand. I would love to take the study notes from all 3 of these Bibles and compile them into one page so I can compare them since they would complement one another.

Nice bible. Even though it is a paste down the leather is so supple that it has the feeling of an edge-lined premium bible. The gold page guilding is not as pronounced as a new version of this bible but I knew that I was buying a new-used bible (see picture: this one is the top heritage reformed study bible compared to a new vachetta heritage reformed study bible on the bottom). Still worth the price. This bible has a lot of useful study notes and every time I am reading through and don’t understand a KJV word an alternative definition almost always appears in the footnote.

Amazing and blessing resource! I'm glad to hear that it's been published in Portuguese by Editora Cultura Cristã. The navigation system in Kindle Edition is great!

This is a great study Bible. We have too many study Bibles these days and it is difficult to pick and choose among them. However, the Reformation Heritage Study Bible (in Dollaro Leather which is actually Calf Split leather) is among the very best. It has a conservative approach to understanding the Bible and uses the timeless and beloved KJV version (difficult and archaic KJV words are explained in the appropriate study notes).The study notes are ample and very useful. It also has many additional materials such as How to live a Christian life, Church Creeds, Church history, etc.. The size is also quite manageable for a 2000 page Study Bible and it is beautifully made. It arrives in plastic shrink wrap inside a protective cardboard box. This Bible has 2 black ribbons. Go for it if you are on the lookout for a solid conservative study Bible which will last you for years. Highest recommendations !

Excelente edición de la clásica biblia King James inglesa en la edición Cambridge. Con multitud de articulos doctrinales y sistematicos. Además tiene un comentario a casi cada versiculo, con pequeña sinopsis de cada capítulo y ayuda a la aplicación personal y familiar también por capitulo. Ideal para devotos reformados. La adquirí por muy buen precio durante la semana del black friday. Con plan de lectura de un año y demás. Bravo el editor Joel Beeke.

Eine sehr gute Bibel, besonders wegen den Erklärungen zu den meisten Versen und sowie dem Teil zur Reflexion am Endes jedes Kapitels.Die Bibel ist sehr umfangreich, und beschreibt jedes Buch, den Übergang zum neuen Testament, und beinhaltetet zusätzlich noch weiteres wie z.B. die Katechismen. Ein Muss meiner Meinung nach, besonders auch wenn man Bibelstunden leitet.
