bad product
The first vacudome I recieved did not work. It appeared to be a return. I believce Macy's just sent out an item that they knew did not work. They sent a replacement. After a couple of weeks it did not work either. I like the idea of what this product should do but even when it appeared to be working, it did not accomplish anything. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!

Good Unit, if you get one that holds a vacuum!
I purchased two of these units from 1SaleADay for $20 each. Mine works fine. It holds a vacuum for at least a day before it cycles on and off. I use it to store bananas, and it keeps the fruit flies from multiplying. That being said, the bananas do not actually stay fresh any longer. The peals don't turn brown, but the inside is just as mushy after a few days as a banana left on the counter. I've never tried it with bread, though. The second one I gave to my dad, and it worked initially, but now appears to have a leak in either the vacuum pump or one of the connecting tubes. It cycles on and off every few minutes. So now he just uses it to store bananas, and again, it keeps off the fruit flies!I'd buy another one, but not for $80.A lot of these are on sale at eBay, as returned units that do not work. So it's a hit and miss proposition if you decide to buy one!

Can I give it a Zero??
I had the same problem as the other reviewer. The box they sent this in wasn't even the product box. So it was just sitting loosely in a normal cardboard box. Not a big deal except the foam inserts were just sitting on top of the item doing nothing and the box itself was twice as large as the item, so it was banged around in there quite a bit. Also, the manual was wet for some reason (no idea why) and peeled apart so I couldn't even read it.The item doesn't even hold it's vacuum seal without having it on at all times, which doesn't make any sense as it will attempt to re-vacuum itself every minute, and it's fairly loud. It will stay sealed for maybe a minute, but then immediately all the air comes out. No idea why.Based on the other reviewers experience, I'm not even going to waste my time returning this item. Will just chalk it up as a loss. At least it was only $20 when I got it and not $60. But I guess this experience also dictates why it was deeply discounted and on One Sale A Day.BOTTOM LINE: Don't get suckered in by this product. It's an incredible idea and theoretically should be awesome. In reality it's just a waste of your time and your counters space.Side Note: I've bought a few items from One Sale A Day and they've all been well packaged and well received. I'm not sure why this one was a horrible experience.

Works for Me
I also ordered this item from One Sale A Day, in fact I ordered two since they were only $20. I wanted to use one for breads and such and the other for fruits & veggies. The only complaint I have so far is that this thing is huge. I did not expect it to be that large (didn't pay attention to the measurements). I have only setup one so far, over 2 weeks and it works great. I suspect that the one reviewer that had a problem with it holding a vacuum had a defective unit. When I removed the units from the box I could not open the lid because the units still had their vacuum. The one that is in use holds just fine, we always turn the switch off after it takes all the air out. Unlike the other reviewers both of my units appear to be brand new, in factory sealed boxes. I am pleased with the product at this time, hopefully will get some long use out of them.

THIS IS A GREAT PRODUCT!
I've had this product for about 6-8 months now and love it! I use it for my breads. The bread stays soft and the mold does not develop on them for well over a two week period. The vacuum will not hold if any part of the bread wrapper is sticking over the side of the bin, even a tiny bit. Just make sure that the plastic does not stick out.
