Since I bought this shaving soap a week ago, I have received two unwanted and very unnecessary emails from Viking Revolution asking me about this product. Here's the deal: there's a fine line between good customer service and spamming the customer to the point of being annoying (and yes, you've crossed it).In these modern days where our online profiles are more and more used against the consumer, I'm quite disappointed in both Viking Revolution and Amazon for allowing these spamming emails to happen and I question the privacy of my information with Amazon.The shaving soap is okay. Yep, it smells good and it does what it says. But I'm quite disappointed that I am now the recipient of their unwanted marketing scheme.

A truly generic poorly conceived interpretation of sandlewood that was probably someone's last task on a Friday afternoon before a three day weekend. If you are looking genuine sandlewood scent I can promise you will be genuinely disappointed. The product may perform okay I didn't get past opening the lid and enduring one whiff. Having said that, if I may suggest changing the name of the scent to "Hot piss from a cat on antibiotics". I feel that would set a more accurate expectation for the customer and may potentially open up a whole new market.

I find it amusing that 'VIKING' keeps showing up in shaving products. That aside, the product is absolutely excellent. The container is sturdy and should travel well and survive multiple drops.When I opened the container I wasn't sure about the scent, but I dabbed just a touch on my finger and rubbed it in with my thumb; the scent is amazing once applied to your face; very masculine, smooth and refined.Speaking of smooth, this stuff is extremely concentrated and you just need a little bit on the very tips of your brush to bring up a thick rich foam that'll fill your bowl. I use both a QSHAVE scuttle and a SUPPLY marble bowl. I mix in the SUPPLY bowl and the texture in addition to the VIKINGS BLADE badger bristle brush I use just makes this explode into a thick, rich, full lather.It likes a surprising amount of water; if you aren't getting a great lather, you probably don't have enough water (which is somewhat counterintuitive if you've used soaps where you had to limit water). This also means you get a good, hot lather which feels amazing on the face. It rinses easily and cleanly and leaves a nice hint of sandalwood scent. The ingredients are fantastic and leave my skin feeling amazing, soft, and pliable all day; it moisturizes your skin and leaves you feeling great. I wish they made bar or bodywash in this scent!This is a great value too. There are plenty of companies selling stuff for $5 more (at least). This outperforms The Art of Shaving sandalwood in every respect and it is more than twice as much for slightly less.100% would recommend. 100% will buy again. In fact, I even bought some for my sons.

It’s an understatement to say that I’m sensitive to perfumes and other artificial scents. I’ve dismissed more than one hot date who failed to heed my advance warning not to apply any perfumed products like: perfume (duh), perfumed soap, shampoo, scented hand sanitizers, laundry detergents, dryer sheets, etc for three days prior to our dates. I’ve also ordered MANY products that claim to be unscented, only to apply them and suffer a three-day raging headache.I’m happy to report that Viking Revolution Premium Luxury Shaving Cream for Sensitive Skin- Unscented, not only gives my head a smooth shaving surface, but it smells as close to nothing as a product can smell. This is a HUGE deal for the scent-sensitive man. This product will not only help men like me, but also their partners who may also have an extreme scent sensitivity.Vikings fought with an axe. They didn’t smell like Axe. Thanks guys!

Update on 08/24/19 : This cream’s scent is subtle and I thought it was weak but after few more uses, it really grows on you and is very pleasant. This cream lathers nicely and it is one of the smoothest and slickest item I’ve shaved with. The residual slickness is absent, however, so those shavers that like to put the lather on once and have their razor go over their face multiple times may not like this. I noticed that this creams cleans up really easily and once you go over the lather with your razor, your face is not very slick. If you use this cream, make sure you re-lather your face for each pass, like it was intended. Some reviewer mentioned that they gave a low review because they were contacted twice (unwanted solicitation is what he called it) and I was contacted the same times. Once to let me know the product had shipped and second time to let them know if I was not perfectly happy with the product. I call that awesome customer service and just that alone tells me this company is here to stay. The more I use this cream, more I feel as if I will keep using this product since I’m amazed at how slick this cream gets, as long as the price stays affordable.I was using shaving soap and a friend of mine gave me a sample of Geo F Trumpers sandalwood shaving cream. It smelled great and was very slick so I decided to shop for some shaving creams. This product had great reviews and the price was just right. I received it today and couldn't wait to try this out! The scent was not really that great and I found that after my second pass, the scent from the bowl could barely be detected. Little dab does go a long way to make nice lather that lasted me 3 passes plus touch-up. It provided nice cushion and lathered on my face evenly. The protection was above average but it was little odd that there was no residual slickness on my face after the pass. That's not necessarily a bad thing since it does clean up nicely. I would be careful to re-lather any areas where your blades would go. I would have no problem keep using this product but when it runs out, I might buy the full size of the Geo F Trumpers to give that a go again. The package was nice and after the shave left my face really soft. Overall, I would recommend this product if you're not really that picky about the scent not being that strong.
