Stop using plastic wrap! Great for asparagus, broccoli
Works like a charm and easy to clean. Very basic: put water in the bottom, put the veggies on the tray and drop the lid on; open the vent and microwave to steam. Have not had an issue with it being too hot to remove from the microwave, but have never used longer than 2 minutes. If you overload it with too much or thicker broccoli (I almost always use broccolini, so rarely an issue), the lid may not sit down tight - too bad there's no clamp to hold it. I usually put a couple of coffee mugs on it while it's on the counter waiting to be placed in the microwave. Not sure this size would work for a family - as a couple, we eat more veggies than protein and we fill it with broccoli just for the two of us. Love that we are no longer using and tossing plastic wrap multiple times a week!

Nuthin' Fishy Here
Got this steamer the day after I ordered it. I could tell it was a quality item right away. At the fish store I picked up some cod filets about 4 inches long and 3/4 inch thick. After letting one filet thaw, I put a little olive oil on top, some salt and pepper and some paprika. Threw in about 6 pieces of aspergas, put some water in the base of the steamer, set the microwave on 50% power for 4 minutes and let 'er fly. Food was not done after 4 minutes so I did it again using the same power and time. The food still wasn't done so I went for 2 1/2 minutes at 70% power and....presto...perfectly done fish and aspergas...delicious. Now, that was my first time and here is what I learned. I put too much water in the base so a lot of my microwave energy was used up heating the water into steam. Next time I will use 2 tablespoons of water as recommended in the instructions and I know that will cut down on my cooking time. Also I will set my microwave power at 70% for 4 minutes and that should do the trick. No fishy smell in the microwave...no fishy flavor in the aspergas. Each microwave is diferent so start out with lower power settings and time until you get a feel for what your microwave can do. If you start out on full power and too much time you could over-cook your food. I now look forward to many hassle-free no mess fish meals. I highly recommend this product...and Amazon.

One of the most impressive products that I have EVER , EVER...purchased!
This steamer, if it showed up on SHARK TANK, would have been JUMPED ON by all the Sharks! It is so simple, so easy to use, works so well...delivers on every promise. The guy who invented this is a multi-gazillionaire by now! You put a little water in the bottom tray...you put the little tray with hole on top of that. You place your vegetables on that tray. You put the lid on. And you pop the unit in your microwave. It takes a little experimenting to figure out the best cooking time for various vegetables. You figure all that out pretty fast. EXAMPLE: Of course something like Brussell Sprouts are more DENSE than SQUASH. So they need another minute or so. If you mix all of your various vegetables together, then you just figure out a compromise time. I can tell you right now... Single guys who watch their diets will LOVE THIS thing!! They will pile on the vegetables...3 minutes later...wham! Super hot, tender vegetables...ready to go. Put a little cheese on if you can handle the calories...or just add some other kind of condiment. This thing is a 6-star item! If you are looking for a 2 or 3 serving size STEAMER? THIS IS THEEEE ONE!Paul / Texas

Simple to use
I bought one of these steamers years ago and still use it all the time. I do asparagus, broccoli, green beans, sugar snap peas, zucchini and yellow squash in it. It works awesome. I recently bought this one because I now own a condo in a beach town and need one there. It’s a little precarious getting the lid off without burning yourself. Just use hot pads. But it’s spacious, doesn’t need much water and fast.

best veggie steamer and fish poacher
I love this product. The veggies steam-cook in microwave. You can have fresh or frozen vegetables cooked in minutes vs in pot of water where you wait for it to boil, cook, and nutrients leach into water. Plus so easy to clean up. The vegetables are evenly cooked and moist. I've done fish, also, but recommend using fresh vs frozen. I've had mine at least 10 years. No cracks, splits and all 3 pieces still fit properly as the day I got it. I just got one for my brother after cooking fresh asparagus in his microwave in dish with some water, and the asparagus came out shriveled and mostly dry. Next time I cook black bean burger in microwave oven (as directions instruct), I will use this steamer. (That burger was unevenly cooked and dry around edge following package instructions.). I tend to be a "lazy" cook. With this I open bag of veggies from freezer, pour onto steamer tray, put a little water in bottom tray, cover with dome, leave vent slots open on dome and cook 2-3 minutes. When finished, if dome does not have foggy or beaded sweat look, I cook longer. I don't have to take it out, open and check it.

Great time saver!
This is a real time saver! By the time you take out a steamer pot with insert and lid, and fill the pot and wait for it to boil, your food is already done with this steamer. I used to microwave cob corn in wet paper towels for 10 minutes. What a mess that made. This takes only 5 minutes. There is plenty of room for two large cobs, 2 large filets of salmon or two cups of vegetables. Our salmon cooked in half the time as compared to the toaster oven and was much more moist. The unit is about three inches tall, and the lid sits gently on the bottom piece. It does not snap on.. The reason for this is safety. If your steam vent is closed, it could explode from the pressure. Do remember that the suggested times are just a starting point. Every microwave is different. Our salmon took longer and our cabbage took less time than suggested. Take notes! The box said this was designed in the USA and made in China. PBA free. Dishwasher safe, but really, a quick hand wash is good for me. I'm very glad I got this, and I think you will be too!

Read my review, to find out how to use this steamer!
I love this Prep Solutions microwave fish & vegetables steamer!. it does an excellent job in steaming!!!Yes too bad there is no guideline booklet for cooking times in the package that they sent. You might want to read my review, to find out how to use this steamer! This steamer has 3 parts:- Base tray- Steaming tray- Lid with steam ventsHow to use this steamer ?- First.Add 100ml water (or hot water to cut the cooking time) into the base tray.- Second.-Place the Veggies or Fish on steaming tray- Third.Closed the lid and don’t forget to open the vent on the lid to release steam while cooking. After cooking partially close to keep hot air in.Cooking time (might be varied, depends on microwaves):Vegetables (average) 2-5 minutes. Broccoli, Asparagus, Brussels Sprouts, Carrots (whole) 5-8 minutes. Fillet fish (average) 4-7 minutesNOTE:- Test every 2 to 3 minutes with a fork to keep your vegetables or fish from over cooking.- Before you open the lid, you have to open the steam vents all the way so you don’t get steam explosionwhen you open the lid. Be careful of escaping steam when you open the lid.- Do not seal the lid after cooking, otherwise might overcook.I tried this steamer to steam tofu in banana leaves wrapper, as you can see from one the photos that i attached here. Please vote ‘YES’ to the question: “Was this review helpful to you ?” If my review help you .It means so much to me to knowing my review has help someone.Thank you very much!
