Loved the anime! I got the manga and loved it too!
This is my first manga book that I've read and was pleasantly surprised. However it did take a little getting use to. The book starts from the back and goes toward the front and reads right to left. I was expecting a comic book but it's actually the size of a small paperback book. The pages are beautifully depicted but are in black and white. The stories give you a different perspective in the book. Some things in the show aren't in the book and some things in the book aren't in the show. There are 5 I guess you call them chapters which is the equivalent of 5 episodes of the show. I really enjoyed the extra details added in the manga like the night class perspective and the editors notes on the characters and story. If you like the anime/cartoon I would recommend giving the manga a try. Being able to see the differences between the show and the book is what I liked most about the book.

goth comic
love triangleschool for vampirescentral character Yuki is high school girl who knows the secret of the night class and as the headmaster's adopted daughter has the responsibility to protect the human students (using martial arts). She ends up liking a vamp. Another student hates vamps as his family was killed previously.Tensions between the races.Vamps are seen as the aristocrats and everyone else peasants. Chess game in the two societies for supremacy/ maybe even existence.supposed to be sexy and violent, of course, it's still pg-13. there are some suicidal feelings that may up the rating to an R .i see the boys as earth and air elements, girl as fire... trying to do some personality typing here. One grounds her (security), other encourages.

Interesting twist.
I've learned not to expect much from vampire-themed manga. There's enough of a difference between the Japanese perception of vampires and the European perception to cause some stumbles. "Vampire Knight" was a pleasant surprise. These vampires still maintain their 'difference" but were closer to my perception of vampires. The characters are all interesting--though I really have to wonder at the decision to use Zero's English name. The mangaka chose name for her characters very carefully, and the Japanese form for this character's name would've served better, I think. It's a little off-putting to believe a truly menacing air from someone named 'Zero'.The storyline is fresh and different from most other vampires-at-school mangas. Yuki is a brave, strong heroine who believes in the rules and is a little naive. The vampires, as others have mentioned, are all gorgeous, with the typical high school fangirl following. There are hints of different types of vampires and different abilities, and a long, painful history between humans and vampires. The only reason this gets four stars instead of five is because of the great difficulty in telling two of the supporting male vampire characters apart. The only way to really tell them apart is that one of them wears earrings--but isn't always drawn with them. Since the two characters have very different motivations towards humans, it can get confusing to keep track of who is saying what and why. As attractive as they are, these vampires never lose their air of menace. This looks to be the start of a very good series.

Even the TV series is awesome...just wish they would have finished. The manga came in excellent condition. Very satisfied with purchase.
