Buy it!
Bought for my fiancé for Valentine’s Day. Works perfect and is a good size. It’s self explanatory on how to use but comes with instructions. The price is good and it spins perfectly and for a long time. It’s not loud like some others I have seen.

Great for all ages
My Dad is in his 70's and a still active Engineer. He got one of these a couple of months ago and started playing with it while explaining all the physics behind it and the principles applications... he has us all agape. He got into taking the gyroscope with him to work, and he's been "teaching" young engineers with it. Now I'm getting him a precision gyroscope. This is one of those perfect toys that can teach so much in such a simple way, but if you really want to get all the awesomeness, you need to go and check your basic physics first!

Well designed and constructed, but a little bit fragile
This is a quality made product. It worked ok. The first two spins went well. On the third spin it got away from me as I was placing it on its stand, it raced across the table and fell to the floor, my fault not Tedco's. The fall to the floor must have bent some part of the metal a little, because now it is too wobbly to stay upright while spinning. I had hoped to use this gyroscope to test how its axis of rotation changes when a magnet is brought near to it. Those plans are now on hold.

Works as expected.
Although the gyroscope isn't perfectly balanced (vibrates on its axis quite a bit), it's still able to perform all the stunts as seen in the videos. This includes the gravity-defying "hovering" trick where it levitates sideways. Granted, it takes a little practice to get it working right - it works best if you stand it straight up first and "nudge" it sideways. I have found this technique will always work. Getting it to balance on the other hand was tricky, and I was unable to balance it on my finger or any other odd, non-flat surface besides the included stand.

Good if you are into fixing things that are broken before their first use.
This thing is complete trash. I have seen these work properly and I thought I would get one just to play around with. However, when I received this it had an unwelded gap in the outer frame. After reading in the manual I learned that this was intentional to allow for "balancing". I say that that is a complete lie. The vibrating everyone complains about is caused by this gap. A properly constructed gyroscope should be nearly silent. Also, the vibration is so intense it just falls over. The string I have is nearly broken after 3 wind up and pulls. Yes the gyro spins. No it doesn't do any tricks because it isn't constructed properly (believe me, mind would even stand on the table). It is also very fragile. Drop it once, and the middle piece will probably fall out. Unfortunately, most of the non expensive gyros are this way. I don't recommend you buy this, even for $6.00 (what I spent). The picture only looks similar to the actual gyroscope, the picture has no un welded piece and the middle is properly constructed. If you just want a gyroscope to play around with THIS IS NOT THE GYROSCOPE FOR YOU. If you however are an experienced repair man, I recommend this product as it requires many repairs.

Cheaply made but expensive
This wa fun for a day until my son dropped it. It broke easily on our wooden floor. Too expensive to replace so soon.

It may look like the old school gyroscopes of Gen X childhoods
Broke after just three weeks. It may look like the old school gyroscopes of Gen X childhoods, but it's certainly not as sturdy.

Good toy
Though expensive for a steel ring, its worth it. Kids would enjoy the gyro...
