Pocket Chemist: Organic Chemistry Stencil Template Small 3 Inch Metal Ruler

I use this tool daily for my organic chemistry classes, since I was spending too much time drawing structures while note-taking. The additional reference equations are a bonus and I use the integrated periodic table most frequently. It's on the smaller end, making it perfect for taking notes and doing homework. The ruler and general straight-edge is helpful in other classes as well. I take it with me and keep it in my pencil case.

I got this as a gift for a scientist in my life and they absolutely loved it! The information on it is accurate and the stensils are super useful - especially for organich chemistry students.

This stencil has made my orgo notes so pretty! Makes drawing rings and chains much easier and clean. I typically use a 0.7 mm pencil or a 0.3 mm pen. So far so good. My 0.7 mm pens do not fit in the holes but that is okay with me. Has the ruler on it which comes in handy during lab for NMR coupling constants and TLC rf values. All around this product is a great investment for chem majors!

I bought this for my ochem class in spring and it makes answer questions such a breeze! We had timed exams and using this little guy for drawing structure made me save so much paper space for answer questions and I’m sure my my professors life easier for grading. It also has a handy periodic table on it and has the names of the structures so it’s incredibly handy! It’s also a sturdy piece of metal and small enough to store on your wallet! Helped me get a B in ochem, I love it, very much worth its price!

Update: I got things sorted out with Amazon. There was an error with their system that they resolved. Derek was kind enough to manually refund if necessary but thankfully that isn't needed. I changed my review from 3 to 4 stars. It would be 4.5 but that isn't possible. The size for me was the biggest issue. I like that the stencil is small and can be travel friendly but it's just to small for me. Original Review: I got this awhile ago and was hoping this would work really well, unfortunately the stencil wasn't big enough for my taste so it wasn't as useable. The stencil is thin metal and has a small plastic holder. I do think that this worked rather nice, the lines were straight and there wasn't much I had to do to fix anything (if there was anything to fix). I ended up returning it because it just wasn't working the way I had hoped and I ended up getting use to drawing the shapes myself. It would be four stars but unfortunately when I returned it Amazon (Whole Foods Return Center) lost the item and I may be charged for something I no longer have. This is a really small item (2in by 3in i think) and is flat so it does make sense that it could get lost, but I returned it with another item and I watched as they were packaged together. I spoke with Derek, the seller and though our conversation didn't help the way I had hoped, he answered very quickly and did direct me somewhere else - hope that goes well.

Must-have for Orgo students!

I love this stencil. I love that it’s metal because it’s aesthetically pleasing and I don’t worry about breaking it. It’s small enough to fit in my pencil case and I love the periodic table on the back. I want to buy the exam edition now because it includes cycloheptane and cyclooctane cutouts! If you’re taking ochem, buy this!

Bought for my 17 year old nephew for Christmas. He’s super into biochemistry and LOVED IT. Definitely a great gift for the brainiacs in your life! Super well made and worth the price tag.

The stencil is too small for any normal branded pen to even trace. The shapes are not "perfect" with the hexane and chair config not straight. Waste of Money, could draw these configs better with a ruler.
