There are many factors at play here like age, gender, nutrition, environment, toxin exposure, hormonal health, gut health, etc. Functional mushrooms do display unique health effects on glucose metabolism and insulin sensitivity, which could possibly lead to positively impacting one's weight and overall health. They have lots of fiber and key nutrients like selenium and zinc that support insulin function. Functional mushrooms are also adaptogens, meaning they can help the body develop resiliency to stress and may be supportive in times of change like when starting a new exercise or nutrition plan. The two most common mushrooms used for metabolic support are reishi and maitake, however, they all have metabolic-supportive properties.

A study on maitake showed the innate beta-d-glucans and fiber can have an impact on blood sugar regulation but to what extent still needs further research. Maitake has been studied in many animal studies and a few human trials for this purpose. The human studies that stand out the most are as follows, the first used an SX-Fraction (a water-soluble glycoprotein maitake fraction similar to MD-Fraction) in 5 patients; one showed complete blood sugar regulation and the other four showed a 30% reduction in serum glucose measurements in 4 weeks.

This is an isolated research study (different from our extracts but still a great study).
