Well-designed and sturdy furniture, adjustable shelves a plus
I did much searching for a sewing machine cabinet, and ended up getting this armoire. I wanted a cabinet that would hold a large sewing machine, and yet not take up lots of wall space, since I wanted to place the furniture to fit between two windows. This is the only cabinet I found that met those requirements, even after looking at various different brands of sewing machine cabinets that cost much more. (The other designs/brands I looked at took up lots of wall space). This armoire arrived in good condition with all the parts. It took a few hours to put together, (someone handy with tools did this for me), but the instructions were good and it is beautiful. I agree with the other reviewers that it would be nice if this furniture were offered in a pure white color, since I am not particularly fond of the "distressed" finish. However, the cream color looks better than I expected. The cream color is neutral, so it coordinates with other furniture and wall colors. The upper adjustable shelves hold lightweight items, they are ideal for holding machine embroidery hoops or other notions. The surge supressor/power strip included with the unit has 3 electrical outlets for plugging in a sewing machine/lamp/other item. The fold-out table slides out easily and is sturdy. The lower storage shelf is a slide-out also, and there are pre-drilled holes at various levels in the sides of the armoire for screwing this shelf in---you can choose whether you want more height or less height above this shelf. The lower this shelf is placed, the more narrow the bottom, fixed shelf below it will be. Placed at a lower level, the sliding shelf allows room to store an average-size sewing machine and/or case. I would suggest you measure whatever it is that you want to store on the bottom 2 shelves (slide-out and fixed), to select which set of pre-drilled holes to use for screwing in the sliding shelf. Check the weight of your machine also, the weight capacity of the shelves of this unit are online. Be aware that some of the Bernina machines are extra tall and extra heavy, and require a cabinet with extra height & weight capacity. Whatever you are planning to store, check its height/weight before buying this armoire to determine whether it would fit properly here. My Viking sewing machine fits fine in this armoire. I would suggest measuring your machine with the embroidery unit attached (if applicable) to be sure there is room on the fold-out tabletop for it. Although my machine w/embroidery unit attached fits fine along the long side of the tabletop/slide-out, I found that, as far as storage of the embroidery unit, my embroidery unit is too wide to be stored on the shelves of this armoire, so it needs to be stored in its case in a closet. Since embroidery units vary in length/width, your embroidery unit is likely to be different. Overall, I am extremely happy with the appearance and functionality of this armoire, it does an excellent job of storage as well as being a great sewing machine cabinet. The folding table slides neatly & easily and makes my craft space much more organized. I like this armoire so much that I decided to get the coordinating Harbor View storage cabinet to hold my fabric/dress form/miscellaneous craft supplies. It is nice to have the furniture coordinate, and to be able to close the doors on both the armoire and the storage cabinet to convert the room to a guest bedroom.

Love this craft armoire!
Bought this to organize my sewing stuff. It is much roomier than I anticipated - holds both my regular sewing machine and my serger along with a bunch of supplies. Love it! It arrived in 2 heavy boxes - one was 80 lbs, the other 120 lbs. I am a 63 year old woman and a bit out of shape....(don't judge!). I managed to unpack the 80 lb box myself and cart the boards upstairs one or two at a time. Needed my husband to help with the 120 lb box. Both boxes were packaged well and had no damage at all. I was able to put the armoire together mostly by myself using a small battery operated screwdriver. I needed help with turning it over, squaring it, attaching the table, and lifting it upright. It does take at least 6 hours to put together. Take your time and follow the directions and you will be fine. There are videos available for each step also. For the price, it is a very nice piece of furniture. Very sturdy. The back is thin cardboard like all Sauder products, but that makes it easier to assemble the armoire. One change in the assembly I recommend is to install the lower pull-out shelf before installing the table leg and table. The directions tell you to to assemble it afterwards and then you need to crawl under the table to put in the shelf. Overall, I am super happy with the purchase!! So happy to have all my sewing and craft items in one place, organized, and out of sight when I am not crafting!

Awesome cabinet! Highly Recommended!! and a couple of tips for building it
This cabinet was everything I hoped for. Putting Together - This was actually fairly simple and the instructions are very clear. I will note that when you receive the screws they are all mixed together and I spent a couple minutes separating everything. It actually helped out a ton. I definitely recommend doing so as well. Some of the pieces are heavy and are much easier to piece together with an extra set of hands to hold things. Also, who ever will be using the cabinet might want to be there when the bottom drawer is aligned. I wish my husband would have made it lower because I knew what I was going to store there and now it doesn't quite fit where I wanted it too. Use - This cabinet is so useful. I can fit all of my paint, scrap book and sewing materials in it perfectly. The top shelves are adjustable so you can set them any way you'd like. The table top that folds out works pretty well. I currently have mine on carpet and when I pull the table top out it's a little effort (only because I'm on carpet, a computer chair mat will solve this problem easily). The only down fall to putting the table out is that I have to sit on the floor to lift up the table and hold it above my head while I pull the support wheels out. I don't think there is much room to improve this design flaw due to it being a murphy style table and if it were corrected it might lose storage space. The doors are fairly secure when closed and open all the way up to push it against the side of the cabinet. Overall I am super pleased with this item. I hate to spend $300 on a cabinet but it was well worth it and I would do it again.

You got to love it.
11-06-12 This review was written when the name of this item was 'Antique White', not 'Antique Creme', obviously they changed the name since this was written. But it's still the same color. This is a very nice unit, despite the fact that the color is more cream or blonde (has more tan tones than white tones)from what we consider to be antique white and if you look at the picture you will notice that the slide out shelf when closed requires opening it all the way up in order to get to any items on the bottom shelves and when open you have to bend down almost on hands and knees to access the bottom shelves. However, one of the bottom shelves has a slider which brings it forward a lot. Also almost none of it is solid wood. You have got to love the fact that all the holes were pre-drilled correctly, all the parts were present, including some extras and they all fit together nicely without any problems. The instructions were clear enough if you did not attempt to think you knew better than they do and try to skip some of them (like me) causing longer assembly time. Parts that arrived cracked (I am sure while in shipping) were quickly replaced by CS (customer service) with just an e-mail through Amazon( CS rates 5 stars) without any problem at all (there were 2 of them). This unit is heavy. It comes in two boxes with one weighing 80 lbs and the other 120 lbs. It is composed mostly of particleboard with a very nice finish. Do not attempt to push the unit to a different location once assembled as it may crack or seperate where the levelers on the bottom are located or elsewhere. You can lift one end at a time and kind of walk it if you must, but don't push up on the top molding as screws in particleboard do not hold anywhere near as tight as in solid wood. Also do not attempt to tighten down the screws too much for the same reason as they may lose their grip altogether, just firm, not tight, will be fine. I can not give you an accurate estimate of the time it took me to assemble it as we had to wait over a week or two for the replacement parts because we did not notice the second part was cracked until we were almost done and I made some mistakes. So figure a week for each part. As a rough guess, I would say about 5 hours to assemble. The user of this unit likes it a lot and it looks very nice, holds a lot of things, but pay close attention to the height of the shelf where your sewing maching will go as it is not adjustable. The height is 12 7/8" according to their diagram but I measure it at 13 1/8" high. The electrical outlet does not have a way to turn it off, so it is always on. However it does have a red light to indicate it is on. The electrical cord itself is pretty thick (which is good) but I could not get the cord holder the unit comes with in the back to hold it. You push the cord into it and it expands enough that it is susposed to hold it. The sewing machine shelf is rated at 30 lbs weight load. The next shelf up is 25 lbs and the smaller adjustable shelves further up are 3 lbs each. The very top of the unit is rated at 15 lbs (keep that in mind if you want to put a tv or something up there). The sliding shelf that extends out from the unit (work/hobby shelf) is rated at a 25 lb load. The very bottom shelf (1st one above the floor) is rated at 20 lbs.

This Crafting Cabinet is just what I wanted
I’ve been searching for one of these transforming craft armoires for a while, pricing was always so crazy. This model is not as elaborate as the more costly ones, but just perfect for my sewing station. I love the color. I completely fell in love with the doors. The piece is a very nice cream with some markings that add a nice warn look to the piece. Matches my bedroom furniture nicely. Building: don’t be intimidated by the bag of screws and parts, each part of the bag has markings to let you know which screws/parts are for what. Very detailed explanation on the bag, I think you need to have some knowledge on putting things together, but if you never have, directions are great, it is not hard just follow the book. Building this unit took me alone 5 hours. I do enjoy putting things together. I did need help when lifting it right side up and hanging the doors. That went quick. I did have to unscrew a couple of things, but nothing major. The directions are very clear. Diagrams are very understandable. My mishaps were due to rushing. Pre drilled Holes: everything lined up perfectly. I built this on my wood floor. Directions call for building on carpet or wood I did start on my rug, but I felt the rug/carpet did not allow for accurate placement when matching up holes. Once I moved to the hard laminate floor it really was flawless. Shipping: couldn’t have gone better. I did receive a call from the shipping company to confirm day. The day of delivery I received another call letting me know they were 20 minutes away. They delivered 2 boxes into my entry way. Perfect. The boxes were not huge. 2-flat boxes. Guessing approximately about: 6”thick and 6’ long. Heavy boxes. Packaging: the packaging was really good. The outside of the boxes has a very thick cardboard around all the edging of the boxes. It seriously felt like a wood, to protect the items and boxes. Price: this craft armoire was a bit pricy, but after reading soo many reviews about its functionality I just got it. It’s definitely worth the price. The pieces are solid and the unit is really beautiful. This item is perfect for any crafter. Lots of storage: the bottom of the unit can be tricky to easily get to. I’m an older woman and you do need to get down low to access the bottom shelf. It’s doable and the shelf slides out wonderfully, I’ll just keep things I don’t need often. I thought the unit itself was on wheels, I would have liked that feature, but it’s on my laminate floor so it does slide easy, has plastic sliders. May be harder to slide on a carpet, if you do keep it on a carpet, allow spacing for the doors to open all the way to the sides of the unit. My spot is tight so I do have to slide it each time, so a carpet would not work for my needs. Plan to have space for this piece. It’s very heavy and solid. I love it. Can’t wait to load it up and work. Hope this helped you decide. I highly recommend this unit.

Arrived damaged, missing parts, and poorly engineered
The armoire arrives in 2 very heavy boxes. When separating out all the pieces, I noted the ragged/ripped edges of the holes meant for the Twist-Lock fasteners. I also noticed damaged edges to smaller parts that should have been well protected in the box. Then to top it off, I realized I was missing the backing for the piece. We starting putting it together and when turning it over, the entire piece collapsed. The Twist Locks ripped out and broke in half leaving huge irreparable holes. Sauder has evidently switched from using cam locks and dowels to Twist-Lock fasteners which are very poorly designed. The pieces are far too heavy to be supported by the Twist-Locks. I now have a very expensive pile of junk in my craft room that I can't re-box and return.

AWESOME!!!!
I love this cabinet. It was easy to assemble. I lined the inside with contact paper. I added a magnet bar at the bottom of the shelves. I also made the pull out table top and the insides of the doors chalkboard. Which I believe that Saunders should offer due to this being a craft cabinet. When assembling I used liquid nail to help make it even more sturdy. This is a piece of furniture I use on a daily basis. The instruction book that comes with this is ok but not great. I want to point out a major issue in it that might help everyone. In the book it tells you to put on the adjustable feet and then nothing more is mentioned about them again. It then goes on to say to stand the unit up. Well this is for ALL of the people who complain about not being able to get the doors to match up. And if they are not matched up your unit is not square or level. This is where your adjustable feet come in. Get the unit where you want it to stay. If the doors are not matching up then adjust the feet by turning them. Keep turning all of them until the doors match up. I have recommended this unit to everyone I know. It is affordable, spacious and versatile and worth the cost of prime.

Need a case of wine for the time-consuming assembly! Another case for the review.
If I didn’t need this so badly, I wouldn’t have purchased. We are IKEA assembly veterans, but this thing is brutal! The good: Specialty piece, but don’t expect decent furniture quality. Not alot of selection for specialty furniture, if you can’t spring for the Kangaroo Cabinet line. If you are confident to assemble every single step correctly, use wood glue. We weren’t that confident when we read through the instructions. Customer support people try really hard to get you through difficult steps. Customer support will order replacement parts for defective pieces, no extra cost. I had to order replacements for defective parts, twice. So twice, was delayed nearly a week waiting for parts, in order to continue assembly. Big pieces all over small house for weeks, not fun. Looks decent once assembled, if you have old eyes and can’t see the cheesy fake antiqued grain contact paper finish. The negatives: First shipment arrived smashed, package contents falling out. Delivery service used, XPO Logistics, tried to get me to sign before unloading the shipment. Refused until I could inspect the boxes. When they dragged them out from behind some other smashed boxes, I got suspicious. They tried to claim Amazon shipped in that condition...unbelievable. What carrier would knowingly accept damaged goods at the shipping dock?! Thankfully I had not signed. Rejected shipment, with Amazon on phone while I declined, and Amazon placed new order. So got to wait once again. And shipped with the same carrier. SMH. Second shipment arrived intact, thankfully. Instructions are difficult to follow on some steps. Some pieces not labeled. No hardware is labeled, but it is sorted. Millions of pieces of hardware, no extras, so don’t make any mistakes assembling. Pressed wood construction with something akin to the old style contact paper covering, as a finish. Not the laminated plastic finish glued on, like IKEA furniture. Pressed wood unforgiving, if you use a wrong screw, and need to remove and insert the correct one. May crumble. Would have used wood glue, but so afraid of making a mistake assembling. Made one small assembly error, had to flip two pieces to correct. Phone call to manufacturer for dinged side, packed that way, that needed touched up. Was advised they have wood touch-up markers for all their furniture except this one, so was advised to get one of my kids’ crayons and use that to touch it up. My fifty year old kids. So, suggested to me to get one of my grandkids’ crayons...my grands are all away at college....couldn’t believe what I was hearing...so I am supposed to take a piece to hardware store and purchase wood filler for their defective piece...that was shipped defective, flat packed...not good. Asked if this really how they wanted me to review their product... Hardware is very cheap quality, particularly their locking fasteners. The instructions for disassembling the sliders are a joke. Spent way too much time with the manufacturer, on phone, being given instructions like, push the thingy, hold that thingamabob...ridiculous. We are not stupid here, but support was so-so, in non-technical vocabulary. All said, it took 3 half days for two college-degreed people to assemble. For the person who said the pull-out table is problematic on carpet. We raised the leveling feet about 3/8”, as my cabinet sits on hardwood floor, but I have an area rug in the room, which is staying. So the pull out table rolls up over, onto the rug. Since there is no weight on the table in the closed up position, not too concerned about damage there. Wanted to not be forcing the wheeled table support up onto the carpet when pulling it out. It rolls out perfectly now. If levelers aren’t perfectly adjusted, doors won’t line up. In summary, the unit is way overpriced for the quality, and for the amount of assembly the purchaser is expected to perform. Instructions poor for some steps. Poor quality construction. If you think you are going to move and take with you, from house to house, probably better glue everything, or plan to disassemble to move.
