A Beautiful Beginner Violin
This is a very nice little outfit. It is great for a beginning student! We purchased a 1/4 size. My daughter is finishing her first year of Suzuki (over halfway through Book 1). Her first violin has been a 1/8 Helmke--which was inexpensive, but high enough quality for lessons after we replaced the bow and strings (both were horrible though the Helmke violin itself has been nice). I decided to buy this now so I didn't have to worry about finding a new instrument over the summer, and she'd have time to transition into the new size over the fall. I've had a few violins myself including a Palatino and a couple Romanian instruments. This is the first Kennedy we are trying out. So far we are pretty pleased with the quality for the price—definitely not a VSO. My daughter's teacher gave it her stamp of approval. It was very well packaged in double boxes with lots of padding. It came with a check list of things that were looked over before it came to us and information about Kennedy Violins. The bow was much nicer than what I was expecting. The hair and grip stay put. My daughter's teacher said it has a nice balance. I will still a second bow as I always like us to have two on hand. The strings are Preludes which sound nice (though they require a little more regular tuning than the Helicores we've started using). They are perfect to use over the summer and would be fine for lessons, too. It came with backup strings, too, and rosin. After I first tuned it, the violin sounded a little nasal. I believe this is because it had been packed with anti-moisture packets so the wood was probably drier than normal. After we let it sit out for a couple days, it sounded much deeper. I has better sound than the Helmke--definitely louder and clearer. The pegs are surprisingly easy to turn compared to a number of other violins I've tuned. This concerned me as I worried they'd slip, but they seem to stay put very well. The case has lots of storage space, and has many options for carrying it (handle, shoulder strap, or backpack). A nice little surprise was discovering a shoulder rest was included. The violin's finish appears a little darker than the picture and this gives it an even more unique appearance. My daughter (with the help of her wonderfully imaginative teacher) has decided to name it "Chocolate" for this reason. I think "Chocolate" is going to be a lovely instrument for my daughter to graduate Book 1 with next fall. :)

Amazing value. Top Notch setup.
This is my first violin, and as such I did a lot of research on what I should get. I watched the Ray Chen video on how he bought all the Amazon violins and reviewed them, and this violin was the first one he said didn't sound like trash, and at the end he said this was probably the best value, as the instrument sounds good and the next one up was like $600 or something. This says it's a "clearance" violin which means it has cosmetic defects but I have to say, I am hard pressed to find anything wrong with it at all. You have to look REALLY hard. I looked it up and down and couldn't find anything. Then I finally found it, a TINY spot where the varnish is a bit off on the bottom and an almost microscopic dot near the edge of the violin in one area. Absolutely amazing. No one will ever know there's anything off about its cosmetics. The violin was perfected tuned when I received it, and played beautifully. Thankfully I was able to get a good sound out of it on my first try. It sounds beautiful. If you're thinking of a first violin I would definitely get this one as you can't beat the price and it's great. When it comes to the bow I think it's a good bow. I don't know anything about violin playing or bows, but I can tell you that it makes a beautiful sound, which I would say means the bow is good. A bad bow will not make a beautiful sound. Also a tip-- I don't think mine was rosined. When you look at the bow, if it's off-white (kind of yellowish color) this means that it's not rosined. When you rosin the bow the horse hair should look white. So if you're doesn't look white.. I dunno the checklist said that they rosined the bow, maybe their rosin was yellow LOL but just a quick tip, as if the bow doesn't have rosin on it, it won't sound good or at all.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent sound and amazing value. Worth the wait
We bought the Bunnel Pupil Violin Outfit 4/4 (RB300) by Kennedy Violins for my wife, and we are extremely happy with it. As soon as she opened the case, I asked her to play Happy Birthday right away. The sound was splendid, crystal clear, and very warm. It is honestly a night and day difference compared to her previous violin that had a problem with the D string. What really surprised me is how different it feels to listen to this violin in person. The sound is so clear and alive, it does not feel like listening to music from a speaker or a recording at all. Live sound is completely on another level. The build quality is excellent, the setup feels right out of the box, and all the included accessories and case make this a great complete package. For the price, the value is outstanding and the quality is much better than we expected. The shipping was delayed, but it was absolutely worth the wait. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a full-size student or advancing beginner violin with beautiful tone and solid workmanship.

Size: 4/4 : Great but needs replacements
This would be my first purchase of a violin. It came pretty well wrapped. The case is solid and holds 2 bows a violin and accessories. It did come with a shoulder rest(Some people said they didn't get one. I guess they changed it so now they send one). Complaints(Preventing me from giving 5 stars): The rosin block caused my bow that I got with the violin to break some hairs (I was not doing it that hard. The plastic box around the rosin can easily catch the hairs of your bow so BE CAREFUL!). The violin has some damage on it I don't know if this is normal but i'm willing to overlook it because I do not have time or patience to send it back over something that might be normal. It looks like the finish wasn't properly applied (It doesn't matter to me much but I will post a picture of the damage). The Pegs will slip if you don't push them into the head. (This is normal but I would think the pegs would be a little longer then they are as to stick out of the other side of the head so that it is a more snug fit.). As this is a pupil version from them and not a fancy ricard. I would think they would put some fret stickers in there. (I had to purchase them, How expensive is it to include a sticker??). Shoulder rest is kind of a piece of junk. (Maybe it was just mine but the clamps that you attach to the violin would not screw into the pad and I don't have a very long neck so it became impossible to use it. I had to purchase a new one (Which I did anyway because some people were saying it doesn't come with one)) Praises: The violin is actually more beautiful then the picture shows. (It's darker in real life.) The violin has a pretty nice sound. (I know it's only 200$ but this thing makes quite a loud and clear sound) The case is sturdy ( Its got a soft shell outside but it's pretty hard overall. It can take a beating.) Suggestions: Replace the rosin (You need a better rosin or else it will strip your bow hair.) Replace the bow (The bow that comes with is okay but it's a bit heavy, I bought a carbon fiber bow just so I could have to not hassle with breaking and it would be lighter.) Replace the shoulder rest (If you don't want to spend money on one of these you can always just use a soft cloth to put on your shoulder and rest the violin on it.) Buy a set of strings! (Yes it comes with 2 prelude sets 1 on the violin and 1 in a baggie. But if you are brand new to tuning anything you will most likely pop your E string because the violin does not come tuned at least mine didn't I didn't break any strings though but i'm use to tuning I play the guitar as well.) Overall for the price it is a good buy but you will end up spending around 50$ more for the replacements. Keep your old stuff however and use it until it breaks that way you can get some experience under you and get fancy with your shiny new bow and other things. The reason I didn't give it 3 stars is because well that would be harsh it does what it says it does. The problems I have are trivial and can be fixed or avoided. I'm new to the violin so who am I to be overly critical. Added 2 pictures. 1 showing the damage (on the side of the violin) and 1 showing the color of the violin (The front of the violin facing picture)

It is WONDERFUL in every way!
So in LOVE ❤️🥰. All ready to play right out of the cases. The case is amazing as well. There were numerous tags with phone numbers if I had a problem. The bow was rosined and ready to go. An official authentic inspection check list was included. It beautiful and sounds fantastic! I am a beginner! Although I’ve played piano, accordion, pipe organ, ukulele, and guitar, this is the first violin except for a very cheap one the was a complete waste of money. It gave me a complete contrast and made me really appreciate this instrument. But it!! It does not disappoint!

Good Purchase... package warning.
FIRST off packaging, including a WARNING: The violin was extremely well packed for safety during the shipping process. Received completely undamaged and if great condition. I bought this in November as a Christmas gift for my daughter. Amazon shipped it in it's original box which has GIANT letters that spell VIOLIN along the side of it. My daughter retrieved the mail therefore ruining the surprise of her Christmas gift. I'll admit I cried for hours because it is the only gift I have for her and was excited for her to open it Christmas morning. So PLEASE be warned, IF this is a GIFT, make alternative shipping arrangements (perhaps to a relative's house) in order to keep the surprise. VIOLIN: I did not know what to expect and was nervous buying this violin. I am not knowledgeable about violins. This is the first violin in have bought for my daughter. She was previously using a Mendini that the school provided for her. That violin proved difficult for her to learn on since (as noted in many reviews) it has to be tuned every 10 minutes. Her teacher spent a lot of time tuning before he could teach. This violin DOES NOT come with a shoulder rest. IF there are any cosmetic flaws, I cannot find them. There ISN'T any varnish under the neck of the violin. If you're a newbie like me this may surprise you; however it's pretty standard not to have varnish there. The case is beautiful. Really high quality especially considering that it's a student violin where many would short change the quality of the case. I gave the violin to my daughter's teacher to give it a look over and to make certain that it was a good violin. The only thing that he found was that the bridge was too high which I guess affects the quality of the sound and/or playing ability (not exactly sure). He swapped the bridge out with a new one. He was also kind enough to add the stickers and ordered her a shoulder rest. In his estimation this is a good violin and perfect for her. He believes it should last her until she's ready to move up to the next level (as her skills improve). OVERALL IMPRESSION: A+, I would RECOMMEND this Violin for your student's need. Don't be nervous like I was and afraid you might be making a bad choice if you're a newbie. I DID NOT receive any kind of promotional discount or free product for this review. I paid full price just like those of you reading this. If you found this helpful please click the link saying so. Thanks. 🙂

his violin is absolutely fantastic for its price! The craftsmanship is neat, with smooth wood finish and well-fitted parts. The sound is clear and warm, not harsh at all when played, making it perfect for daily practice and beginners. Strings and bridge are properly set up, so it’s ready to play right out of the box.
