We do not add any surfactants or optical brighteners. If you look at the OxiClean, you will notice blue dots throughout. Those are optical brighteners, a chemical additive that is used to trick your eyes into thinking that your whites are whiter and brighter when in actuality, they are not. Our Oxygen Whitener can be used for colors too - we just suggest you test an area for color fastness because some fabrics/dyes do not adhere well and you could get fading. It does not fade most all colors though! **Q: How strong is the scent of the lemon? I'd like to use this on my salon towels, but do not want them to smell like anything after drying.** A: The lemon scent dissipates most of the way in the washer. I could not tell much if any scent in the dried clothes. I had a mix of towels, 100 % cotton light clothing and socks and other personal items. The towels smelled just like my towels washed in unscented.
