My advice would be to find out if there are any homebrew (beer/wine) supply stores near you, as they'll have high-temperature food grade silicone tubing available.

Once the water in the bottom pan is boiling this will distill up to one quart of water per hour. The best setting for an induction cooktop is 1200 Watts or medium to medium high heat. The water in the bottom pan only needs to be heated enough to maintain a slow rolling boil.

what diameter is the silicon tube? I'd like to replace it with a metal one for campfire use.

The barbed metal pipe that comes out of the catch pot is 0.340", the silicone tube fits over it. I'd suggest a heat resistant cap, rather than a metal pipe. In order to gather all the condensate the catch pot has to be tilted.
