Definitely buy this book! If you love Bleach you won’t be sorry
I thoroughly enjoyed this! Bleach has always and will always hold a very special place in my heart and I’m always excited for something new to be brought from this amazing albeit flawed franchise. So, some things to note, the sketches done by Mr. Kubo throughout the novel are wonderful, I really enjoyed them and thought they helped bridge a bit of the gap from visual manga to written novel. I also really enjoy following a different character other than Ichigo who has in my opinion become very tired and boring to read. I just wanted something different and I got it!I also thoroughly enjoyed the deeper background and look into the political scene of the Soul Society. While I love action I think well done drama can be even better. This felt like it aged up with me as opposed to just staying the same. The story felt older which I again thoroughly enjoyed. Personally I’ve always been a fan of the types of series that evolve with the original consumers of the medium. Now some things I wasn’t too excited about, I feel like some characterizations fell a little flat. Now that’s not to say the writing was poor or that I didn’t get any of that it’s just not what we’re used to which is to be expected with a change of medium. One of the only other things that really got to me was that at times character reactions or decisions seem like they don’t match up with what a person in these circumstances would normally do.Other than these few gripes I greatly enjoyed the story! In closing I think Ryohgo Narita, and Tite Kubo did an excellent job! I’m hopeful that the combination of the success and popularity of the returning anime and the success of popularity this novel might cause it to become animated one day.

Bleach Hype Train
I finished the book this afternoon. There's some parts of it I find utterly delightful. It captures the oftentimes light, comedic elements of the manga very well while also still maintaining an air of tension. It's nice too if you've been playing Bleach Brave Souls (the mobile game) as it offers a great deal of insight into some of the freshly released characters (such as Seinosuke Yamada.) It was a quick, easy read. It obviously takes very heavily from the ending of the manga so I highly recommend at least skimming the plot to get a general idea of who some of the Quincy characters are. They are mentioned as well as featured. Also clarifies some of the weird cliff-hanger elements of the manga. (Like. What happened to the Arrancar. Where did they go?? Is Grimmjow okay? Oh. Okay good). Also, it's just great that Hisagi gets some attention and gets to be the hero! Some of the writing is a little strange in a way I can't explain. Clumsy? I'm not sure if it's just Ryohgo Narita's writing style or if it's more due to how translations work. I still found it fun to read and I think most, if not all, the dialogue really capture's the characters personalities. This book also features several illustrations!!I really liked this first part and recommend it! As long as you're not the type to take the content too seriously. (I do not take Bleach seriously. I think it's a hot mess but it's my hot mess.)

A must-read for any hardcore fan
I pre-ordered the English copy and it arrived pretty quick. I got mine on July 7th, when it wasn't supposed to be delivered till the 13th.I ordered it with other items, so I didn't experience the poor handling from the carriers like I've experienced with other paperback book purchases from Amazon.I have been following Bleach since about 2006 or so, since I was a young teenager. I have been obsessed with the show ever since.I read this book in just a handful of hours, around 4-5. I only believe I saw two typos in the text and one instance of something that just didn't translate right into English. That's not a problem for me, though.I've really enjoyed how the new author handles describing the characters diagloe and their emotions. The story plot does jump forward and backwards, as would any book trying to tell a story about events happening all the same time at different places.I highly recommend this book, either in Japanese or English. I haven't quite mastered reading Japanese yet, otherwise I would have ordered an original copy as well.I believe any fan will highly enjoy this. I can't wait for the next volume to be translated around November of this year.
