Case study - 6 years of love
Just placed my 2019 order. Seeing lots of negative reviews I hadn't seen before. Wondering why, I sent in a question to the seller asking whether the formula has changed. Seller responded: while the packaging has changed, the formula has not. I sincerely hope that is the case as we LOVE this product. So I here is what I can tell you from my six years of experience.1. It works great. We do not burn with this sunscreen. We usually only have to apply once. If you are doing rough water stuff, or long sun hours, then obviously reapply.2. It is completely natural. The stuff in regular sunscreen is scary. Seriously, if you haven't read up on it, please do so when you have 5 minutes to spare. That's all it will take to see all of the studies and findings on hormone disruption and increase in cancer due to sun screen use. How do I know? I researched it ad nausea when my daughter developed a sun allergy - yes, allergic to the sun. The chemicals in standard sunscreen, in addition to the other yuck factors, ironically have been found to INCREASE sun sensitivity in those with sun allergy. So, obviously, that was a problem. Long story short, we found Raw Elements and have been using it since.3. This is not instant gratification sun screen. Expect to take a little time applying it. It is thick and creamy. Do it BEFORE hitting the beach, or whatever outside location. Before the kids start sweating, get impatient to get in the water, sand gets rubbed in with it, etc. Plan for 5 minutes per kid. Put a liberal amount in your hands, rub it together, then apply in long full-palm strokes. Cover everything and you won't have to reapply if you're lucky. It goes on white but rubs in well. When you get outside in the sun, it thins and turns clear. Like butter or coconut oil would do. Why? It is a physical - not a chemical - sun barrier. There is no natural liquid that can be sprayed or poured that will physically protect your skin from burning. When a sunblock goes on that easy, there are harmful chemicals in it. I'm not a doctor or scientist. Research it if you want to. Or take advantage of my hours of research and take my word - this is sunscreen 101 stuff. There are a handful of really good natural sun blocks out there and this is one of them. If you want instant, clear, application, stop looking for a natural, effective sunscreen.4. The scent is nice. To us anyway. I realize that's a personal thing but I'm baffled at the multiple reviews on the scent. Everyone in my family likes it. I've recommended it to family and friends. The feedback I get is that it works great and takes some getting used to when transitioning from chemical and spray on products, as it takes more time and a little planning, to apply.5. I now use it on my face in the summer as my day time moisturizer. A tiny bit goes a long way. I have average skin. I apply to forehead, nose, cheekbones - I avoid the TZone areas that tend to be a bit oily and don't get as much exposure. Doesn't clog my pores. Leaves a healthy sheen once it warms up and I save my skin from regular daily exposure like driving etc. Replaced another daily facial moisturizer that was spf 25. It was light and creamy and lovely and left my face with the same nice sheen. Then I realized it was a chemical sunscreen. Was sad to stop using it. Decided to try this daily and it's been great. It's in my makeup drawer at all times.6. In my opinion it is worth the price. Yes, there is less in the container than some other products. However, as mentioned, it is thick and when applied correctly, we do not often have to apply more than once. For example - For a week at the beach, two children and two adults, we will go through one and a half tubes. My husband does patchy coverage for himself, I spend time under an umbrella so I use more some days than others. The kids are slathered head to feet before we leave the house. If we are out for more than three hours I reapply to critical areas - shoulders, chest, upper back, face, ears. You get the point. For us it goes a long way. We feel it is a good value. If the scent or effectiveness has changed in my new bottle when it arrives, I'll update here. If you don't hear from me, then it is the same great product.

Moisturizing, no rashes and no sunburn ALL summer!
If you are used to traditional sunscreen using chemicals such as oxybenzone to protect against the sun, this will be a tough product for you. However, if you're a user of this type of sunscreen with the zinc oxide instead of the chemical based sunscreens, you will LOVE this. We used ThinkBaby brand for a long while, but I noticed my skin would become irritated with ThinkBaby and my son developed a rash. NOT with Raw Elements! With Raw Elements, my sensitive 40 year old skin is WELL protected, moisturized, and doesn't feel dry or break out afterwards. I have tried many natural zinc oxide based sunscreens and this one, along with Beauty by Earth, is a favorite.Raw Elements is an excellent sunscreen for all over body use/on a heavy outside activity day. We use this for our family when we go to the beach. It's not a good one for everyday/out on the town usage (I use Beauty by Earth for this) due to its thickness, but I truly love it for going to the swim park, beach/ocean, or other longer daytime activities, especially those involving water. The water will bead and roll right off of you, and it's tough for the kids to wipe off, so better protection (I have a child who wipes his eyes frequently when coming out of the water). It covers well, and if used properly and reapplied after 80 minutes in the sun, it protects well. We went all summer at the beach and various other activities and with our fair skin were NEVER burned. We always reapply in high exposed areas after being out for about 90 min. I noticed some reviewers commented on the smell. I am sensitive to smells and this did not bother me. It's due to the ingredients used, so to me it smells like putty - hard to describe. It is not strong, in my opinion, and my children became accustomed to it over the summer after using it frequently. The ingredients in the sunscreen couldn't get any better, and the moisturizing aspect of it is a huge plus for our family's sensitive skin. We've used this for 3 months solid, never any issues. Yes, it's zinc oxide so you have to really rub it in. But once you do, it covers well.I like the squeeze bottle, but my favorite is the tin can because I feel I can get every ounce of sunscreen from it easily. It's sometimes more expensive, so I buy according to Amazon's latest price trends on the containers.

I love it
I love that this is one of the mist affordable cleanest/non toxic face sunscreens out there. It rubs on smoothly, contrary to what other reviews say. A little bit goes a long way. It doesnโt break me out and a lot of products do. My 40 year old, dry, sensitive skin loves it too. The only downside to it is that it is so โoilyโ it slowly travels to my hair throughout the day, and makes it look dirty. And because it is so oily I wonder if the small amount that rubs on so easily is, in fact, protecting my face.If the company removed a bit of that oily stuff, Id get it again for every day use without doubt!

Protects All Week Long!
I purchased this for my trip to Mexico where they are pretty strict about what you can wear when swimming/snorkeling/diving in certain areas. This worked great. Here is what I believe you should know:1. It does go on thick so be prepared to do some rubbing2. It takes a while, but it will eventually rub MOSTLY into the skin3. There is a slight white sheen left on your skin. No matter how long I rubbed, it never fully absorbed into the skin.4. It isn't necessarily an unpleasant odor, but it certainly isn't neutral. I guess I'd call it musty & earthy if anything. Would be great if they could mask it with a floral or tropical aroma.5. It works great! I've gotten some pretty bad sunburns before because I'm an idiot and forget to pay attention while swimming. Even if the water is cool, having your back facing the sun for long periods of time never ends well. Except when wearing this sunscreen. I never got sunburned or even red after 7 days of swimming and snorkeling. That's a huge discovery for me!6. It won't come off in the water. I used this daily for hours snorkeling and swimming in the beautiful Caribbean waters. It didn't come off until I washed it off. Speaking of washing...7. It does take some scrubbing to get it completely off your skin. Depending on how much you use, it might take more than one hand washing to get it off. However, once I showered, it seemed to come off without worry.8. It can and does sometimes leave a residue on your clothes. Where I stayed had a washing machine so I was able to wash my clothes throughout the week. Whatever might have transferred onto my clothing came off in the wash. I cannot confirm what might happen if you leave it on for an extended time (if you can't wash it before traveling home).9. This smaller size is perfect for a week of vacationing. There was barely anything left after and entire week of use. I'm 6'-3" and I used it everywhere except my bathing suit (shorts) region. A little goes a long way if you are patient and rub.Great product. I'll be ordering it at least twice a year.

Smells weird
I purchased this sunscreen but was a bit disappointed. I haven't been out in a burning hot sun, so I don't know how well it works, although I trust other testimonials. However, the product won't come out of the tube easily. The consistency is not even and little cluttery things in it-similar to badger product but if badger product ooze oil out this one does not. It goes away when you apply it but sunscreen doesn't spread as well like other lotion or sunscreen. It's slightly yellow due to beeswax, but smells like sunflower seed or whatever. Can't use on face because you will break out. Although, if I'm going to a beach, I'd rather have acne than burn and get wrinkles in the future. I think I may use shiseido's water resistant ultmiate sunscreen for face (ZnO 13% and TiO )if I go to the beach. That product is not as eco-friendly or organic, but provides better UVB protection, and similarly high UVA protection.I don't think I need to wear raw element or any kind of water resistant sunscreen for daily use. So I store it for certain occasions. It has fairly long expiration date-2 years- so I'm happy with that.

Unusable - disappointing
I was concerned about the condition of this product when I opened it. Upon removing the safety seal, a large amount of oily liquid poured out. I closed the cap, shook the bottle thoroughly, and checked again, but the sunscreen remained extremely runny rather than having the consistency I would expect. It also had a rancid smell, suggesting the product may have degraded or gone bad. I have used mineral sunscreens before and understand that some separation can occur, but this appeared excessive and the odor was particularly concerning. Unfortunately, I did not feel comfortable using the product. The sell by date on the product is February 2029.

The Best, All-Natural Sunblock!
This is the best sunblock I've ever used. I found a recommendation to their Amazon product page back in summer 2019 when I was searching for reef-safe sunscreen for a trip to Hawaii. I am pasty-white most of the time and I burn easily and quickly (I will begin turning pink in 15 minutes without sunscreen). I put the Raw Elements sunblock on in the morning in Hawaii, and didn't have to reapply once throughout the day there, even when at the beach. I never burned!Since then, I've moved to Florida and spend a lot more time outside, and even though I will occasionally use SunBum or some other name brand, I always come back to Raw Elements because it is the best, and is more cost-efficient than the other guys (using far less per application and not many applications required). It is a very thick cream and you will need to spend time applying it. But once it's rubbed in, you're golden! The scent people are talking about is rosemary, so if that is not for you, avoid this sunblock.

Incredible!
I am so very, very pleased with this product. I was looking for the most natural sunscreen possible, and came across Raw Elements. I couldn't believe the ingredient list! the ONLY active ingredient is Zinc Oxide and EVERY single other inactive ingredient is a completely natural product (mango butter, green tea, black tea, cocoa butter, etc ... ) Sounded too good to be true and based on some other reviews about the consistency, difficulty getting it out of the tube and difficulty rubbing it in - I had my doubts. (I was looking primarily for something I could wear on my face and use on my children) But I ordered the tube of eco+ as well as the eco+ stick. Incredible products! There was no issue AT ALL with getting it out of the tube and rubbed right in leaving NO trace of white residue. I suppose I could see that if the tube was in a cold room, you might need to warm it up a bit first, but ... seriously - who cares? I find that the stick was slightly more of a matte finish than the cream in the tube, but I liked the spreadability of the cream so much that I use that one on my face anyway. It leaves a little bit of a glisten on my face that doesn't bother me at all and is very subtle anyway and goes away after wearing for a few minutes. I guess if I HAD to choose, I prefer the cream slightly over the stick because it seems to go on a little easier, but I do like the stick as well and I like it also for ease of portability and to have on hand in my purse, etc. I will 100% be ordering again when I am out of this product. LOVE IT!

this is the best sunscreen I have ever used
this is the best sunscreen I have ever used. it's very thick and needs a bit of time to properly rub in but the smell is very natural and herby and the product doesn't irritate my skin. I've even used it on my face but it is quite heavy so bear in mind

No burn guarantee
With 23% zinc oxide, this product is a hardcoresuncreen. I bought it off the recommendation of Dr Laura Bailey's blog (drbaileyskincare.com). I wouldn't wear this everyday, but for days where I'll be getting a lot of sun and am not planning on wearing makeup or other products, this does the job - protects from the sun so I don't burn and that's really all I'm looking for. What's not so great is the smell - kind of plant oily/fishy, but not too bad and of course it's thick and sticky and leaves a white cast, but I don't mind it on the days where all I want is protection, not an aesthetically pleasing look. Other great stuff about it (it's all written on the tube) - eco safe, natural, no chemicals, fragrances and of course it's Leaping Bunny Certified which I love. Great product for days spent in the sun. Great seller experience too, no problems.

King eco sunscreen
Really good - stopped me burning in the Caribbean. Reef safe too, so you can go snorkeling in coral reef areas and not harm the wildlife. Only problem: buy 2, not loads in it.

Great product but tube less than half full!
Good product, rubs in nicely without leaving that heavy feeling on the skin as with most other sun creams you can buy. Smells fairly pleasant too. Only downside is the tube is literally less than half full when you receive it, with the amount in it I honestly don't think it will be anywhere near enough for a weeks holiday for 2 people and for the what it costs I think that's a bit cheeky! Overall a fab product but a rip off the way it's packaged!

Pretty nasty, I am sorry to say
I am sorry to say but (imho) this smells horrible and is very hard to rub in. I ended up throwing it away and ordered another one.
