There is a strong smell of plastic at first but it goes away after a while. This is my second purchase of this book bag. My first book bag ripped open because I slightly overstuffed it last summer and the plastic was more malleable due to the heat so it tore away from the stitching. With that said, be very mindful of how many items you place in the book bag during hotter days - it might burst open (not with excitement).

**Q: Loading capacity? How many Lb ?**
A: I’m not sure of the capacity, but loaded full of books and a Chromebook, it only lasted about a month and a half

**Q: can the side pocket handle a 10 inch tall bottle without it falling out?**
A: No...not ment for holding a large bottle.

**Q: Damage return? i purchased this backpack in august. it didn't last 4months. the stitching for one of the straps came loose, leaving one strap useless.**
A: The bag is very study. Sounds like you might have overload you bag, over and over. Call Amazon for return / replacement policy.

**Q: Purchased this backpack in January it has ripped there is suppose to be warranty. How do we get replacement or refund?**
