Fantastic Coffee Maker
I am so pleased with this new coffee maker. It has a substantial feel. It's made in the Netherlands, with a reputation for quality, and good worker conditions. Finally something not made in China. There is just an on/off button. You don't have to spend all day micromanaging your brew settings with delusions of grandeur that you're a master Q grader. You delegate brewing responsibility to the coffee maker. How refreshing. It is amazing how quickly this unit boils water. You will connect with your inner nerd watching the water boil up through the glass tube, delighting in the simple things. There is exactly one setting - the flow rate of the water. If you brew a half pot, you select half flow in the brew basket. More than half a pot, you select full flow. A slower rate of flow allows the water more time to saturate the grounds. If you like a coffee slightly less full flavored, you could brew a half pot but use the full flow setting. There is also a setting to completely turn off the flow altogether. I have no idea why you would do that. Perhaps when the coffee maker is not in use? Or to play a trick on your significant other, whom will be too sleepy to look at the setting? Better plan to not be there. The unit is incredibly easy to clean. Just wash up the carafe, brew basket, and the lid. That's it. There are two lids to the carafe. One is for brewing, and delivers the brew to the bottom of the carafe via a long tube. This is to ensure the liquid mixes during brewing, so you don't get stratification of flavor. There is also a travel lid that is completely sealed, with no tube. You have to loosen the lid at least a quarter turn to pour. The brew lid requires no turning to pour. The travel lid would be great if you brew a pot of coffee to send down to the barn or garage on a chill winter day.I chose the version with the stainless steel carafe instead of the glass pot with heating element. A glass pot will continue to heat the coffee on the hot plate, resulting in bitterness if enough time goes by. That's why servers dump the last cup of coffee from the pot and start anew if it's been sitting more than a few minutes. It quickly becomes dark and bitter. The stainless steel carafe keeps it hot without further heating it. I haven't had to hold coffee for any significant length of time, and so can't comment on that aspect. Typically, insulated containers should be rinsed with hot water just prior to use so that you don't loose any heat energy of the stored liquid bringing the container itself up to temperature.I don't even drink coffee. I'm a tea person. But I love using this machine every morning. My husband is working and getting groceries for me during the Covid-19 pandemic. I have asthma, so he's been doing as much as he can to minimize how often I have to go out. Making a loved one a hot cup of coffee is like a warm hug, and the least I can do considering he's serving as tribute for our family in this crisis.Show your own family how much you love them and buy a Moccamaster.

Pleased.... So far
Time will tell as it always does regarding the True Value of this Coffee Maker. I purchased it based on the plastic safe promises. I often make coffee in a French Press but that is obviously not as convenient as an automatic brew. The carafe is quite nice and seems high quality as well as the main body part. I do however, find the brew basket and cover to be very thin and flimsy. Perhaps because it does not contain the toxic plastics that other makers have. I can live with that. As far as the cup of Java that it produces.... I think much of that has to do with the quality of water and beans. We are quite Finicky! For us... it makes a Really Good Tasting Cup

But it
Best investment I’ve made in awhile! I live at high altitude and have been using this for a few days. Every pot is hot! Flavor brews full bodied & yet smooth. No bitter. The carafe keeps it hot for hours

Dangerous! Coffee Brewer is wired incorrectly and causes fuse to flip.
After 10 years, we decided to upgrade from our previous MoccaMaster. For $325, we expected another 10 years of great coffee, but what we got was an electrical nightmare. After receiving the maker, we plugged it and then turned the maker on, we heard a "pop". All of our kitchen outlets did not work. After going to see the cause, we saw a breaker was open. After turning it back on, the coffee maker and outlets did not work. We then used an outlet which has a breaker on it, and we saw the problem. It flipped the fuse!Sending back. Customer service was no help

Coffee snob approved
I am a coffee snob. I only purchase the best freshly roasted beans from niche roasters that source them with care.Still, even though I have owned several coffee makers through the years (all considered “top of the line”) but the coffee was just “ok”.I had settled, until in need of a new coffee maker recently. I decided to try the Moccamaster, given all the positive reviews. Honestly, I was blown away! A very simple machine, but finally the coffee I make at home truly tastes amazing. I am so happy I tried the Moccamaster and recommend it to anyone who loves great coffee.
