Excellent kit
I use two of these to make a 13 foot gate. I replace the cable with a chain and larger turnbuckle due to the weight of the wood. The cable probably would have been fine but would also probably have needed to be tightened overtime due to the stretching the chain has no stretch. The metal frame and hinge made the gate strong and sturdy. I have started eyeballing all of my other four foot Gates around my property and I'm debating on swapping them out for this system. You could probably hit my gate with a truck and not go through it at this point. I use 6 by 6 Post in the corners Planet 3 ft deep and metal tubes in the middle with their drop down pins for securing in the middle. The picture was when the middle pin pipes were hardeninb in concrete and no the dog is not taking a poo.

It’s easy to install
A decent medium duty fence at a reasonable price that we’ve used several times on wood, metal and recently a masonry fence. It’s easy to install, great for dealing with odd sized openings and even handling some out of plumb walls. The latch mechanism isn’t fantastic but it’s usable – I’ve replaced it with upgraded latches on a couple projects. I’ve included pictures of the masonry and metal installs since I’ve seen questions about if that can be done – yes, it can. You’ll want to use wall plate hinge (pegs) for the masonry install (I used these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004EKNTEG/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and I used my own heavier duty self tapping screws for the metal gate install, the ones they ship are a bit light duty. Overall, good design that’s easy to customize, no issues thus far with anything failing on me. Upgrade latch and attachment hardware as needed.

great gate, cheap hardware
The gate itself is a 5 star product - minus 1/2 star for ridiculously cheap hardware, and minus another 1/2 because people have been reporting this in their reviews for ages, and the manufacturer is not listening.PROS: arrived in great condition, great finish on the steel, very simple to install. Bought 2 to make a 12 foot double gate and its perfect - no sag whatsoever.CONS: cheap & nasty screws & latch (the hinges are great). Wood screws were passable, but the steel self-tappers weren't (replaced these with decent ones). The latch isn't galvanized or otherwise treated and I imagine will rust. Also, need to cut recess into 1st board as hinge receivers and bolt protrude.TIPS: the gate is designed top open inwards, but mine was to replace an outward opening gate (due to direction of slope). You can do this by swapping the sides of the latch and latch bar. Also, the steel plate that protects the latch from slamming needs to be mounted on the board side - so you need to make a cut-out on the first board to allow it to contact the frame when it closes (I overlapped half a board so that the cutout is covered when the gate closes)The gate is also designed to latch against a gate post. If you need it to latch against a second gate (or open outwards), you will need to drill your own holes to mount the latch and bar. The size of the steel frame, position of the welds etc doesn't give you much room, but it is doable if you are careful. Also, check the frame for square front to back before you screw in your 2x4s. I had to push my bottom 2x4 outwards with respect to the frame to keep it square (as timbers weren't dead straight). Once the screws were in, it was perfect.Final tip - the hinge receivers on the frame and the bolt head protrude on the board side of the gate. If you want those boards to lie flat on the frame, use a sharp chisel to cut a recess into the board to allow it to sit flat on the frame.

and is relatively easy to install
I purchased this product on amazon due to the fact that it was both cheaper, and shipped faster than Lowes. I was looking for a way to have a single gate at almost 8 feet wide in order to bring a vehicle onto my back patio. This worked wonders, and is relatively easy to install. You will need a second pair of hands, and several tools that most people likely have. The instructions were simple, and all of the items needed to make it work were present. I have used the smaller version of this for three other gates, and I HIGHLY recommend the expense for a wooden fence gate. The only thing you may have to do is add an additional piece of 2x4 to the front of this in order to get a flush mount on the fence.YOU WILL NEED at least two 8 foot 2x4's, and I recommend hex-head deck screws for maximum security. A drill, drill-bit, and regular hand tools should do the rest. I recommend using a vice grip to tighten the cable.

The hardware is junk and will need to be replaced.
I struggled debating whether this product deserved three or two stars and I'll try to be brief. I had never installed a gate which is why I purchased this kit.#1 - the hardware is complete junk. Within 20 minutes I realized I would be better off replacing it at a local hardware store. The screws strip causing a lot of headache. That was another $30 as soon as I started.#2 - the directions are not helpful for someone unfamiliar with how to install a gate. No zoomed in pictures to visualize what you need to be mindful of. YouTube videos made it seem like it was simple but my experience was the complete opposite.#3 - the full adjustment BARELY moved the gate higher on the latch side. My gate was a little over 7' so I expected some sag but after tightening it as much as I can, it still isnt even and I'm afraid if I twist further the cable may break.I wont embarrass myself by detailing what we went through but needless to say, this took WAY longer than I anticipated - and I had someone helping me.Its finally finished but it was a nightmare and having to make two trips to Lowes and pay another $30 replacing the hardware sucked.Plan for 3-4 hours to install correctly including a trip or two to the local hardware store. I'm probably going to replace the cable with a heavier gauge steel before the week is over.
