IT WORKED! GREAT! I have a new TV - they not longer have an earphone jack where I always hook up a speaker to put next to me on the sofa or at my desk so that the TV sound is where I am, not blasting across the room. I do not like bluetooth as it picks up other channels in my apartment building! So . . . I used the HDMI jack and got a sound bar with remote control. Hated it. Too big, too cumbersome, too muffled. ANOTHER remote control. I missed my two little Amazon Basics analog speakers, with a volume control hand knob. I tape them together (black tape) and move around with me. THIS convertor allowed me to attach them with the optic jack. (who knew "optic" jack was for sound?) Using a 15 foot optic cable, & this convertor I plugged them in. Voilà! Portable speakers from sofa to desk. NO ONE had the answer how to do it. Thank you Amazon & Converter supplier! ( PS I put black tape over "blue/on light" to cover the light and put a pin hole in it. I can see when speakers or turned on but blue light is not annoying)

This worked out well with my vintage stereo system and my flat panel television

June 17, 2026 What to know: I bought this unit one year ago. Works well, except, there is an unlabeled, unmarked, unadvertised feature that is important to know about, and that is BLUETOOTH CONNECTIVITY set to RECEIVE MODE ONLY. And when paired to Bluetooth transmitting device, overrides all other inputs. This unit uses a chip set that broadcasts YQ-88C as a Bluetooth pairing client. And, anytime the unit receives power this agent is broadcasting receiving pairing signal. Therefore, if you are trying to pair headphones to a device, this extra Bluetooth client is there, interfering and competing with the headphone pairing to another device. Pairing devices without a pairing client display will usually pair with the YQ-88C chip set as the signal strength is strong, or will not pair at all. Look at your Bluetooth pairing client list on your smartphone to see the YQ-88C. This choice to choose a paring client may and may not be available on most simple Bluetooth TX/RX units or be selectable by those units. I have thrown out many simple TX/RX Bluetooth units because they did not seem to pair with my headphones.

Used this to get analog from my 4k smart tv that only has an optical audio output. The 3.5mm cable is run to a $30 2.1 stereo driver board I bought on here that powers some dual 100 watt tower speakers and a 50 watt subwoofer. No issues found.

I would avoid this item. I was unable to get it to produce any output what so ever. Its junk!

I bought this for my elderly mother and need to stop by occasionally to reset the unit.
