Imported Rice Red Thai Rice - 2 Lbs

There are several varieties of red rice. This is a Thai variety that I find has a "nuttier" taste than similar Himalayan/Bhutanese red rice. The cooking instructions included with this rice call for an initial stir-fry of the uncooked grains. Don't skip this step -- it adds to the flavor and consistency. The price is obviously a bit higher than plain white or Basmati rice but the flavor (and color) makes for a nice change in Indian or Asian dishes. Highly recommended.

I love the red rice we get at our local Thai restaurant. This rice somehow lacks the nutty flavor of the particular one we enjoy. I have asked restaurant people for the brand name, they could not tell me the brand, if there was one. So decided to take a chance on this, but not sure if I will buy again. I cooked this rice in the brown rice mode in the rice cooker, not sure if there is particular way to cook this rice for better taste.

For some reason I can't find red rice locally. I use it for a rice mix (brown, wild and red) that I make almost weekly. I toast it in butter, add broth and some diced veggies and have a yummy dish in 35-40 minutes. Sometimes we just have this and a salad for dinner

Great taste. Easy to cook. Use same as brown rice. Better taste. Love the color makes meals look so attractive. Healthy.
