Can I pour onto ice, then add a can of soda water, just to get a taste of cola, or do I need a Soda Stream type device? Nutritional Info?

You definitely do NOT need a SodaStream device. In fact, I have been experimenting with mineral water (not terribly expensive if you stay away from the highly advertised  brands, and it tastes great. Or you can use any soda water. It is just CO2 and water, all brands are the same. However, I've been having a hard time finding club soda. There are less expensive options for CO2 cartridges than than SodaStream. Just check the Internet for instructions on Co2 canisters. Nutritionally, soda water has no calories and the Monin brand of cola syrup is made with cane sugar rather than corn syrup...much healthier. My favorite part best part is that I control the amount of cola (or other syrup) I use, and therefore, I determine the calorie content. You'd be surprised how little cola syrup you actually need to satisfy your cola craving. You can check the Monin website for more info on nutrition.

What are the ingredients? I'm trying to avoid petrochemicals, and am thus avoiding artificial color

Ingredients: pure cane sugar, water, natural flavors, kola nut extract, citric acid, tartaric acid, malic acid and caramel color. I am trying to avoid phosphoric acid, so I prefer this to the soda stream zero cola.

Let's try this again.. What is the ratio required of Syrup vs Water to produce a beverage? How much syrup to a 2 Liter bottle of water?

Joe B.There is 67.628 oz in 2LOne liter contains 33.814 fluid ounces, so two liters would equal 67.628 fluid ounces. 67.628 divided by 8 equals 8.45  8-oz portions, or almost 8 1/2 cups. Per 2LSo, using a 16oz. glass with ice the recommended amount of syrup is 2½ oz. Carrying that out it comes to 2.5 oz x 8.45 portions in 2 L which= 21.125oz per 2L btl.  of sparkling water.In a 750ml btl.  of cola syrup which is 25.4 fl. oz that would come out to  2.6 cups of syrup to  2l btl of sparkling water, or just over 2 ½ cups of syrup.  Hope this helps, sorry it was this complicated.  Of course if it is too strong or too weak, you can just add more syrup to the glass or more sparkling water, but that's a good starting point --Good Luck, Carl
