The Green Florilegium

This reproduction of a 17th century German book about plants has handsome illustrations with German and English text on very high quality paper. The vibrancy of the illustrations is remarkable. The book is beautifully bound and comes in a matching slipcase. You could not go wrong presenting this to someone who loves plants - even if they are not familiar with all those depicted in this book. It is a treat for the eyes to peruse the book plus a trove of information about plants. Ironically, the name of the person who did these illustrations is not known for sure, but he clearly had great talent. So, if you are interested in plants, get this book! It is well worth the Amazon price - and more.

I am flabbergasted how awesome this book is. It's way more full page color art than I expected. The drawings are exquisite and printing and binding quality are pretty high. Really fun to just look at the pictures. This would make an amazing coffee table book.

This is almost too beautiful to be considered a coffee table book, but it makes an ideal one. The restored plates by the great 17th century flower painter Hans Simon Holtzbecker are a joy to behold - and for me something of a discovery. If you like this genre, this is definitely for you.

Beautiful book! I am enjoying it aesthetically and learning a lot too. Looking at it is mood-transformative.

The pictures are well done and are the real bang for the buck in the book. Did not spend much time with the text because the enjoyment of this book is the beauty of the floral renderings

The cover of the actual case has the image flipped horizontally, with the petals on right side and leaves on the left. The book has too many tulips in it. I would have liked a wider variety.
