Pearl Life Tsukemono Round Pickle Press"P-Carrot", 2.2 L

We learned about these from a friend, who had some of the pickles at a dinner. We ordered right away and are glad we did. We enjoy the pickles (not really the word for them since they are really the Japanese style--lightly "pickled." More like a sauerkraut, except you can include lots more than cabbage. The instruction book is in Japanese and even in the Japanese has very little "instruction." So go to the Amazon reviews or YouTube for recipes and procedures. It's worth it. I've used cucumbers, onion, peppers, cabbage, garlic in different combinations. All have turned out excellent. And it's easy to do. Smash the veggies and put them away in a cool-ish spot and check every once in a while and crank the handle down.

I use this to make Kim Chi and it turned out very good. Been using it many years.

I had a tsukemono press that's more than 30 years old. This one is not made sturdy like the one I bought 30 years ago but acceptable. It does the job. I wish some mfg. in Japan can make a tsukemono press made out of glass in this style.

For pickling vegetables.

Usef for cucumbers and cabbage. Turned out great. Little flimsy but its fine.

This press isn't as sturdy as it looks. The pressing plate is really flimsy and the dial mechanism/spring mechanism doesn't extend all the way down. It stops maybe a quarter from the top. I really wanted to love this press because it reminded me of my obachan's old school press. Maybe I received a defective unit.

In a dark cool corner working its little heart out.....Just right for 2 people.

Super practical

野菜の浅漬け用に。塩水に沈めるだけなので、強い圧力をかけないくても良い。そのため蓋も簡単に開けられる。圧力調節用ノブが上に飛び出していないし、楕円っぽい形も気に入った。一人使いに手頃なサイズを選んだので、冷蔵庫内にすっきり収まった。後で、同じものをもう一つ購入。これは、冷蔵庫に入れず、室温用。

漬物が簡単にできるので重宝していたがしっかり漬けようと締めすぎて壊れた。金属でできないものか・・・。
