THIS IS THE BRUSH YOU WANT. NOT AN AI REVIEW
I developed a small obsession for mixed nylon-boar bristle brushes from seeing Mason Pearson brushes reviewed online, but I can’t justify over $200 for a hair brush, “heirloom” or not! I was between this and the Kent (I have and love Kent combs), but after reading reviews of both, I chose this one for the flat cut nylon bristles, which are invigorating but still comfortable on the scalp - no sharp angles for this tenderhead. Big boar propaganda tells us the bristles help distribute your natural scalp oils from the roots to the tips of the hair. The cuticle structures of natural boar bristle are similar to hair strands, which is why it carries the oil so effectively but also buffs your cuticle smooth with regular use. The key to longevity is keeping the brush free of hair after each use and cleaning the brush with shampoo and drying thoroughly at least once a month if not 2x. The brush design feels great in the hand and is very lightweight but sturdy and well made with a “Made in U.K” engraving. The pad rubber seems durable and has some give but isn’t overly soft and doesn’t collapse completely. Bristles are dense but with room in between, so it works well even with my thick hair type. I’m a guy with medium length, straight-to-wavy, thick, dark European hair, but I imagine it would detangle easily for longer and curly types while not losing texture. Although I usually fight it, the brush has brought out the best attributes of how wavy my hair can be. After a few days, I can see and feel a difference in the shine and how my hair holds a style.

Excellent quality
I love this brush. Be careful as it has longer bristles and it can feel as if your brain is being brushed. It glides through my hair very easily and my hair looks well brushed and not separated as it did with other brushes..so glad I purchased after keeping this brush in my cart for about a month..

Its a Yes for the Curly Girls Who Want Juicy Clumps and Definition
I am going to premise this review by giving a little background about my hair. I am a natural 3B ringlet curls girl with VERY soft, fine hair but I have A LOT of it. I have 95% 3B curls with some 3A looser curls around the nape of my neck and ears. My hair holds a curl very easily and I don't really have to do any major styling to achieve my ringlets. The one very random, major issue I have with my hair is unlike other ringlet curl girls, my hair does not clump together naturally at the top of my hair or have any sort of curl definition if I do not use a brush to style it. However, the length of my hair clumps all by itself. Wash Go's don't exist to me and I HATE the outcome. This is a more recent issue honestly and I am not sure if my curl pattern is changing or if its due to hard water damage. My hair is super healthy and I would say its a medium porosity level. It likes both protein and moisture and I really don't lack in either one. I never need more than a cream and a gel to style my hair and I always defuse it. I have used the 7 row and 10 row Denman in the past and while they did clump my hair, they did nothing for my root issue. I give you all this info so you have a basis of what my issues are and where my hair is at. Hopefully it will help you determine whether this brush is for you. My major goals with this brush: more clumping, less need for finger coiling looser areas, faster styling and to achieve more definition and clumping from the roots of my hair so it matches the lengths of my hair. This brush did just that! The other 2 Denman brushes I own are good but they didn't have tension I needed. I section off my hair and take about 2" diagonal sections pulling up and away from my face to create my clumps from root to tip. With this brush I am able to achieve that even clumping and curl pattern I am looking for. The tension on this brush is great and makes styling super easy and fast. I find the density and combination of different bristles grips the sections better. I style my hair soaking wet with my cream in it and re-wet to scrunch the gel in once I'm done brush styling. The result juicy, even, very defined curls. Who I think this brush is for: Soft, thicker hair textures ( Wouldn't recommend for coarser hair) Those who have trouble with clumping Girls curl training for ringlet curls Girls who style on VERY wet hair Who it's not for: Girls who are not focused on definition Girls for Focused on Volume - with more definition comes less volume Coarser hair types- the brush may not be strong enough or may even rip your hair Curly girls who have naturally well clumped hair Wavy hair girls who don't need clumping My one biggest call out with this brush is that I think that it will be something I have to repurchase at least 1-2 times a year. My thick hair is already starting to widen the outer bristles of the brush from the tension my hair places on it. For the results I'm getting though I don't really care. I have also tried the "Spornette Large Cushion Boar and Nylon Bristle" here on amazon and can say it may work for less dense curly girls as well. It wasn't dense enough to create the tension my hair needed to clump and left a weird part it the back of my hair that looked like the red sea separating every time I used it. It was super light weight and a really great brush for those who do not style in diagonal sections though. Hope this helps!

Less dense boar bristles but still efficient and effective
I have a lot of long, curly hair. I keep treatments to a minimum, so no dyes and no hot tools if I can help it. I also used to be an every-day shampooer until I learned better about how to take care of my curls and keep my scalp clean. Oil production was an issue after 3 decades of daily washing, so I went through a 6-month detox using a non-detergent hair cleanser before going back to shampoo twice per week. It’s been a good 6 years since and while my scalp still produces significantly less sebum than before, I changed shampoo products and my scalp did not like it. That’s when I bought this brush; I was looking specifically for something with boar bristles and headless pins. Boar bristles are well established for gentle brushing and distributing sebum throughout the hair. They are not well-suited for detangling, thick, or curly hair because despite their thickness, they do bend too much for these hair types, hence the nylon pins. I wanted them to be headless because headless pins are much more gentle in detangling since the hair cannot tangle itself around the head or get caught on rubber that has lifted from the pin. Headless pins can penetrate thick and curly hair and the act of brushing the scalp also helps exfoliate. This style of brush is perfect for assisting with sebum control when you do not shampoo frequently. I considered this brush for a long time before purchasing, reading the reviews and ultimately deciding to buy it precisely because one of the pictures in reviews showed that this model had LESS boar bristles than in previous years. I wanted that because of the thick, curly hair; when the boar bristles are too dense, it will only brush the layer of hair closest to the surface. I own a DuraSilk that I struggled with for the density of the bristles. The brush still has a good amount of boar bristles, and does an excellent job of sebum distribution. Very satisfied with my purchase.
