Epson Workforce WF-3620 WiFi Direct All-in-One Color Inkjet Printer, Copier, Scanner, Amazon Dash Replenishment Ready

UPDATE: The black failed on this printer. I tried cleaning the print head with a cleaning kit and replacing the cartridge. Neither worked. So it is now just a paper weight. I'll try HP next. My original review follows. I was impressed with the printer until now.Just got my new printer and printed a test page successfully. It took about half an hour to unpack and set up the printer, including the wireless interface to the computer. The setup instructions were very clear, there were just a lot of steps. The printer was heavier than I expected, since my previous inkjet printer was very light and felt almost like a toy. This one is quite solid. The LCD screen is small but readable. The most difficult step for some users will be finding the SSID password for your router. I haven't printed anything more than the test page, but that page looks terrific. Being wireless it's nice to have one less cable dangling behind my desk. It also allows me to print from any other wireless device without having to download images to my computer. The printer does make a bit of noise, but what printer doesn't. The initial setup was particularly noisy as it was aligning the print head. The motor that drives the print head makes a nice zipping sound and the print head clunks at the end of its travel. These are familiar sounds and nothing unusual. It is a bit faster in all respects than the HP printer that it replaced. I will be interested to see how thirsty it is for ink. I did a bit of research before buying and learned that it has a replaceable maintenance well that holds the ink that is ejected from the print head to clear it. This is part of the razor and blade economics common to all printers. Since I don't do much printing it won't break the budget. But for high volume printing it is something to consider.Update #1: The setup I described above did not include Epson Connect, which is how you can get the printer to print from any device with WiFi or internet capability. It took me a couple of hours to figure out how to make that happen. But eventually it did, and I managed to print a color photo from my Samsung Galaxy III phone. It worked as advertized.Several reviews complained about the cartridges that come with the printer. While I haven't printed enough to get a true assessment of how much ink they contain, the printer status shows all four cartridges as being full and being the XL size. As for replacement cartridges, I found a source, inkproducts.com, that offers third party replacements that can be refilled. If these work, the cost is way less than buying new cartridges every time. As I mentioned in my original review, the cartridges can be replaced individually, and you can buy the four different colors individually and replace only what is consumed. The website and youtube have very good videos that show you how to refill the cartridges. The website also sells a maintenance unit that can be reused over and over. It has a small cup that receives the ejected ink that you can just dump out. It has a device for resetting the chip so the printer thinks it's a new unit. Their ink cartridges don't even require resetting, although the printer will recognize them as not being Epson cartridges. It doesn't seem to mind.After I got my printer set up I ran their software updater. It allowed me to download the latest firmware for the printer. I suspect that with the right firmware the printer could be made to continue printing in black without having to have all the color cartridges full. It would probably take a lot of continued complaints about this to Epson to change this, but I just bet it could be done. So let Epson know this is something you want. If you are silent then you can't expect a change.

Bought this printer on the evening of 11/26/16 at Office Depot, didn't set it up till the 1st of December. I usually do a through research before I purchase any product, however, I haven't with this one, trusted the sales guy to lead me to a great product for a replacement of my leaked ink HP PhotoSmart 8250 printer (which I've owned since 2008) by the way Thee BEST Photo printer by far. I wish I would have Read Reviews first!I installed, registered and setup everything as instructed and it worked flawlessly except from the mobile devices. I have a very wide knowledge in software troubleshooting as I am tech savvy, so I did some digging and finally found an app that works with my all of my android devices, so that was a problem solved. Now mind you, if you're not as tech savvy as I am, an average person wouldn't be able to figure it out as the Epson website does not have a solution to the problem. I have printed about 50-60 pages since 5 days ago, Today 12/05/16 I turn the printer on and it runs through it's head cleaning, then stops, shuts off, just to turn back on and do it over and over and over and over, you get the point. Ink was full, now completely gone! I cannot connect to the printer neither through wireless or usb connection at all, to manually reset it or fix. Epson has no solution and neither does internet for the problem I'm experiencing, and it won't even give me any error, NONE! Per Epson's user guide, I've disconnected printer from the outlet and pull the plug out of the printer, did a reset by holding down power and stop button for 7 seconds or more, waited 15 seconds then plug everything back to no avail! I'm attaching a video I took of the problem I'm experiencing with this printer, so you can see what I'm talking about. BTW, I had to stop the recording because it took over 4 minutes and it still wouldn't stop, very very frustrating!Thank goodness I'm still within a 14 day period so I can get a full refund, oh and I bought a 2yr warranty because the sales guy kept on with it, I now see why! I will never buy another Epson product again! I still own NX110 that I only used for scanning and fax because my HP was for printing photo and color pages. After I return this product, I'm going with possibly the HP Envy tomorrow from Best Buy!Please, save yourself heartache, aggravation and money, stay far away from Epson Products! They're not worth it!

The Epson Workforce 3620 is a fabulous machine. It took me several months of research to finally decide which model to purchase, after much research and review I finally decided on the 3620 or the 3640. I finally realized that both machines are practically identically except that the 3640 has the capacity to load 500 sheets of paper in two different trays, while the 3620 with only one try can hold 250 sheets. They are both priced at the same level, so the decision of which to chose would come down to a individual choice, depending on your print usage.I must admit that setting up the printer was a bit tedious and it took sometime to complete, my only disappointment so far is that the instructions and user guide needs to be vastly improved, its obvious that not much time and thought was put into creating a user friendly, easy to follow instructions guide or manual, the minor details were not properly explained and that in itself creates more confusion and time constraints in setting up the printer. For example in Step 2 "Turn on and configure", the first few prompts on the touch screen were easy to follow but when you get to entering the date feature, I got stuck because there is no feature for you to select indicating that you are done, all I was left with is a blinking light on the last number in the year, there is no "OK" or "ENTER" button that allows you to continue with the Time prompt, it just leaves you hanging, then no matter what key you press, I was just not able to complete the date and time. So I had to call tech support and even the technician I spoke to was not able to quickly offer any solution, until he placed me on hold to get advise from his supervisor, then he finally had me select the but with the Arrow, which is actually the return button, so it appears that this is return button performs the function of "OK" or " ENTER" allowing you to continue with the installation, it was only then that I was able to continue to entering the Date. It would have been so much easier if this minor but important detail was noted somewhere in the manual. Other than this somewhat minor glitch, the rest of the steps went smoothly, but it did slow down my momentum as I tried to find a solution on line, I went to Epson website and spent many hours just trying to find a answer. I was not able to find any discussion or solution so that was when I decided to call tech support.I would still highly recommend this printer over any of the competitors, the print quality is excellent and the color copies are very professional. You also have the ability to send and receive fax so with this printer you have the ability to run your complete home office

The first time I bought this printer, I thought it was a lemon because the ink wouldn't transfer onto paper. Sent it back to Amazon (their online customer service is very helpful) and ordered a replacement. I had the same problem with the replacement. I called my friend, who was on vacation and who owns a similar Epson model to help me troubleshoot. Turns out, the yellow stickers need to be peeled from the side of the cartridges in order for them to transfer ink properly. Not sure if this is what really solved the problem, but it worked for me. I emphasize this because some the directions, that appear as a pictorial flowchart, didn't point that out as well as I would have liked. To each is own, but that's just me. Lesson learned: Peel the yellow stickers on the side (and not the labels).After that, it took a total of five "print head cleanings" to get it to print sharp, dark and complete images and text. I probably wasted half of all the ink that came with the printer in the process. At any rate, the replacement, which came awful close to being given lemon status turned out to be a delightful machine that has served me well so far.I bought this printer for home/small-business use - mainly for it's duplex Automatic Document Feeder. It's no Snapscan, but it will certainly get the job done if you're sticking with AA documents and business envelopes. Sometimes I scan directly to Evernote or Dropbox from WF-3620 (it also supports MS OneDrive, Box.net, and Google Drive). It will even scan to my Mac from the WF-3620 without needing a prompt from the Mac.What else...as far as printing goes, its fast (if you're using normal quality and printing text only), crisp and very sharp. Pictures/illustrations are also very good, but not quite fantastic. It handles a range of paper qualities so you can feel absolutely confident in printing documents for a formal report, presentation, or resume.The noise it produces is generally what you'd expect for hardware of it's class - average. Not unbearably loud, but not close to quiet either.This 20 lb printer sits on a three-tier bookshelf and is supported on a 14 x 14 surface - meaning that this powerful piece of tech is very capable of making itself at home in a tiny apartment or office with limited space to go by.The iOS app makes it pretty easy to help you print, scan, copy, upload and download your stored data from the WF-3620. I've used it to print and scan documents to and from Evernote and Dropbox with incredible ease. The one limitation to this app is that it doesn't support faxing (I noticed that HP's iOS app does). Not a big deal for me because I don't fax, but does beg to ask the question of "why the omission, Epson"? Another cool feature is Epson Connect, which supports printing via email. In short: You register the printer with Epson, whereby they supply you a custom email. So anytime you're away from your printer, just send an email in text and/or an jpeg image through either your computer or mobile device and it will print right away.Bottom line: Be sure to give the printer a thorough testing to make sure it isn't a lemon!!!! Otherwise, the WF-3620 is very good all-in-one for the home.

Ordered from Amazon on Sat 13 Dec and received via Fed Ex morning of 15 Dec (Prime member) the WF-3620 for my wife's business. The printer is installed on an Apple iMac 27" running OS X 10.10.1 (Yosemite). After removing the yellow sticker tab from each ink cartridge and firmly pressing them in place, the cartridges loaded without issue (initialization took approx 10 mins). The printer is fairly loud when loading the cartridges but not any worse than my Epson RX595 or WF600 printers. Initializing printer was fairly straight forward, and I like the touch screen which in my opinion is more straight forward compared my other printers. Initially, I attached the printer to the computer and loaded the printer via the system preferences > Printers & Scanners > add method. The printer was recognized and test prints were very fast with nice quality prints. However, when I tried to scan I received an error message. After going through the packaging, I found Espon's 'Start Here' guide and saw that there was a software install for both Windows and OS X. Fortunately I have a CD drive, after loading the cd and clicking on the software app it sends you to Epson's web page to download a "Drivers and Utilities Combo package" that took approx 10 - 15 min to download via DSL. After installing the software It guides you through setting up the printer (type of connection, how and when to connect to the computer, and fax setup). After following the instructions and installing drivers and utilities everything works beautifully. For those without a cd or dvd reader, on Epson's web page go to Support and look up Epson WorkForce WF-3620 All-in-One Printer, then Operating System Mac OS X 10.10.x and then look for Drivers and Utilities Combo Package the software is - epson15401.dmg - the download size is 126.5 MB.The printing on the WF3620 is definitely some kinda fast compared to my older RX595 and WF600. And the print quality appears to be quite a bit sharper too.

Update 05/04/2015 - Piece of junk. I've had this printer for under 9 months, and it has been working great! However, it just died. I replaced the black ink cartridge for the second time and the other 3 cartridges for the first time, and now I am getting an Error Code 0x97 every time I print. Unfortunately, now, I am going to have to deal with Epson support, who will either replace it with a refurb or have me ship it somewhere to be repaired. This is ridiculous! I should have left it alone after the first one bombed on its first day.Our color laser printer (Brother) recently died after about 5 years. The color print quality on the Brother was not good at all, so I wanted to be sure to get a new printer with excellent color print quality. I also wanted scanner/copier features. I did substantial research and decided on the Epson WF-3620.Unfortunately the first one did not make it past the initial setup and configuration. It kept giving me an error that was not documented by Epson, so apparently the printer was defective. I returned it to Amazon and took a chance on another one.I am thoroughly satisfied with this inkjet. The color quality is excellent, it's quick to print (if not faster, as fast as my old laser), and surprisingly I am still using the original ink cartridges, which come with less ink than the individually sold cartridges. Granted, we don't print on a daily basis, but my wife has used it for printing out our children's curriculum, my older kids have used it for homework and projects, and my younger son has used it to print out coloring pages from the Disney website.Setup was a breeze, and I love the web-based printer configuration. There are lots of features that I am not using like Epson Connect, Google Cloud, Air Print, etc.... I just don't need them, but I can see how these would benefit someone always on the go or away from home.

+4 stars for being a very versatile printer (5), -1 star for going too far trying to enforce use of Epson ink. (4) -3 stars for designing a printer that's too complicated/cheap to last past 1 year or 1-2 ink changes. (1) +1 star for customer service sort of trying to help, and at least paying for shipping of broken printers or bad Epson ink that it can't detect. Bringing us to a fairly poor 2 Star Review.Scans, copies, can print on a large variety of paper types in many different qualities. Easy wi-fi access. The printer is cheap. I would be very happy with this printer if it wasn't for its tendency to clog/stop working and the ridiculous ink practices.Worked great as a home printer for ~8 months, changed the ink cartridges and immediately clog problems began. Auto-cleaning programs worked for another 3 months while HEAVILY wasting ink the entire time. 3rd ink change (much sooner than should be necessary) and one color no longer prints entirely with no help from the auto-cleaning program. The printer is too "complicated" to be cleaned at home or have a nozzle replaced so in the end I ship it out for a replacement printer.New printer arrives, and the Epson branded ink that comes with it don't work with the printer. They've designed so many guards against re-fills and off brands that there isn't even work-arounds to their own ink failing the test. If a different ink cartridge doesn't work, then I'll get the joy of shipping out my 2nd printer for a replacement.TLDR: It is cheap, appears great, does lots of amazing things, but it is a lie. It will break, or clog, or cost far more in ink than you ever would have accepted if you'd known. At least that's how I feel at the end of this, and I just keep going because they just keep sending me replacements.

In general I like this printer. But there are some glaring issues that keep it from being a great printer.1. The scanning software is not intuitive at all. I scan to PDF often and I could not find where the PDFs go when they are scanned. Also, the PDFs don't get saved until you close the scan dialog.2. When I finally found where the PDFs get saved, when I opened one for the first time, Adobe required me to install a Japanese language pack. For whatever reason when the PDF gets created, you can see in the properties that a Japanese font is used along with the English fonts used. So, even though there are no Japanese characters in my document, Adobe won't open the PDF without the necessary language pack. So if I wanted to send the doc to others, they would also have to install the Japanese language pack.3. On my wife's computer which runs Windows 10 (previously Windows 8.1) the printer always shows offline. Even though it's online and my Windows 7 computer always sees it online. I've installed and reinstalled drivers on the Windows 10 machine and I've had no luck. So my wife sends thing for me to print on my computer :( UPDATE: I finally found a video on YouTube that fixed the problem on my wife's computer! You go to printer properties and select the Ports tab and click Configure port. Uncheck SNMP Status Enabled. Click OK. Done!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ououPOBThwc If it says the port is in use, just move the printer to another port temporarily, configure the correct port and then move it back.4. Just like the HP I previously had, you can send an email to an email address assigned to your printer. FROM ANYWHERE. Which is totally awesome! EXCEPT, the printer adds header information to your email. I just want the email to print as if I did it from home with no extra information on it. That's a bummer.So...in summary.... for every day printing and copying it works great. For scanning, I ended up downloading freeware called NAPS2 (Not Another PDF Scanner 2). It so simple and barebones that it's fantastic. Too bad the EPSON scanning software is so poorly designed.
