Garmin 010-01400-00 Nuvi 57 5-Inch GPS Navigator

I bought this to replace my ten-year-old Garmin Nuvi. A few nice updates, like school zones and posted Hwy speed limits. Voice is louder compared to my old Nuvi. Reasonable price and does all I want. I am not interested in traffic updates, etc. that require interaction with my cell phone. When I first turned it on, I could barely read the screen. Just made out enough to find the settings and turn up the screen brightness. I thought first the unit was broken it was so dim. Just be aware, in case, that you may have to increase the brightness of the display. Only other thing is no manual. You have to read it online or download a hard copy. If you want an old-school GPS and not want to worry about weak cell phone signals that some of the more expensive GPS units require, get this one. It's better and cost half what I paid for my old one, ten years ago.

After only 13 months of very light use this Item has failed. I actually used it 4 times in the last year. May 2026 was the last time I used it, worked fine. Now, Nothing....it's a paper weight. I have tried to get it going while connected in the car, to the wall adapter, and now connected to the cpmputer ...Nothing. Guess I'm shopping for a Non garmin GPS.

Working perfectly,, rerouting is perfect,, 5 inch screen is great !, update,, used now for a couple of months , it's working perfectly, so too read some of the comments is confusing for sure !! bad units maybe,, but I've used a GPS for over ten years now and this unit is awesome for size and price!!

This was a gift, so I haven't used it much, but it seems like it works well from what I've seen. The screen is a decent size, and I like that it shows decent images of exits to get of as well, especially since sometimes directions that the GPS repeats can be difficult to understand when driving, so being able to glance at the image briefly is helpful.

Bought this as a 2nd for another vehicle,all ready had Gamin Nuvi older model.I actually ordered the wrong one,because I wanted the LM model but hit base by mistake.Was too late to cancel because I paid extra for two day shipping and had all ready shipped out.Could return it,but I'm happy with it,so I'll keep it.Many more features and far better updated than my old Nuvi which can't actually be updated anymore(so it says).Said five inch on the box,but it's 6 inch so a plus for me.Only dislike I have so far about it is the screen is gray at night and my other one switches from gray to white at night.No complaints so far,we'l see if this one holds up for over six years as my other one has.Price was good compared to all other sellers online and retail.I live way out in the country down dirt roads,eight miles away from the nearest gas station another four into town,registers every road and has been spot on verbally on directions as well.The voice does seriously mispronounce words but I can live with that so long as it gets me where i need to go.This is a good buy and would recommend.

I am not thrilled with this. I bought a "refurbished" one, same model and returned it, and this (brand new) has the same problems as the refurbished. It works some of the time, and then misdirects me. It's not reliable. Garmin Nuvi used to be the best you could buy. I don't know why it's now changed. I will call manufacturer tomorrow and see what they say. I don't see the point of returning it again, and buying another brand only to have more problems.

I've been using a Garmin nuvi 57 for a few years. I decided I should have a backup. Major fail. This new unit had no detailed maps loaded. And the GarminExpress software -- which works fine with my older nuvi 57 cannot load or update maps on the new one. Ins hort, this is useless: "Detailed map map required for routing. No detailed maps found on this device." And it can't D/L detailed maps. The best this unit can do is give me current local coordinates, but nothing else. My other nuvi 57 is fine, so I don't think there is a general product issue. I believe THIS new unit simply was not properly configured at the factory prior to shipping.

This is the best GPS I have own by far. I use it so, I don't eat the data up on my cell phone. Great to own come in handy when in a state or a town you have never been. It help you find good restaurants that's near to where your at. It just has all kinda of tools that is useful... Thanks Rob.
