Review: Good for car doors, or cavities in car unibodies - I purchased this to help with the acoustics in my 2015 Explorer. Anyone who has done a car stereo in the last 10-20 years, knows that when the crash standards changed, and all the manufacturers moved to unibody construction - they turned cars and light SUVs into tin-can echo chambers. Some of this is caused by the deformation space manufacturers leave in your doors (large air space between the outer skin, the inner skin, and the inner door card). A lot of road noise is also transmitted into the structure from the suspension being directly connected to the unibody, rather than a sub-frame and into the body through isolator mounts - this means that any large piece of flat area is a potential acoustic diaphragm (or re-radiator). The doors in my 2015 Explorer sound like a trashcan (please suppress Ford jokes you have in mind). If you tap it with your knuckle, it sounded something like knocking on a metal trashcan lid held in the air. After applying this material, the limp mass portion of this multi-layer material made the metal sound more like what I would describe as fabric-wrapped-plywood laying on grass. The best way I can describe it is that it felt like the sound "penetrated" the untreated sheetmetal and echoed back at me from inside, while on the treated sheetmental the knock felt like it never got past the surface - the knocking sound's directionality seemed to only come from exactly where I was touching the sheetmetal on the outside of the door. I've attached a video demonstrating a treated door versus an un-treated door - listen for yourself. Each of the doors took about 2-3 sheets of this material with cutting to make it fit to shapes. The inside of the door was cleaned with clean rags and 99% Isopropyl Alcohol (https://www.desertcart.com/gp/product/B00CXWANX2/). All adhesives stick better to clean surfaces, and this type of alcohol will lift dirt off a surface very quickly when used with a clean rag (and with LOTs of ventilation), and fully evaporate without a residue ready to take an adhesive. Cutting was easy with a standard box-cutter to fit in the shape of the door and around internal hardware (taking great care not to plug drain holes!!). Having the egg-crate style face in closed cell foam, means that there is not a flat surface for sound to reflect off of inside the door (reducing echo from the speaker), and the thickness of the foam is about as thin as 1/4" Dynaliner at its thinnest - so it absorbs a good deal of sound inside the door - while also insulating the inside from the outside. Separately from this product, the door's inner skin was covered in 90mil NVX deadening mat (https://www.desertcart.com/gp/product/B078XJY1SZ/), and the cavity between the inner skin and the inside door card was filled with open cell melamine sound absorbing foam (https://www.desertcart.com/dp/B00HQNXYHK/). Now, greater than 95% of all sound coming from the door when the window is up is from only the speaker, and the ride is noticeably quieter. Less outside sound getting in, less inside sound getting out, and less road noise being radiated through large vibrating surfaces. This product is working great for what it is intended for. I gave it 4 stars for value, as I would have prefered a bit more size on a single sheet. I bought 12-sheets, and I'll probably order more to finish off all the details.
Review: Very poor Adhesion to a wall and celling, had to staple up - Very poor Adhesion to a wall and celling, had to staple up. However did what I needed for sound. just do not expect it is going to stick unless there is no gravity (such as on a floor).

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Not bad
*by M***O on February 1, 2026*

Its closed cell egg crate foam with a layer of butyl underneath. The foam is a bit delicate in the sense that its tears fairly easily. I attached this to the inside of the roof of my vehicle to sit behind a pair of speakers built into the headliner. It hasn't fallen down after a few weeks, so the adhesive seems sufficiently sticky, but like any sticky-back stuff, the attachment surface needs to be cleaned with alcohol or some other degreaser that leaves no residue.
